Maybe Disney can issue cruise uniforms like my children's Catholic School Uniforms! As their school says uniform means everyone should dress the same. They can do uniform checks!
Cruise Casual is NOT Theme Park Casual It's MY Vacation - I'll dress as I darn well please It's MY Vacation - and since you are NOT following the dress code (and presumably I am), you are adversely impacting MY vacation Rules - we don't need no stinking rules!!! ... Treasure of the Sierra Madre (sic) Anarchists of the World Unite ... George Carlin Oh yea, why is wearing what you want ok, (especially when it's "against" the dress code) and showing too much skin NOT okLooks like a double standard to me. And don't say it's because of the children onboard, because by being selfish and wearing what you want vs. what is requested you are perpetuating the "It's ALL About ME!!!" syndrome and that rules are made to be broken and passing on a horrible set of ethics to the next generation.
I would have to be having a pretty terrible time if i cared what other families' were wearing.
I don't understand people getting upset about what other people wear to dinner. If it is vulgar or extremely skimpy, sure, I can see that. But I have never felt affected by what other cruisers wear to dinner. I can't even tell you what my other tablemates wore most nights, I honestly didn't notice other people around the MDR. I say dress how YOU feel comfortable. You want to dress up? Go for it!! You want to embrace casual and wear shorts and a tank top? Good, enjoy your vacation! There's no pressure either way, everyone can do what makes it a more enjoyable cruise for them!
And if you're one that is bothered by the casual attire of others, you may be able to enjoy your cruise more if you spend less time paying attention to how others are dressed, choose not to let it affect you, and just enjoy your evening the way you like it!![]()

Can you please tell us the meaning of "cruise casual" and "theme park casual"?...I can't seem to find them in the dictionary anywhere.
I'm assuming "cruise casual" means any piece of clothing that has the "anchor" on it?
I'm quite confused myself! My 'cruise casual' is also my 'theme park casual' meaning what I wore to MK the week before, I wore the same thing to Animator's Palate or any given night. I do not have a 'different' set of outfits for Disney World or the cruise or in my daily life for that matter. I also don't get the whole 'rule' thing people keep mentioning! I get that DCL has rules for certain things, but as for dress attire I have yet to see this enforced. I believe its a guideline, but its also a choice. On a formal night, I still wear my shorts and t-shirt cause that's what I want to wear, and I am never the only one! When it comes to the "ALL ABOUT ME' issue, its strickly about what works for each individual and what they're comfortable in. I'm certainly not going to dress in a gown cause the Navigator says 'Formal night' and some are dressing up. I don't dress up, I don't do pictures and I don't skip the MDR either just because I'm not following the 'guideline' Where does it say anywhere that semi formal or formal nights are Mandatory?? I don't know why so many get their knickers in a knot over what people wear. Its not a fashion show, its a vacation. DCL gives people the option to dress up or not to dress up. If so many have such an issue with people that don't dress up then maybe they should be on a different ship!
With all the airline charges for luggage now (SW the exception), it's too expensive for people to have to pack 2-3 outfits/day for their cruise.

The biggest problem is that cruise fares have dropped so low because of cruise lines like Carnival flooding the market and air fare is so affordable now that it enables those that have no respect or consideration to the line's requests that they gave up (hence why DCL removed the attire guideline) to cruise.
If you cannot afford to dress appropriately because of baggage costs, so thereby ignoring what WAS asked of you to wear, you cannot afford to cruise or go to nice places.

Yes! Well said.... It's always surprising to learn How bad it is to FOLLOW the rules set by DCL. Pushing arbitrary rules on others is the selfish and double standard part, and every time it's cited "ALL ABOUT ME" about people who choose to be casual, but if you think about, what you are saying is that by not following your unwritten rules that they are doing something wrong, so basically what your saying is it's all about you!
Disney defines cruise casual to prevent any misunderstandings... They also clearly state that formal attire is optional... Since these are the rules that are set forth I hope everyone can follow the rules instead of trying to make up your own.... What I don't understand is knowing these rules what is there to get upset about... The rules clearly state you are allowed to overdress as much as you like.... Just stop getting so bent out of shape if others don't, and enjoy your vacation
This is the funniest thing I've heard on this board...
Marc Zuckerberg wears a hoodie to share holder meetings and all public appearances...I guess he is would be considered too poor to cruise on the same one as you.
Go charter a boat for the rich and famous...free blow in the bathrooms.

Does he wear a hoodie to restaurants or establishments that have a dress code that ask him not to?
He is the CEO of the company he runs. So he dresses as he see's fit. Who set's the dress code for Facebook shareholder meetings?
He can afford the air fare to anywhere.
Because of his wealth do you think he should be excused from dress codes, and should be to wear what he prefers?
Well how about of the rolls were reversed?Wow... I'm going to try and not get myself banned, but your logic is so bad that you had to create a new account to post it... This is perhaps the dumbest post ever....
You probably think the driver opening the door in the tux is the one going on the cruise and not the person in shorts in the back....
I have no idea what he wears to restaurants nor do I care. I have too much stuff in my own life to be concerned about than to focus on someone's dress choices.
But I will say I admire him for shunning the corporate "dress code" and being comfortable in his own skin.
Well how about of the rolls were reversed?
A driver tuning up in shorts to drive you to a nice restaurant or evening with friends whilst you and your other are dressed in a tux and gown?
Appropriate?
Should all of the cm's dress down now? Wear shorts of an evening?
Should the captain turn up wearing shorts and a tee shirt?
You wear the appropriate clothing for where you are going.
If you can afford the cruise you can afford $100 in baggage fees. You do not want to pay the $100 baggage fee so complain it is too expensive to do it and that is the basis of your argument against dining attire requests or recommendations.
He is who he is and I admire hm for that.
So if you are eating at a nice restaurant and they require gown and suit for men, then Marc is allowed to just walk in wearing jeans and a hoodie because he is a billionaire, thats okay then?
