No more smoking or vaping in the parks

:rotfl2: The only people who would possibly confuse the two smells are people who have lost their sense of smell or one of those smokers who mistakenly believes they don't stink.

Yeah, I've never heard of anyone confusing outdoor cooking smells with a cigarette.

Mmm, is that a jumbo turkey leg cooking? Oh no wait, it's the DSA! Is someone grilling up some burgers? Oh no, that's the ashtray!

Yeah, Disney sure didn't think this one out ... they're going to have people leaving the park in droves headed towards the new DSA area thinking they can get a funnel cake out there! :rotfl2:

And yet you keep commenting???
Clearly you missed the humor in the post and it went right over your head that I was poking at myself....but thankfully you were right there to do it for me :P

the poster was pointing out that all the comments about how the DSA's are messing with everyone's allergies but no one complains about two of the worst culprits. So yes, in the sense he used the comparison it does have something to do with it.
That's not how allergies work...

Now we realize why there were so many non-smokers that ended up in the DSAs getting smoke blown at them! They were confused that it was a food area!! I'm laughing so hard, this has been great!

Oh for pete's sakes. Of course no one confuses the turkey leg with a DSA. That would be ridiculous.

A fire used for cooking can make smoke. Someone burning food can make smoke. Food that for whatever reason doesn't smell good can smell like smoke.

It didn't "go over my head".

Sweetie, I have allergies; I am well aware of how they work. My step grandson has Cystic Fibrous and I am well aware how THAT works. My niece's son has asthma and I am well aware how THAT works. Want to try again?

Are you really comparing cigarette smoke to camp fires? Can this get any more ridiculous?

If folks didn’t smoke, imagine how much more money they would have for retirement. Mind blown.

Sweetie? I don't have an issue discussing topics with you. That is if you don't try to patronize me :D

Maybe it's best you just step away from answering me on this topic at this point. I'll do the same ::yes::

But then also imagine all the unintended consequences. All those who work in the industry who are now unemployed. All the excess health care workers who no longer are needed because smoking related diseases end. It would devastate the economy.

We have the opioid crisis now. No shortage of folks prematurely dying to keep healthcare workers employed.

Next you’re going to say we need more wars, so that we can keep more military folks employed. World peace would totally devastate our defense spending budget.

Was typed in a satirical tone. Trying to highlight that there rarely is an easy answer, there rarely is a black and white yes or no correct or incorrect answer either.

Then I'm sure you also know that not everyone's asthma presents the same way. Heck, mine is not the same day to day. And yes, at Disney I know not to be down wind of any fireworks smoke. Which I have never confused with a DSA.

Yes, there is. Second hand smoke is bad. We know this. There is no grey area. It’s like climate change. We know it’s happening. It’s also like the earth is round. We know this too. There is no grey area for any of these.

We know it is bad but we also live in a society where people have conflicting rights and those have to be balanced.

What rights? I thought this was about Disney Parks, which means we’re talking about private property rights. Are you saying Disney doesn’t have the right to tell folks not to smoke in their parks?

No more than they will admit that that smell they thought was smoke just might not have been a cigarette but something cooking. (not that it makes it ok but not the same thing either).

Obviously you know people who confuse the two, but they are in the minority for sure!! It is mind boggling to me that anyone could confuse the two!!!

My husband (who grew up with parents who were heavy smokers) and I, can both smell cigarette smoke long before we actually see where the person is who is smoking it. I can't even fathom EVER getting confused between cigarette smoke and something cooking!!

For the record, I hate the smell of a smoky campfire, but I would never confuse that smell with cigarette smoke.

I don't have asthma or allergies, but I haven't watched Illuminations in years (and we typically spend 4 weeks a year at Disney) and the main reason is the smoke!! While everyone else has been so sad that Illuminations is coming to a close, I have been quietly celebrating and hoping that the new show might somehow have less smoke!! Probably wishful thinking and not a big deal either way though!
