no rooms for asm

I called for sept 6-14 and there was no rooms aval for all star movies for that date. Dose that mean it will be very crowded? Any way I am going to pop century. They said it was cheeper because it had less tax. I have no idea why. How are the pools at pop? Dose it have the sprayer pool like asm?

I heard something about Pop having less tax because the actual building is in a different county or something... seems really weird! I can't answer your questions about Pop b/c I never stayed there.. we're staying at ASMo for the first time in 3 weeks!

I have no idea about the crowds that weekend, but in answer to your other question regarding taxes, WDW actually is in two different counties- Orange and Oceola. AKL and some of the All Stars are in Oceola which I believe has a 6.5% tax vs a 6% tax. I think I found this info in the Passporter.

The sales/resort tax difference is because the resorts are in different counties (different taxing units) as mhingher stated. The difference is 1/2 of 1% - approx 50 cents a night. Don't do any worrying or planning just because of this minor differnce.

I would check out some of the POP posts to answer you question about the pools.

Sales tax for the All Stars hotels is 13% (hotel tax is different than sales tax). Not sure about AKL but the rest of the resorts are 11.5% sales tax.

If you had your heart set on ASMo then I would keep calling. But if you are okay with Pop then you won't be disappointed either. We enjoyed our last stay there. It's newer (of course) and we thought the furniture was a little bit nicer. The food court was huge and you had the added benefits of frozen cokes! The grounds were a lot of fun - take time to walk around. As far as the pools, they are comparable to ASMo. The main pool is the "Hippy Dippy Pool" and it's located in the 60's area, which is the main area. It's very big, has lots of steps and areas and it's shaped like a flower (think "flower power" ) We mainly enjoyed this pool as we have little kids and the kiddie pool was nearby. )The kiddie pool is great as well - zero entry and a lot of fun for them with squirting water thingy's ) The other pools are located in the 90's section (which is far from everything) and in the 50's. They are large and neatly themed. Plenty of places to swim for sure!! One last plus (besides the fact that you saved money is that Pop doesn't share buses like the other All stars do. Have a great time!!!!
