NoAlice?Rabbit,Hatter&Chessie Do a HolidayTrip.NEW11/27 1 More Day&I crush on Snowmen

Those handwarmers are adorable! I'll have to get some of those if we really go next NYE.

I meant to say, I'll be shocked if all of Fantasyland isn't open. We saw almost all of it in Oct except for BOG and there have been soft previews of that as well since then so I think you will be golden!

It would be wrong if you didn't buy Brave. :goodvibes Nice excuse to snap it up though!

I haven't seen Brave yet, but I've heard such good things about it!!! And YES I especially love that Merida has a mess of curly hair (to which I can completely relate!!)

I love Target...and COMPLETELY missed that Disney holiday section the last time we were there!!! Hmm...I'm thinking we may need to make a trip to Target soon...:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I am stopping at Costco on the way home from work today and now I think I need to swing by Target as well. I love those socks. I have to get a pair! :thumbsup2

Oooooh...I love those handwarmers. I just sent Andy an email with a picture of them and told him that he and Des (his girlfriend) should go and pick some up. I told him it would be a little hard for me to explain buying them when Mark and I go to Target on our once a week visit.

And I want a pair of those slippers too.

We've not yet seen Brave, but I hope to rent it and see it Thanksgiving weekend.

The handwarmers are pretty darn cute... and they come in lots of characters/ and combos-like Mickey & Minnie...:goodvibes
& the Slipper socks are nice & toasty...

Brave is quite good... it just isn't the traditional princess love story... Merida's triplet brothers are absolutely adorable... and a little impish...

Can I go next NYE too?...:woohoo:

:) I am pretty much counting on it... but you know... until I actually see it... I'll be a teeny bit nervous...

It would be wrong if you didn't buy Brave. :goodvibes Nice excuse to snap it up though!

:rolleyes1 It's nice to have a rationale behind these purchases (not that I need one... but it's nice to be able to justify...;)

Curly Girlies Unite! :grouphug:

Yes I definitely think you need a trip to Target soon... the thing with them is that they go through merchandise quickly but then they're sure to get something new in that's good pretty quickly... I've found out that if I see something I want to snap it up as soon as I see it...

I am stopping at Costco on the way home from work today and now I think I need to swing by Target as well. I love those socks. I have to get a pair! :thumbsup2

Yep you need them...::yes::sigh... you can pick up adult beverages at your Costco too... you don't have the archaic PA state store laws...:sad2:

Hey Patricia!

Great finds at Target, getting that Christmas mojo going already! Brave looks like a very cool movie, love the tie-in with your DD and the pictures of you and her. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO GOOOO!!!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay:

And thank you to Jenn for that list - totally borrowing from that, thank you for saving me from building one from scratch :goodvibes

Hey Mike... I'm glad you all are on track for your trip...

Brave is awesome... I hope we get to see Merida at the park... last I heard she is doing a meet and greet...

As of today we are down to 11 days... we're heading to single digits...:yay:

11 Days till Disney Go Time... (and 2 days till single digits... :yay:)

....and 4 Days till Thanksgiving... I  Thanksgiving...

Well I haven't exactly packed yet but I am starting to collect toiletries and whatnots...

more on the whatnots... it turns out our local drugstore (Walgreens... I'm not sure if they're national or just regional) has become a mini Dis holiday store...

so I picked up a couple more fun things to take...

IMG_0507.jpg

IMG_0514.jpg

And my favorites...These light up and "snow" flies about when you turn them on....

IMG_0508.jpg

IMG_0509.jpg

As a precursor to Thanksgiving, Eric and I went out for a little "pie" before seeing a movie last night...

We're both huge pie fans... both sweet and savory and with the cupcake craze... it's nice for a change to find a place dedicated to pie....

Magpie...

IMG_0517.jpg

IMG_0518.jpg

Smoked Gouda Butternut Squash... this was soooo good... there was squash and spinach and a creamy cheese sauce throughout.... and a little bit of crust... I started to eat and then took the photo... it was prettier before my fork got to it...

IMG_0523.jpg

Eric's Chicken Pot Pie... also good... I just preferred mine....

IMG_0522.jpg

and then what I was really waiting for...the sweet pie....

IMG_0521.jpg

Eric had Carmel Apple...it was really good-flaky crust, well cooked apples...sweet but not too sweet...

IMG_0525.jpg

but this... This was EPIC

IMG_0524.jpg

Bourbon Butterscotch :faint: ... imagine creme brulee... but an American version in a pie crust.... It was amazing.... the filling was creamy and lush... and the crust was really flaky.... and there was awesome coffee to go with it...a Philadelphia home grown coffee company... La Colombe... really great stuff... This trumps Starbucks when I can get it...

So completely and happily full ...

Afterwords ... we went to see this

IMG_0528.jpg

(Funny in the photo... the lit up clock face behind me shows up in the Photo...)

It was excellent...and educational and emotional... not light entertainment by any means but really worth seeing.

...Daniel Day Lewis did a great job of portaying a Lincoln who was a very, very good man but also a very human man... Sally Field kept Mary Todd Lincoln from becoming a caricature... Tommy Lee Jones...well the whole cast was just amazing... I have a need to see the Lincoln Memorial soon...

(There were also previews for the upcoming Hitchcock film starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock... It looks like it focuses on the making of Psycho... It looks like a must see...:thumbsup2

Also has anyone seen the preview for Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway? Wow... another must see...:thumbsup2

Best wishes to everyone with Thanksgiving Preparations /and or any traveling...

I'll update again when we get into single digits...:cool1:

Walgreens does always have cute Disney merchandise! I always forget about checking there for little whatnots!

An entire restaurant devoted to pie??? Awesome. Your meal there looks so good!!

Yep you need them...::yes::sigh... you can pick up adult beverages at your Costco too... you don't have the archaic PA state store laws...:sad2:

Wow - It never occured to me that Pa Costcos would not have liquor. :faint: That really STINKS! I love Costco's liquor store. They don't have an extensive selection, but what they do have is priced really well and they even have wine tasting on the weekends. :thumbsup2

How did I miss this update yesterday????????????? I was off and on the DIS a bagillion times. Now I can't see your food porn pictures and I am SO disappointed.

Glad you enjoyed the movie! :thumbsup2 Sounds really good.

I noticed that Walgreen's had some really cute Disney Halloween merchandise. I haven't perused the Christmas stuff yet, but I guess I need to.

Okay, where is this Magpie place??? I have to make a vacation out of it just to go there! YUM!!!

Love the little light up snow blowy things....very cute and not park prices :thumbsup2

There are SO many great movies out and coming soon that I want to see. Our nearest theater is an hour away and I never get to see them until they come out on DVD or pay per view. Lincoln looks good and Les Mis looks amazing! But anything with those two would be amazing :lovestruc

Almost single digits – Whoohoo! And yes, our Walgreens goes totally Disney at the holidays too so it must be national.

Loved the pie excursion, how very cool. DW would love the dessert pie you chose, she loves crème brûlée. Lincoln looks really good but we’ll probably wait to see it on blue ray. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Hopkins as Hitchcock aye, that would be interesting.

Good luck with your Thanksgiving prep also! We just got news last night that DW's aunt is coming to town tomorrow and will be staying at our house while we're at WDW. It is a good thing but has caught us a bit off guard - lol

Ooohhh...I really want to see Brave! I've heard so many great things! I'll have to pick it up this weekend.:thumbsup2

Target always has the cutest Disney things. I wish we lived closer to one....:(

But, we do have a Walgreens! I'll have to make a trip there tomorrow!:)

Yum! Those pies look delish!::yes::

Yay for almost being in single digits!!!:yay:

OMG - those pies looks amazing. So glad I couldn't see them this morning when I was hungry. I would have....:faint:

With this busy week ahead, your trip will be here before you know it!

So glad that you liked Lincoln, we are planning to see it this coming weekend. Hitchcock is also on my list. AND yes, we've see the preview to Les Mis. It looks fabulous!

Now, I'm off to Target thanks to you....:drive:

Oh!! Those pies look wonderful!!!

They were amazingly good... I think pie when it's done well may be one of the best American desserts...:thumbsup2 Do you have a German kind of equivalent to pie?

Walgreens does always have cute Disney merchandise! I always forget about checking there for little whatnots!

They really do... I sometimes forget actually how much Disney stuff they do get in... and the prices are usually really good...

An entire restaurant devoted to pie??? Awesome. Your meal there looks so good!!

It was really yummy... It's a small place... only 20 seats and it opened in August... They do a good business in whole pie orders... I hope they make it... it's gotten good buzz so I'll think they will...:thumbsup2

Wow - It never occured to me that Pa Costcos would not have liquor. :faint: That really STINKS! I love Costco's liquor store. They don't have an extensive selection, but what they do have is priced really well and they even have wine tasting on the weekends. :thumbsup2

Yes we have lovely alcohol laws here...:rolleyes1 That's why I sometimes make my purchases in NJ or less frequently DE... :drive: and I always bring stuff back when we go on vacations...:ssst: don't tell...

How did I miss this update yesterday????????????? I was off and on the DIS a bagillion times. Now I can't see your food porn pictures and I am SO disappointed.

Glad you enjoyed the movie! :thumbsup2 Sounds really good.

It's hard to Dis on your phone... I learned that well when we lost our power...

Great film... especially if you're a history nerd like yours truly...:p

I noticed that Walgreen's had some really cute Disney Halloween merchandise. I haven't perused the Christmas stuff yet, but I guess I need to.

Check them out... they really get some cute well priced stuff...

Okay, where is this Magpie place??? I have to make a vacation out of it just to go there! YUM!!!

It's in Philadelphia... if you ever come through... let me know and I'll show you all the sights including the good food places...:goodvibes

Love the little light up snow blowy things....very cute and not park prices :thumbsup2

Exactly...::yes::

There are SO many great movies out and coming soon that I want to see. Our nearest theater is an hour away and I never get to see them until they come out on DVD or pay per view. Lincoln looks good and Les Mis looks amazing! But anything with those two would be amazing :lovestruc

Wow... are you closer to a city in NH or actually in Maine...? Ah... Les Mis looks like it is going to be amazing...:cloud9: and I think a serious tear jerker...

Almost single digits – Whoohoo! And yes, our Walgreens goes totally Disney at the holidays too so it must be national.

Hmmm... Yes if you have it in the Pacific Northwest and it's in the MidAtlantic and New England...I'm guessing it is national and

yeah for ...

single digits...:cool1:

Loved the pie excursion, how very cool. DW would love the dessert pie you chose, she loves crème brûlée. Lincoln looks really good but we’ll probably wait to see it on blue ray. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Hopkins as Hitchcock aye, that would be interesting.

It was great especially with a good cup of coffee and it was sweet but not crazy sweet...(I don't like overly sweet desserts if that makes sense...

Lincoln was amazing but I do think that it would be easier to follow especially in the beginning if you are a history nerd... but still even if not... very good...do rent it... Yes... I do think it will be interesting to see what Hopkins does with Hitchcock...:scratchin

Good luck with your Thanksgiving prep also! We just got news last night that DW's aunt is coming to town tomorrow and will be staying at our house while we're at WDW. It is a good thing but has caught us a bit off guard - lol

Oh wow... a surprise guest... well, what's that saying... "there's always room for one more at the table"... it might be nice to have her there too for your MIL while your away... it should give you some peace of mind...::yes::

Ooohhh...I really want to see Brave! I've heard so many great things! I'll have to pick it up this weekend.:thumbsup2

OMG... you must see Brave... just know that it's a little different than most of the traditional princess films... but it's wonderful... the triplets are great...:goodvibes

Target always has the cutest Disney things. I wish we lived closer to one....:(

Oh wow... I'm in response mode and I can't remember where you live... I feel like I can't drive 15-20 minutes without running into one...

But, we do have a Walgreens! I'll have to make a trip there tomorrow!:)

Actually except for the Target ornaments this year... I actually felt that Walgreens had more Disney Christmas stuff...:)

Yum! Those pies look delish!::yes::

Yay for almost being in single digits!!!:yay:

Actually I could go for a slice of pie right about now... and I can not believe I'm going to be at 9 Days tomorrow...:rotfl:

OMG - those pies looks amazing. So glad I couldn't see them this morning when I was hungry. I would have....:faint:

Gosh I'm getting hungry... I had an early dinner... and I've adopted "healthy lifestyle changes" so no bedtime snacks for me...Hmmm maybe some grapes...

With this busy week ahead, your trip will be here before you know it!

I know it...:goodvibes

So glad that you liked Lincoln, we are planning to see it this coming weekend. Hitchcock is also on my list. AND yes, we've see the preview to Les Mis. It looks fabulous!

You will love Lincoln... it's interesting... you start seeing parallels between today's government and the government at the time...;) There are some really great looking films coming up... BTW... Mary Poppins is fabulous isn't it? I love how they freshened up the whole story and energized it... The movie is very good but the musical... WOW... you're going to be singing those songs for months...:goodvibes

Now, I'm off to Target thanks to you....:drive:

Good shopping...:thumbsup2

We have Walgreens here and I get a lot of my Disney stuff there.

I showed Mark your pictures of the two pies and he is sitting here drooling (I don't like pie so I wasn't drooling :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:).

Our oldest son and his girlfriend went to see Lincoln while we were out of town visiting our youngest son and they said it was spectacular.

Happy Thanksgiving if I don't get back here.

They were amazingly good... I think pie when it's done well may be one of the best American desserts...:thumbsup2 Do you have a German kind of equivalent to pie?

Interesting question... First of all: anything cake-like (and I would include pies in that) would never be considered dessert here in Germany. Cake is something you have in the afternoon (between 2 and 4pm) with a cup of coffee.

I think the only version of pie which is common here in Germany is apple pie. Otherwise having a crust with a filling is rather uncommon. What we do have a lot are "yeast cakes" which is usually a slightly sweet yeast dough on a baking tray (think thicker than pizza, about an inch high) where you can put any fruit on top, or just butter and sugar, or streusel (you can pout the streusel on top of the fruit as well). My favourite version is with plums and is a typical late summer treat! The Bavarian name for that is "Zwetschgendatschi" :goodvibes Now I am hungry for some cake...
