Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Emily-

We lost our golden retriever, Kaija, 4 years ago to cancer. She was the apple of our eye. My husband and I had grown up with dogs. But we were never as close to those pups as we were to Kaija. She went everywhere with us. I have a 2nd job as an adjunct professor and she'd even join me once a month in my courses because the students loved her.

So we very much understand your loss and how hard it is. We miss our Kaija immensely.

But a good friend shared this wonderful poem with us called the Rainbow Bridge. It's a special poem for everyone who cherishes their pets as we do: http://www.rainbowbridge.com/Poem.htm

Take care of yourself!

Thanks everyone!!!!

MJ, it has been harder than we ever imagined. Ozzy was like our child and there's just such a void almost everywhere.

yes, our pets become our children. We still talk about our cocker spaniel, Ralph, and miss him, even though it's been 10 years!

So sorry to hear about Ozzy - pets are a big part of a family. I was just looking back at some old photos and saw my 2 dogs I had as a little girl and it there was still a twinge sadness at their passing but lots of good memories too.

Emily - :grouphug: sorry for you loss

Linda - Your task is to find out if they are putting fish on the outside of the stateroom doors! And if not, tell them they still have time to add them :thumbsup2

I did an update to the roster this weekend. You can always tell when the last update was done by looking at the bottom of the page where the stats are.

Sorry for your loss, many folks who are not dog people do not realize how much a member of the family they are.

Thanks everyone!!!! It's nice to know there are fellow pet-lovers out there who understand.

Missy, I'm very familiar with Rainbow Bridge. It brings tears to my eyes every time I read it regardless of the loss.

Yes, got that on my list (the one I haven't started yet!). I guess by the time we actually get off the Magic and head over to the Dream I will have a whole list of questions for Captain Tom. He will be saying.....oh no.....it's the list of questions from the disboards! :rotfl:

I know I've been pretty quiet here lately and I'm sure some of you saw my FB post, but Friday our boxer and baby boy Ozzy lost his fight with heart disease. It's been a rather difficult weekend for us. We thought we would have more time, but we are glad we had the time we did b/c as some of you know he almost didn't make it through the diagnosis.

We are so sorry for your loss:sad1: We too have a furry four legged kid who we love dearly. We know they always seem to leave us too soon but am glad you were able to spend some additional time with your baby. I'm sure he felt all the love and now he is an angel watching over your family.

Thanks Marianne!!!! We were extremely lucky. When he was diagnosed, we were told that most dogs don't make it. I know he's somewhere very special watching over us.:littleangel:

Good Morning fellow cruisers from Virgina! The sun is shinning for the second day here and the temperature is suppose to get to the high 60s sounds like Baltic weather to me. Did anyone notice that there are only 10 cruises left on the Magic before ours:cool1: I really have to get a life or just go back to work! Sue

Good morning from California and the San Francisco Bay Area! We have mid 50s today with scattered clouds. Yesterday was a wild day with winds, rain on and off and even a bit of hail! Is it just me or is anyone else's job getting in the way of planning and preparing for this trip:rotfl: I have a growing list on my desk of things I need/want to get, things to pack (yes I want to start packing!) and great ideas that you are all coming up with (such as the laundry thingy). When we made these cruise reservations ages ago I don't remember if we mentioned to our travel agent (different one than we have now) what size table we wanted to be at for dinner. Is there anywhere on our reservation that shows that? If it's a small table can we change it before we arrive at the ship? And please keep the great ideas (space saving in cabin etc.) coming. I keep trying to remember what I thought about on the last cruise but it's not working:confused3

Thanks,
Marianne

Just tell you travel agent to let DCL know what size table you want. Also if you want to sit with somebody that you know.

Marianne I am coming your way April 8 through the 13th. Even though we have lived in VA for almost 10 years I am still a season ticketholder of the SF Giants with a friend of mine. I will be out for opening day and hope it does not rain! Sue:rolleyes1

I will be crossing my fingers that you will have nice weather but you know how S.F. can be! Do you come out every year for opening day? I went one opening day and the weather was beautiful. We had taken our fur kid to their Dog Days of Summer that they have in August and it was always so warm. If you want, send me a PM and I'll give you my address and phone number then if you need anything while you are we can help. Where are your seats at the stadium? Enjoy!

On the subject of dinner on the Magic - I was going to ask how Disney allocate the tables. We have had to book the whole cruise online, as no TAs in Australia can book for us, and I don't remember indicating anywhere whether we'd like to share a table at dinner. All I know is we picked the early sitting. Over to the voices of experience...

I do not really know the answer to the question but we are a family of 4 and have always had a table with just the 4 of us. I hope that helps.

As a family of 2, we have sat at a table of 8 both cruises. Always had such nice dinner mates!

On our first cruise we sat at a small table of just our group (that was okay but since we had been together so much we kind of ran out of conversation), for the second cruise we asked our travel agent to request that we sit at a large table and that great and we met some really nice people that we still stay in touch with, on the 3rd cruise something happened and we were seated at a large table but it was the late sitting and we wanted the early sitting. I believe they changed our sitting after the first dinner and then we were back to a small table with just our group. We sure did miss the big table! We need to check to see if we have requested a large table for this cruise because we sure want one :woohoo: Is anyone interested in requesting to sit together with us? Maybe that would make sure we get a larger table? Do you think that would work?:confused3

Fish extender gifts are ordered. :woohoo: Ordered a 100, so one per cabin with extra's for anyone who wants another!

Oh man! I'm so envious! I'm still trying to figure out what to do or get! I keep :surfweb: but can't make a decision!

We're going to make ours. In fact, I better get started. That lathe isn't going to run itself.
