No more smoking or vaping in the parks

Thought we established that pages ago.
WTH why did you quote me? I say it's probably best to step away from answering me on this topic and I would do the same to you. Instead of leaving it you quote me again. Unbelievable.

Please, don't quote me again on this topic. I would greatly appreciate it.

I am going to request the same.... Don't quote me anymore. I've said all I could about this self- destructive behavior. I wish you all good health.

But on a personal level, I'm so disappointed that we'll never take that adults-only trip we've been talking about for years or give DD her 21st birthday wish with a Food & Wine trip.

First, she's hardly a kid - turning 18 and headed off to college this year. Second, she's had a dozen or so WDW trips with family, so if our family celebration of her 21st happens elsewhere, she's hardly missing out. Odds are that I'm more disappointed with the change than she'll be, because she will just end up planning a girls' trip to F&W with her friends and we'll take her elsewhere to celebrate 21.

OK! It sounded pretty sad when you first posted it, that this addiction was going to prevent something you've talked about for years. Glad to know her 21st birthday wish will adapt and she can just go with her friends!

Yeah, the sadness is mine. It is something we've talked about since she was pretty young - I think she was 13 or 14 when I went to a Food & Wine preview (similar to Party of the Senses) as part of a professional conference. After seeing the pictures from the event, she announced she wanted to do that when she turned 21. Now that she's headed off to college in San Francisco? With a birthday right at the start of the academic year, I suspect heading up to Napa with friends is going to sound a lot cooler than WDW with Mom. But for me, the smoking ban is one more thing contributing to the end of an era that part of me would really like to hang on to a little longer, if that makes sense.

My husband, on the other hand, isn't sad at all - he's been trying to get me to Vegas for 20 years, and between the Disney Parks smoking ban and the fact that DD will be living in California when she turns 21, he's thinking this might be the thing that finally convinces me to give it a try. LOL

I prefer not to breathe any carcinogens. Your smoke is definitely included in that list. The fact that ALL carcinogens are not currently being eliminated from the air is not relevant. Disney is choosing to remove SOME carcinogens from inside the park, and that's a good thing in my book. If they choose to remove more, that will be good as well. Kudos to them for changing with the times. Your logic is apparently that if we don't get rid of all carcinogens all at once, we shouldn't get rid of any ... very flawed logic, but that's your addiction talking.
Why not eliminate the Worst ones first? Because that would cost someone many millions of dollars. This one saves them money.

Don't ask me, it's Disney's policy. I'm happy for them to make any change that reduces carcinogens from the air I breathe. This one happens to be by moving the DSA out of the park. Aren't you also happy to breathe less carcinogens?

If I scratch my Pinky and almost amputate a leg, should the emergency room personnel prioritize and fix that Pinky.

Bananas please I'm only here to entertain

The smokers in this thread are really starting to look rediculous in thier defense of this nasty habit.

This is definitely a matter of perception. If I were weighing the two, I actually think the anti-smokers have been way more ridiculous overall throughout the thread. In general (not all individuals) they have come across to me as rude, hyperbolic, and unwilling to listen to anyone’s feelings or engage in rational debate. (And, I am a non-smoker who really dislikes the smell so in real life I would lean toward that side.)

All of this debate is meaningless. This is what Disney has dictated. Just like they dictate ticket prices.

Doesn’t matter whether you are a smoker who is unhappy or a nonsmoker who likes the new restrictions - it is what it is.

You would be wrong. You can’t have a rational debate with addicts. They will defend the addiction somehow someway. It always comes through somehow in undertones. Smoking can’t be defended. It’s an activity that makes no sense.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAWN SNORE SNORE

This. In January on a rather full Saturday, I walked behind a family who were cupping their cigarettes but obviously smoking, but who is going to address it in that setting.

I spoke to a guy a number of years ago who lit up while waiting for fireworks to start. He didn't get ugly. I had younger kids and so did he, so I was a bit surprised.

Last September I watched a security guard walk past a couple smoking in the middle of DS - I went after him and pointed out what was happening but only then did he come back and advise them of the rules and showed them where the smoking areas were. We saw several people smoking in DS and even one guy lighting up in the cigar shop and then walking out still smoking - the CM in the shop said nothing! So good on Disney for saying enough is enough and stopping it completely in the parks.
