Non Existent Dress Code

You have no idea what anybody can afford. You have no idea what people paid to get on the ship. It's called saving & budgeting every penny to make a dream come true for yourself or your kids. For some it's a once in a lifetime trip so excuse me if anybody wants to save 100 in baggage fees. That's money that could be spent on the ship.

And it WAS what that kind of entitlement that led to DCL removing the dress code.
Some couldn't afford to cruise with the dress code and ignored the requirements at a first, then the recommendation and suggestions.

Now I would love to book a private charter yacht as was suggested before.
I cannot afford that, so I don't.
If you cannot afford to dress as requested then you cannot afford to cruise on that line!
You are not entitled to a dream come true cruise and ignore what is asked of you if you cannot do what they ask of you.

I want I want, I should be able to, It's my vacation = Entitlement.

It wouldn't bother me one bit...but this thread is about a cruise that doesn't require a gown or suit and is moving towards making cruises even more casual, in fact, Disney is probably the most casual than even Carnival, who requires pants at dinner.

It's one thing to look at what people wear in a fun non mocking "people watching" sort of way, it's quite another to do so judgmentally by correlating someone's manner of dress to their financial status, which is the point of your initial post.

Funny how since I replied to your post you have chosen to ignore most of it once your theory was debunked.
And now the people that can afford the cruise chose to disobey what was asked of them because they were ENTITLED, but had no respect.
Money does not make someone have manners.

even if you think everyone is being disrespectful because of something as trivial as what they wear on vacation, why are you so bothered by everyone else? Why do you let a pair of shorts cause you so much misery?

Mostly because they are the same parents that allow kids/teens to come into the adult areas of an evening, run in the halls late at night, be loud whilst walking thru the quiet cove, bring them into the cove cafe.

It's there vacation, they are entitled to......

Well how about of the rolls were reversed? A driver tuning up in shorts to drive you to a nice restaurant or evening with friends whilst you and your other are dressed in a tux and gown? Appropriate? Should all of the cm's dress down now? Wear shorts of an evening? Should the captain turn up wearing shorts and a tee shirt? You wear the appropriate clothing for where you are going. If you can afford the cruise you can afford $100 in baggage fees. You do not want to pay the $100 baggage fee so complain it is too expensive to do it and that is the basis of your argument against dining attire requests or recommendations.

I'll play....

They wear that as uniform... Required for employment....to say cruise casual should be a consistent uniform for all passengers is beyond ridiculous. But if that is your idea of a vacation, go nuts.... So that doesn't make much sense... yes I agree you wear appropriate clothing for where you are going, and where you are going is a disney cruise where they've defined the rules, read the rules and the recommendations before assuming, let me give you the cliff notes... Cruise casual....

As far as cruise fare is concerned, if you know anything about disney prices they aren't going down they're going up, in fact many complain of being priced out, so in your theory this should weed out all the carnival riff raff you mention, and yet people are getting more casual... Hmmm....

And let me respond on your great theory, it has nothing to do with affordability, that's like saying you can afford a disney cruise why not throw a few hundred overboard, or lite a cigar with a hundred dollar bill... It's about wasting money on something that you don't care about... Why pay for luggage fees for something that you don't want to do... If you don't want to go to Remy should you have to pay for it just bc you can afford to cruise... Do you have to get a cabana on the beach just bc you can afford a cruise....

Yes, because they caved under pressure from those that felt they were entitled to because they paid so much, and did what they wanted anyway, shouted and screamed, the ignorant ones who did not read the paperwork that stated a dress code. Disney happy is expected 24/7, and god help anyone that challenges that!
Adults screaming at each other from table to table in the dining rooms, kids running around.
Parents that feel entitled, that raise kids that feel entitled.

I am personally offended by a person's poor grammar. I wish I didn't have to cruise with them. If Disney would raise THEIR prices, perhaps only those with private school educations and advanced degrees would be able to cruise.

No, I didn't ignore your post and I answered your question, but you were trying to move the goal post by talking about fancy restaurant attire, which is moving away from the thread topic.

So let's come back to the thread, entitlement is "I can't afford a disney cruise, but I must go on a disney cruise because Joe Schmoe is able to go on a disney cruise. What you are saying is that all people who PAY for a Disney cruise must wear what makes YOU comfortable because how dare anyone make their own choice when it comes do dinner-wear. You are trying to veil your pretentious and elitist attitude by making it a "manners" issue when clearly it is not.

And let's not forget the car they drive, it must be worth more than 50K, European, preferably German...and no, Mercedes Benz C class doesn't count. :lmao:

I suggested the private charter cruise......since all of us cruisers are so below you then why don't you just save up your money and then you can afford a chartered cruise where you do not have to be disgusted with everything around you.
This way the rest of us can dress up or not dress up and worry about spending our vacation with family & friends and possibly making some new friends while we are there.

Money can't buy you class and that is a fact! I work for a multi-million dollar catering company. The owner wears converse & faded jeans 24/7 even to high class events. Why does he get away with it??? b/c he's the sweetest most likeable guy you'll ever meet and he treats everyone with the respect that they deserve.

I wish the word entitlement would burn and die! It's turned into something nasty and a talking point for the elitist snobs in this country.

Given this person's low post count and join date of today, they are likely only here to stir the pot. :stir: I highly doubt this is a lurker or someone who just stumbled across this thread but is actually an alt for someone else.

Moral of the story - don't reply to them and they will slink back to wherever they came from.

Ok so after reading 8 pages of why people should or shouldn't dress a certain way my thoughts are ....

If Disney makes the rules and doesn't have a problem with how someone's dresses then why do others feel they have the right to have a problem with it? Take it up with Disney and not the others that are following Disneys rules.

Another thought is that this world has turned into a world where if one feels they can complain or are offended then they think things should change because of their complaint. I'm personally sick of it.

Now I don't agree with vulgar attire or being almost naked either. I guess we all need to find that happy medium. You know what.... I think it is poll time

That is the main reason that the rules have changed to be so casual, people whined all of the time "it's my vacation and I will do as I please".

Come on everyone. Let's not keep on this path. This thread has really gone off the rails.:scared1: No one is ever going to agree so let's all just agree to disagree on this subject.

We all cruise Disney for our love of Disney. Everyone is entitled to their feelings/opinions on the dress code but at this point as long as people are following the current, posted guidelines there is no sense arguing about it here.

Right now shorts and jeans ARE allowed in the dining rooms. End of story. Some may feel that Disney has caved and relaxed the dress code but if you feel so strongly about it write to DCL and let them know how you feel. Nothing will happen on this board except this thread getting shut down. Maybe if enough people wrote and stated their feelings they would change back. But, it seems right now their choice is to relax the dress code to make people happy. They would not have done this if they didn't feel their target audience wanted it.

While I like dressing up a bit on the cruise I know not everyone does. We have been cruising DCL since day one of their cruise history and have seen many changes in the dress code along the way. I used to argue about the relaxed dress code but I know it makes no difference so as long as I don't see too much exposed skin on men or women or any hairy bits I am OK.

Let's all agree to disagree!!!:dance3::hug:

My PSA for the day.

Now you have done it. Everyone was having such a wonderful time and here you come along with all of your common sense. :)

Can I come to dinner naked next trip :) I'll wear my flip flops :)

While I know this tends to be a personal topic I'm amazed at the responses. I think DCL was trying to strike a happy medium when making their adjustment to the "dress code". I think they get it that not everyone wants to bring along lots of dressy stuff and some don't have that but still lets make it nice.
