Great update! You're making me really excited to go to the Christmas Party! It looks amazing. The picture you posted of one of the Main St. shops with wreaths in the windows just makes me impatient for the holiday season. It screamed December in Disney.

This is the first trip report I've ever read. It was wonderful. I'm going that same time this year that you went last year but we're not going for food and wine. This will be the first time seeing Christmas decorations and the Osborne Christmas lights. I've been reading your trip report science 9:00 this morning and just finished. I'm going to start reading your next tr now . I've been sick since last night and reading this is starting to make me feel better.

Too bad about the Phineas and Ferb picture being a bit blurry. Your half of the picture is great. It would have been a nice picture to frame if your could actually see Brandon's face.

I have never seen Phineas and Ferb pictures at the Christmas party in pictures on the boards. That set up is so cute. I would love to see Perry too. Or Dr. D. He is awesome. They should have him out when they have special villian events.

I want to go to WDW in Dec sooooo bad. I just tried a few weeks ago to let me take Caitlin for a quick weekend but John said no. He made that point that I have no money for a trip right now and of course he is right. But one of these days I'll get there. I am determined to get down there before Caitlin is out of middle school bc after that I won't pull her out of school. I have 4 years to make it down there.

The good news is that John didn't shoot down Marathon weekend if I decide I want to do the marathon. I made a reservation when the DV discounts came out just in case. I accidentally left the confirmation letter open on my phone and of course the one time he borrowed my phone he saw it. He wasn't too happy about it but never said no. By the end of the night he just said "Why do we have to go for 3 nights, can't we just fly out the day before and go home the night of the race" I'm still waiting until like Nov. or Dec. to book flights. Not really sure I can do a 26.2 mile race yet.

As weird as it would be for you to leave CT, I would love for you to finally move to FL. It would give me an excuse to get down there as much as I could.
Just do it already!!!

Anyway, yay Christmas! I had so much fun at the MVMCP in '09 and have been wanting to go back for forever. Nothing like seeing Main Street all lit up and beautiful with those amazing Castle lights leading you!

Crystal Palace is the best! When are you going in May? I'm considering going in May if things with December don't work out...it's a toss up between January and May...no crowds in January, or Flower and Garden Festival and SWW in May...hmmm...

I'm sorry your Merrels weren't comfortable! It's definitely a trick to find comfy Disney shoes. My feet and so used to them that all I normally wear are flip flops. I prefer the Teva Mush though.

They were ok, but I was expecting them to be better! I like the Teva Mush too, but I can't wear flip flops all day, I have to switch! Sadly, I haven't found anything better than my hideous old Crocs yet!

The royal rooms are so so pretty. I with they weren't so many points on DVC.

They are...I'd love to stay in one again!

That hawk on the top of SSE is so cool! He had the right idea. If I was a bird, I'd totally sit up there all day.

It's so nice to meet people at Disney that love it as much as you, isn't it? Especially if you feel like you don't have that many people to talk to about it at home.

It is, I have no one to talk Disney with at home, no one cares lol! Disney people are the best, that's why I want to move there!

I always take the walking option now between Epcot and DHS. It's a bit of a distance, but having to wait for buses sometimes sucks, so it's a great alternative.

Yeah, I'm really glad we tried it, it's not too bad of a walk! I wouldn't want to do it in the summer but at night in November, it's nice! We were just so tired that night!

Disney danish is always good, but having two disappointing ones in a row is kinda crappy, I have to say. I'd be so sad!

I know, I don't know what the problem was, I love my Disney danish!!!

And yeah, 2013 was pretty much the worst year for me in a while...I'm ready for it to be over! I have a good feeling about 2014!

Thanks! The castle lights are the best!! Hmm, yeah, it's tough to say if going with the baby to MVMCP is a good idea or not...if you don't think you can stay late it might be a waste to buy tickets, then again, maybe she can just sleep in her stroller while you guys party (quietly, haha! )!

Haha, we're the opposite with the holidays, I'm addicted to MVMCP and Christmas at WDW! But I want to go back for Halloween, I just don't know how that can happen unless I skip Christmas! I love it at Halloween, but then I get so depressed at the thought of no Christmas in Disney! Ahh my dream lights...they are so perfect!

Yeah I'm upset that picture didn't turn out very good, they were the only characters I really wanted to meet at the party! Oh well!

I wish Perry was somewhere in the parks, or Dr. D...I feel like they are losing popularity though, so it's probably only a matter of time before P&F are gone.

If I were you, I'd just skip the marathon all together and go in November next year for the Wine and Dine half...that way you can do the race, do the end of Food and Wine and the beginning of Christmas. The only thing you will miss for Christmas is the Candlelight Processional, and trust me, Caitlin will not like it, it's an hour of listening to someone read the bible and a choir singing Christmas songs. I don't know how any kids sit through it, it's more of an adult thing. Oh and all the resorts won't be decorated yet...but you would get to do MVMCP and the Osborne Lights, and those are the 2 most important things, I think! Someday I want to go for like, 2 weeks before Christmas and stay in the Wilderness Lodge and the Yacht Club because they are the 2 most Christmasy resorts.

Yeah I'm trying...if I could just move there now I would, but it's not possible. Hopefully a year or two.

Are you thinking of doing a solo trip? Go for it! I really want to do a solo trip soon, the only time I wouldn't do it is December because I'd miss Brandon too much, I know he likes all of the Christmas decorations! But any other time, I'd love to give it a try!

We had a wonderful trip with the kids (my step-daughter and son). Our next trip is planned for April 2014 and our Moms and my sister will be coming with us. Definitely the biggest group I have traveled with in a long time.

So, I think after that trip my DH and I will definitely deserve a couple's trip. Though it is very hard not to feel guilty going to without the kids.

Major Life Update!!!


Hi guys! So I have some really exciting news I need to share with you...but first, I have to get the boring stuff out of the way.

I'm sure it's been obvious that I've been going through some...hmm...drama, this year. It's honestly been the worst year for me since 2009 when my dad died, there were times I didn't think I would get through it. But now it all seems to finally be getting better...

To make a LONG story short, (because I'm just SO tired of talking about this and I'm ready to move on finally, but I want you guys to know...) I quit my job in May. Just like that. Nothing lined up, no back up plan, nothing. I was at my job for 6 years and while it wasn't the best job in the world, I liked parts of it, and I thought I had a good relationship with my director and assistant director. Unfortunately, that place THRIVES on drama and for some reason, after 6 years, I was their target, and they were just treating me horribly. After many panic attacks, days of crying, drinking margaritas on work nights (completely unlike me, if you know me at all!)...I had to leave. There's obviously much more to it than that, but I don't want to get into it, and honestly, you guys will be like "WHAT?????" because it's just so ridiculous.

So my mom was in the hospital over the summer, and I decided while I was there, watching the nurses and pct's (patient care techs) that I should get into nursing. I've wanted to forever, but I've always been too afraid. So I asked my sister, who works in the hospital, how I could get a job as a pct and she told me to get my CNA license. So I took a CNA course in July and got my license in September (don't ask...the course was 4 weeks long, and I assumed once you finished the course, you had your license, but they made us wait 2 months to take the state test! ). I've applied to some PCT jobs at the hospitals around here, but my sister keeps telling me they take forever to hire people. And it must be true, I applied to these jobs at the end of September and I stalk my application status every day, and it just says "thank you for applying, your application is being reviewed"

Luckily, I have a friend who works at a doctor's office, who told me to apply there for a medical records position. I did it on a whim, thinking nothing would come of it, and this past Monday, I got hired! I start this coming Monday! No, it's not my dream job, but the pay is good, there are benefits, and I only have to work 4 days a week! I'm still going to apply to hospitals and try to follow my dream, but for now, I'm excited to be trying something totally new!

Ok, enough boring depressing stuff...my REAL reason for updating is...new job means...


I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!

All this time, I've been praying to find a job by October, and I didn't think it would happen...I was starting to give up hope, starting to think we'd have to go in January, or even April or May...but somehow, it all worked out! It's only going to be 5 days, 11/30-12/4 and super cheap, but I don't care! All I care about is being in the parks, seeing all of the Christmas lights, hearing the music, eating Disney food...OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!! Not only do I get to see all of my favorite Christmas things...I get to have STARBUCKS in Disney! I get to see the Tangled bathrooms!!! I feel like when I set foot on Disney property, I'm going to just collapse into a ball of tears...this year has seriously been so awful and now I'm ending it with a trip to my favorite place at my favorite time of year!

So my plan is to finish this TR up very soon, I mean, it's taken long enough right? Then I'm going to start a PTR for my next trip!!! I wasn't going to do a PTR, but I'm SO excited about going back, that I can't NOT do one!!!! I will keep you guys updated! Thanks for sticking with me and still reading this, even though it's 100 years old!

Wow Jen. Sorry that you had to go through an unhealthy work situation. That really, really stinks. It hurts in a lot of ways - your pocket book, your self esteem. Congrats on finishing your CNA class and getting your certificate. I hope you find something in the hospital, but quite honestly you are probably better in an office. There may be opportunities for you to put some of those skills in place and in the hospital the CNS work is not so glamorous. Don't give you on your nursing dream. Start taking courses at a local community college - you know the pre-req stuff (unless you have already completed that elsewhere).

Congrats on your new job. I hope you love the staff and the patients and working 4 days a week is awesome!

What's even better is a trip to Disney World. Congrat!
