I have reserved 3 rooms for 4 nights at AKL for my family. We're all non-smokers and have asked for non-smoking rooms. We have no medical reasons, just preferences.

My husband will be real cranky  if we get a smoking room. Has it ever happened to anyone? We are checking in on Tuesday evening, 1/14, so I expect there to be lots of rooms available. Right? Thanks, Linda

If you request a non-smoking room, you will get one. You will love AKL, it is excellent!

I just returned from AKL it is a great hotel and you will have no problems getting a non-smoking room since the majority of the rooms are non-smoking.

Have a great trip!

The front desk told me Thursdays & Fridays are their busiest check in days because a lot of people go to the AKL for the weekend. You should be fine on a Tuesday!

I would just make sure that the request for a non-smoking room is listed first ahead of any other requests that you may have made and that it is clear that if they can only grant one of your requests that this is the one you want granted.

I also believe that since you are checking in on a Tuesday and since you are traveling during value season and since I believe the majority of room at the AKL are non-smoking your odds of getting a non-smoking room are very high.

I disagree with the poster that stated that you would get it. No requests are guaranteed unless there is a medical reason. I would just make sure the above is known and try to relax. When you are checking in just reiterate to the CM that is checking you in that a non-smoking room is very important to you and can he/she confirm that the room he/she is sending you to is non-smoking.

I hope you have a great trip.

I made a request for non-smoking for this Aug. My dd is borderline asthmatic. WHen she is around smoke it sets it off. Just afraid that the humidity will make it worse. It is on our ressie as...'non-smoking for medical reasons'. I hope it goes that way or else we'll be waiting for a non-smoking room to open up!!

If you made a "medical request" for a non-smoking room your confirm slip from CRO should read "guaranteed non-smoking". My husband has severe asthma (5 different meds twice a day just to maintain) so we always put in a "medical request" for a non-smoking room and it is alwasy guaranteed for us.

If you made your reservation through CRO and your confirm slip does not say "guaranteed non-smoking" call back and specificly tell them you have a "medical request" for a non-smoking room due to asthma.

Thanks Tiffany. I doublechecked my paperwork. You're right. Looks like I'll be making a call.

FYI....just getting a non-smoking room at AKL dosen't mean you will get away from smoke. The people in the room next door to ours (also a non-smoking) chain smoked on the balcony the entire time they were there.

Gepetto how annoying and inconsiderate.

I doubt you will have a problem at that time of year. I would call the day before or day you are leaving and state again that non-smoking is very important to you. My DH hates the smell too, but middle dS has asthma, so we always get it guaranteed confirmed. In 4 trips I've never, ever had a problem.

Hopefully, someday down the road all WDW resorts will be
"non-smoking."

I think Disney is getting the hint about non-smoking rooms and are alloting more non-smoking rooms in their resort.

I was at the Polynesian during Thanksgiving and had a non-smoking room, but noticed a burn mark on the table from a cigarette...Hmm, non-smoking room to that person MUST have meant no ashtrays!!

all in all, I only noticed a few people smoking (right outside the entrance to Captain Cook's. That makes sense... door opens, smoke goes IN the restaurant.

AND last but not least... EVEN with the announcements and signs that smoking is only allowed in designated areas and to ask a cast member for help, etc" only a few people were walking around Magic Kingdom smoking ...

Have you ever seen "A league of their own"? with Tom Hanks-- "THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!!" Well, when I saw someone smoking in an area not designated as smoking, I would say in that same tone, "THERE'S NO SMOKING AT DISNEY!!" My daughter was ready to kill me, but that was nice compared to what I usually say to people!!! I know it's an addictive habit, I used to smoke, so I know what it's like, but I also know what it's like now not be be able to breathe when someone is smoking around me!!

So, to answer your question, don't worry, you'll get a non-smoking room, and if by chance some inconsiderate person smoked in your room before you.... they will do everything they can to move you to a better room.
