Non Existent Dress Code

I don't see much difference between wearing a nice tank top and wearing a sundress if you're seated at a table. People can basically see what type of top you have on, at least until you stand up, which you do when you enter and when you leave. So, I don't get why tank tops are frowned upon, but sundresses seem to be acceptable.

I don't know. Maybe I'm weird. :confused3

I said the same thing to my boyfriend after reading this ridiculous thread! All dresses are essentially really long tank tops. I personally don't understand why everyone can't just agree to disagree and put this thread to bed. Why hasn't it been shut down?!

This.. because if cruisers are going to do as they darn well please (dress code) then what's the point.

The point is, cruisers aren't just doing what they darn well please despite Disney's dress code. They are following the dress code. If DCL really wanted to draw a line in the sand and require a nicer dress code, they could. Even Carnival manages to do so and some people consider them to be the worst cruise line ever. (We happen to love the Breeze.) DCL is doing what the majority of their customers want. If you don't like it, feel free to complain to DCL. I imagine that's how the dress code was changed in the first place.

Good lord we have some people who have their panties in a bunch. When I go on vacation with my family, it is a vacation. I don't care what other people wear what other people do as long as it does not directly involve me.

Who cares what people wear in the MDR. If Disney allows shorts at dinner then it is what it is. At least you don't see people wearing a saran wrap suit for dinner.

For those who want to dress all formal like each and every night, more power to you. I am going to be comfortable in my shorts and polo shirt.

This debate always bums me out. I like to dress up but I don't care what others are wearing. As long as you are happy and not naked we can be friends. It also bums me out when people seem to be mad at people who dress up too. Like we did something wrong for wanting to look nice. I've read more than one person say "if you want to be all uncomfortable that's on you". Dressing up makes me feel comfortable. You should do what makes you feel comfortable. I also feel like this debate should be with Disney and not with each other. If you are upset about the dress code tell Disney. Maybe they will change it but until they do people just have to follow the basic rules. I've seen many people look nice in shorts and a top. "Nice" to me means clean and put together. Any way... I hope everyone has a great future cruise. :goodvibes

DCL is full of entitled guests - wasting food, saving seats, holding poolside chairs all day, having no pride in how they dress for the elegant dining rooms. It's just part of a general trend, and it's a reasonable reflection of our changing society. Those who wish for the (not so long ago) days of group kindness are destined to be unhappy.

We need to just accept the new "it's all about me" attitude and move on; fretting about something you can't change isn't much fun.

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions... heres mine:

WOW!!! Bitter much???

"You know, these clothes do not flatter you at all. It should be a dress or nothing. I happen to have nothing in my cabin."

Sorry couldn't resist! pirate:

We've cruised DCL twice, our only cruises ever. I honestly didn't much notice what others were wearing! We walked in, we sat down, and enjoyed our family, table mates, and the food! How can you see what others are wearing when you are sitting down enjoying your meal?

These threads always fascinate me.

The same people that notice stains on the ceiling, rust on an older ship that means if is falling apart etc, that had us wrongly thinking the Magic was falling apart post drydock (she wasn't and was in the best shape we have ever seen).

I truly think some people look for things to bother them, and let it impact their lives. While I agree there is an entitlement generation getting a foothold right now, not everyone is like that and in fact not even close. How clothes have anything to do with that I will never know. I have always enjoyed activities with people from all walks of life, and guess what there are jerks and and salt of the earth people at both ends of the spectrum.

If you put nice clothes on a person with a sense of entitlement, guess what they will still feel the same sense of entitlement. There are luxury lines out there for people that want that experience, that is not DCL. The casual atmosphere seems like a perfect fit for a product based on cartoon characters:)

I am amused too by these threads and have done well not posting till now. This is also coming from someone that the most I have ever dressed down is khaki pants and a polo shirt.
