NoAlice?Rabbit,Hatter&Chessie Do a HolidayTrip.NEW11/27 1 More Day&I crush on Snowmen

Well 11:00 pm Monday night has come and gone but according to PECO- PA Electric CO... as of this morning -8ish there were 600 homes still out in Montgomery County and 3000 employees out working...:scratchin

So... that would seem to be in our favor...:confused3

I'm not going to freak, I'm working on staying calm and be thankful...

When this is done though and we have power... I want to make something to remember never to take a lot of those little everyday things for granted...

Yesterday, David's grade did one of the cutest things I've ever seen...( I took photos and will post later when I can...:rolleyes1)

In honor of and because Presidential Elections are such good learning experiences, His class put on a "Presidential Wax Museum" for his school...

the kids were all assigned/selected a President and did research and created speeches...

they presented in the gym in costume, each at their own table with their own poster boards...

you walked up to their table... and pressed a "button" and the wax figures came to life and told you about themselves...

It was really awesome... I can't wait to post some photos...

David was Dwight David Eisenhower...

Hmmm... You'd think the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces and 34th President of the US would be able to get his mom some electricity...:rotfl2:

23 Days Until Sunny Warm Disney World...:woohoo:

DAY!

That is AWESOME - the power coming back on and David's costume and President display. I usually am not a big fan of 5th grad projects, because I remember there being one every month and they involved multiple trips to Michaels, but I have to say that that project looked really cool. What a great learning experience.

So, I am guessing you were one of the last 600 people in Montgomery County to get electricity. What are the odds? :rotfl:

woot for power! but are you nervous about this snow storm at all??totally wigged out!! I just turned my heat way up, so if power does go out, I at least have a warm house for a bit!

Your son is so dang cute and so is his class! is that his whole grade??

Love it... I'll bet she was pretty dang cute...:thumbsup2 I used to love those old Shirley Temple movies when I was a kid... hmmm... I was a funky little kid...:confused3

Hurrah!!!! :thumbsup2 Glad to hear you are warm and safe!

Thank you! me too...:cool1: we do have a Noreaster coming in that's supposed to drop 5 inches of snow... should be interesting...

Yes I have my frequent trips to Michaels but I really did like this one... It was really well done...I have to give the kids and their teachers big kudos...

Yep... I'm not sure but I'm guessing we were pretty close to the end:rotfl2: I can laugh now...It wouldn't be pretty this morning if we were still without power... the guys who came out were really nice though...I imagine they've had a pretty hard week too...:sad2:

OMG... I know...seriously... I feel like we are being targeted... what the heck? Last time I looked... they were talking about 5 inches of snow...

Thanks I think he's pretty cute... and he's such a good guy...Yep that's his whole grade... It's a pretty small school...It's a really nice place K-6 ....

Yay!! So glad your power is back on!!!:dance3:

Aww...what a great idea to make a Presidential Wax Museum!! A very creative project and so much fun for the kids!!:thumbsup2

:cool1: Yay for power! :cool1: We have another Nor'Easter coming tonight with heavy wet snow, so I expect to lose our power before this is over :sad2:

So glad you have you're power back! David's presentation and outfit looked great. Our girls both did a similar thing with a wide range of historical figures in 5th grade. such a cool way to get kids involved in the nation's history.

We're at the 3 week mark!!!!! Can you smell Disney yet?

I am delirious with joy that we finally got our power back and I will seriously never take it for granted again...:)

OH no... I hope that you didn't... lose your power :worried:... it looked like Connecticut took the brunt... and those poor people in New York got about 4 inches too...like they needed it...:sad2:

YEA FOR POWER!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

:ccat::ccat::ccat::ccat::ccat: I was feeling quite bouncy about it...lol :rotfl2:

Power = :cloud9:

I actually learned a lot while looking over David's project...Eisenhower was really an impressive figure... I thought the military outfit was a good way to make him stand out... since the military was such an important part of Eisenhower's life and directly responsible for his path to the Presidency...

We're at the 3 week mark!!!!! Can you smell Disney yet?

I can smell it, I can feel it, I can see it, I can hear it and I can taste it... well ok maybe not taste it... but you get the idea...:rotfl2:

YAY for power and Presidents! That is absolutely adorable, Eric would eat something like that up!

Our 6th film in the series of 8 featuring Disney Trios...

This week's film is Pinocchio

IMG_0443.jpg

and the trio is

Pinocchio, Figaro and Cleo...

IMG_0454.jpg

They were all Gepetto's charges, his "children" if you will... (Ok this trio is a little loose... I was also considering Bambi, Thumper and Flower... but Pinocchio won)

This movie is so lovely... the animation is gorgeous, it features, the Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket and the song "When You Wish Upon a Star"...

Since Pinocchio is an Italian character, I made pasta for dinner (sadly no photo), we had a little pre dinner limoncello and I got tiramisu from Trader Joe's and it was pretty good...not homemade good but good nonetheless..(I like a stronger coffee taste-this was very mild):(...

IMG_0436.jpg

We learned a little Italian (Italian is such a pretty melodic language...)

IMG_0457.jpg

In addition to being a great Disney classic, Pinocchio was written in Florence by Carlo Collodi in 1883. Which is a great sequeway into some exciting news for us...

During Spring Break in March, we're going to be going to Italy... 4 days in Florence and 5 days in Rome. (Eric and I went to Italy once before years ago... to Venice and Florence.)

This trip is a big part of our holiday gifts and We're planning on renting apartments since they're very family friendly and we need to watch our food budget but...

I am extremely excited..., the Sistine Chapel, the Colisseum, pasta, pizza, gelato and cappuccino... the Leaning Tower of Pisa (yes it is touristy but I really want to see it), the green hills of Tuscany...

Next year is going to be a great travel year... with the Spring trip and the Summer Road Trip... and we'll all be together... until Ems goes to college next Fall...:(

Yay for getting power back!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Yep when I think about what I was doing a week ago... I can't believe how lucky I am today...:goodvibes

YAY for power and Presidents! That is absolutely adorable, Eric would eat something like that up!

Yes for both... the Presidents thing really was pretty awesome... it honestly warmed my own history geek heart ...:thumbsup2

Woo Hoo for 19 days! :cheer2:

Even more so - double woo hoo for Italy over Spring Break. So jealous!

I love your plans and I can't wait to see what you thing of Be Our Guest CS and Yachtsman. I am actually thinking of doing both of those this summer. Yachtsman is the only signature I haven't eaten at. Not sure whether to do it in June or wait for October.

Is Em good about doing all her applications or do you have to give her reminders? Right before the Maryland application was due I warned Nick that if the power went out and it wasn't done I was disowning him. :rotfl2: I also just learned that Nick's verbal SAT was 10 points too low for being exempt from English 101 at Maryland. :faint: Of course, he could care less.

Lemoncello. Yum. Did I spell that right? :rotfl: Love that you are still doing the movie nights. So cool.

Ahhhh...9 days in Italy. Florence and Rome.

Sigh. How lovely! It won't be terribly warm then but you won't have crowds either which will be magical. Jeff and I had our belated honeymoon there in early April of 06. Dying to go back.

We had Pizza, at Pisa. Just cuz it's fun to say!

Love the Pinocchio/Italy update!
