Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Lathes :scared1: Labels:eek: AND bags:eek: Ya'll are good:cheer2: As a first time Fish Extender participant I'm looking for ideas. What has or has not worked for ya in the past. How do you pack it all?! I'm trying to reserve one bag just for this fun stuff but I don't think the husband knows that yet:rolleyes1

Also how do you quote more than one person in a reply? :confused3

Thanks! Marianne

I've still got to start working on my FE gifts as well. Still got a little time, but not much.

To quote more than one person: do you see the quote button in each message? See the button next to it with the " + on it. Each person you want to quote just select that and when you select post new message (or whatever it is exactly) all the messages you selected will show up.:thumbsup2

On the subject of dinner on the Magic - I was going to ask how Disney allocate the tables. We have had to book the whole cruise online, as no TAs in Australia can book for us, and I don't remember indicating anywhere whether we'd like to share a table at dinner. All I know is we picked the early sitting. Over to the voices of experience...

Rach7 - I have sent you a personal message. We are also a family from Brisbane! We booked through Small World Vacations. Would be happy to have a coffee with you to talk about the cruise if you like.

I know I've been pretty quiet here lately and I'm sure some of you saw my FB post, but Friday our boxer and baby boy Ozzy lost his fight with heart disease. It's been a rather difficult weekend for us. We thought we would have more time, but we are glad we had the time we did b/c as some of you know he almost didn't make it through the diagnosis.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your boxer, Ozzy. I have gone through that with 4 dogs since I was a teenager and it doesn't get any easier. I too love the Rainbow Bridge poem; it was given to me with my last dog's ashes from the vet.:littleangel:

Do we need to get on a list to participate in the FE program? Or is our name on the trip roster enough? My DD and I are excited and thinking about FE gifts.

Thanks!!!! We got his ashes yesterday. Each day has been getting a little easier. We've already started the process of finding our next baby. We're being very thorough in our search. We don't want our next baby to have to fight heart disease like Ozzy did.

i have a very close friend who breeds scotties. When our long haired dachshund went over the rainbow bridge 2 years ago my friend directed me to the AKC website akc.org. These are breeders who are registered with the AKC and do not sell sick animals. We got silly Selah in 2008 and she is in perfect health. You have to be careful with a lot of the internet postings and pet shops as well as the dogs could be coming from puppy mills which you take a big chance on health wise. I am sure you will have a new member of the family soon.

I always felt better when I got my angels back home. Best wishes and good luck on the search. Are you going to stay with the same breed?

I'm not for sure but I think the FE exchange is using the names on the roster but there is the Secret Mickey sign up which is seperate. I have a question about the FE exchange. Do we put who it's from and who it is to? I saw that some well organized person mentioned labels

Thanks,
Marianne:confused3

Believe me, that was exactly where I started and that led me to the American Boxer Club's website which lists all of their registered breeders.

Marianne, it was a bittersweet moment to get that little box back, but I agree, having him back home is the best thing in the world. He wouldn't want to be anywhere else. That's where he was the happiest, home with his mommy and daddy.

Right now I think we are planning on getting another Boxer, but we'll just kind see what happens. It's really kind of hard to imagine our home without one. They have such a personality that I can't imagine another breed filling that energy.

Fellow Cruisers
I justed checked with my bank in VA (Suntrust) and found out that we can only order foreign currency in amounts of $250 per currency. Other than pounds since we are going to London early we were looking for about $50US in each of the other currency just to have for small stuff and places that do not take credit cards and we do not want a lot of unused foreign dollars when we return. Like others on the thread the bank confirmed that they can get rubbles in fact they just got some in for a customer last week. If any of you learn of another place to exchange currency I would love to hear about it otherwise i guess we are stuck with doing it in the various countries. We still have euros from our med cruise so will be bringing them along.:confused3

I've given and received alot of different things. I've gotten little tiny Kleenex paks that had Disney CARS on them; bookmarks, magnets, a clothespin to keep the drape closed in your stateroom without letting light in; a little roll of duct tape; pirate necklaces; candy; pirate booty; a little care pkg with things like safety pins and stuff for emergencies.

So many different things and everything is great, so just do whatever suits you! I am looking for something small and lightweight that will be easy to pak and not take alot of room in my luggage.

I don't believe we need on a FE list to participate. The original idea (which EpcotKilterFan started) was to "share" and have fun exchanging. What I do is I will make a stateroom list and if the person has a fish extender hanging outside their door, I put in a gift. I generally do one per stateroom (unless there is two different families staying in the same stateroom.)

I also have labelled my items sometimes, and other times I have given anonomously. So it is up to you whether you want to put your name on the gift(s) or not.

Hope that helps!

Hello all! It is good to see our group growing. I am looking for a reasonable hotel in Atlanta to stay pre and post from our cruise. I am tempted to book a flight on Pacific Wings (turboprop) from Nashville to Atlanta to avoid the drive as I live less than 30 minutes from the Nashville airport. However, I am a bit scared of the turboprop. With my luck, it will be raining like crazy and lightening when I leave causing the plane to bounce around and scaring the willies out of me.:scared1: I could book Delta or others but they are EXPENSIVE..... Guess we are driving.

Sorry I can't help with the Atlanta hotel but I'm with you on the turboprops :scared1: How long of a drive is it from your home to Atlanta?

It is only four hours. I guess I should suck it up. I am just scared to drive down on the day of the flight, even though the flight leaves after 9 pm. I envision flat tires, engine trouble and a multitude of problems and missing my plane. So I am planning on going down the night before. Then, what do I do all day on the day of the flight? Hang out in the airport? I don't know, just spoiled by my easy nonstop flights to Orlando on Southwest. I wish I wasn't scared of the turboprops.

There's lots of shopping opportunities around Atlanta.

I know how you feel. I'm the one in the family that would rather be at the aiprort earlier than at the last minute. It drives friends and family nuts. You just never know what's going to happen on the way to the airport or checking in or going through security etc. I guess I'm not very reassuring am I?:sad2: But I did look at TripAdvisor and there's 205 things listed to do in Atlanta:eek: There is an aquarium, botanical garden and a Coca Cola place to name a few. Being as I'm a nervous nellie, I would sleep in a little, have a leisurly breakfast wander around a nearby mall (trying not to buy anything :rotfl:) and would be at the airport by mid afternoon because then I could get through security and maybe have dinner before boarding. And don't we have to be at the airport early if we are on international flights? Sorry, I'm rambling:guilty:

Did anyone else get an e-mail today from DCL? I was so excited because I thought maybe we were going to be allowed to make reservations earlier than expected or maybe upgraded or something special. But it was just a reminder to make reservations on the 14th:sad2: Like we could forget

Have a good Friday!

Marianne

I got the email too Marianne ... I also had that momentary moment of excitement!
