Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

That is good to know that DCL is offering currency exchanges on the ship. The booklet I received from them said they were only exchanging for the Euro. We are going to try and do Stockholm on our own and my main concern was how to get some Krona's for the boat/taxi/bus rides/museum entrance fees.

We have not finalized our plans for Dover yet (actually we are still booked at a hotel in London and our TA is trying to change to Dover), but we may be interested in meeting up for a drink at a pub or dinner if we do stay over in Dover before the cruise.

Maybe I should get two shirts! One pre cruise size and a larger one for my post cruise size:lmao:

Gotta go check out the web site and place my order!!!

Thanks,
Marianne

I went to Cafe Press but I couldn't find the shirts. What do you look them up as? Do I have the right site? I liked the Polo I saw in the older posts - especially the dates and ports on the back! I original thought I wouldn't bother but now I think we need them! Maybe a kids hoodie for my DD.:goodvibes

My sister-in-law saw some of our cruise shirts with the ports listed on the back of the shirt. When I clicked on the link from the previous page I didn't see any with ports listed on the back. Do they still have them? I really liked the ports on the back. :thumbsup2

I think that is probably the ones that I posted pictures of. They were one-offs that I made up for my Dad and me on another web-site using the cruise logo so they're not actually available anywhere. :guilty:

Thanks! We are doing the "Viking Heritage" tour in Oslo that includes the open air museum--so I am very happy to hear about your experience there! We'll plan on Vasa, then Skansen only if there is time (and my family pulls me away from reading all of the displays at Vasa). Do you recall--can you use a credit card to purchase the boat taxi tickets?

I could have SWORN that they only took cash. I think I remember using the small amount of cash I had to pay for the boat taxis. The Vasa did take credit cards though, because I used mine there.
I would be prepared just in case for the boat taxis.

And I tried to post pictures of the awesome open air museum in Oslo, but the dis changed and I can't get them to load correctly. :(

Hi
Do you remember the name of the open air museum? We are doing Oslo on our own. Thanks!

I think it was called the Norweigan Folk Museum...can't remember if open air was in the title or not. I don't think it was.
I do know that it is a walk from the boat taxi drop off to the Viking ship museum, but it was a straight shot and there were signs near the end. There were also signs along that main street that pointed to the Folk Museum too. For that one, you do have to go down a side street.

For anybody that will be in London after the cruise and is interested in seeing the new Andrew Lloyd Weber play, Love Never Dies, call the box office NOW.
I was trying to purchase them online but kept getting timed out because it didn't recognize my postal code. I finally decided to call the box office directly and am so glad I did. Apparently a whole block of first row center tickets in the dress circle for June 24th just became available. They are the most expensive tier (67.50 pounds) but compared to Broadway prices, that's not bad. They are also alot better seats than the ones I was trying to purchase online. If you are calling from the USA, dial this to reach the Adelphi Theatre box office: 011-44-844-412-4651.

I just ordered a Mickey vest and tie for formal night for dh and dgs. They shouldn't take up too much room in the luggage!

I found out today that we don't have any anything (plans, tickets or reservations) on how we are getting from the ship to London. Not sure whether to do Disney transfers (is there such a thing) or train or whatever. The hotel we are staying at is not one of the Disney hotels so not sure if we could even get a transfer. How is anyone who is staying in London after the cruise getting there?

Thanks,
Marianne

Does that mean no suit required?! Just slacks? I think my guys are going to rent tuxes from the ship but not sure. It would be nice to give them another option!

Thanks,
Marianne

We have a van picking us up. Some are doing the train and others are doing the bus. You can take a cab to 1 of the Disney hotels if you want to take the DCL tranfers.

We're renting tuxes but wanted a little different vest than is offered. I think Scott said he was doing dress slacks with a tie and no jacket. My DD and I wore capris on the PC cruise. DH had to leave the cruise early and by mistake took our formal wear with him!:rotfl:

I am not staying at a Disney Hotel, but one that is close to the airport. We are using DCL transfers and just taking a bus back to the airport and getting the transfer there.

I forget how much it is though!

I watched a documentary about touring in Oslo. The Folk Museum looked really neat. I'd liketo go there.

You're the one. Sorry about that. I just remembered that you and Lynn were not dressing real formal.
