No more Prince or Princesses

I’m not even remotely politically correct. I just don’t dig the idea of purposely calling someone something they don’t wish to be called.
But you are OK with Cast Members calling people "Friend" instead of "Sir" because if someone got upset they'd just be "overthinking it?" So those people need to "just relax."

You know, that is the problem with this discussion. People are blind to the hypocrisy of their own positions and to the merits of the other side's arguments. That's what happens when being "right" becomes more important than actually being right.

I'm okay with "friend" because it's an innocuous catch-all that up until an hour ago, I thought was impossible to offend anyone.

No. I have many visible tattoos. Not my point.

The point is Disney’s rule change was supposed to allow for a limited number of small ones being visible and that’s already totally out the window.
Maybe because it didn't make one bit of difference on how well one did their job and in changing the rule they expanded their hiring pool. They realized the rule was stupid

Most professional jobs have a dress and personal appearance code. Mine does. I wear long sleeves so my tattoos aren't visible. I have no issue with this, as I know they are deemed by many to be unprofessional. Feel free to disagree but for me, it absolutely does make a difference.

I disagree with you and anyone who thinks it makes a difference on how well one can perform their job. Time to get over this old fashioned notion.
Just because YOUR employer and others have always had the rule doesn't make it a good rule
Now is a great time to start the change

That's awesome. Thanks.

Aand there it is. So it's only ok for folks to laugh it off and get over it when it's not you or your kids being called something dif that what you prefer. Gotcha.
That's exactly what we did when my daughter was misgendered by cast members when she was growing back her hair after beating cancer at 6 years old. She was called a boy several times not only at Disney but in every day life. Even at 6 my daughter realized that "they just didn't know" and moved on. 4 years later we still talk about how great that trip was and until this comment I had forgotten all about that. Calling kids Prince and Princesses brings more joy than harm and honestly we all could use more joy.

The fact that your daughter realized that "they just didn't know" is a testament to how she was raised and shows a very mature attitude - good for her and you! She was called a boy and she understood that it wasn't the worst thing in the world and just a mistake. Too often these days the immediate reaction is indigantion - "How dare you?" It doesn't have to be. And agian, I am talking about mistakes, not purposefully malicious acts. It all depends on intent.

I am absolutely worn out with everything being a contentious disagreement these days. Call me princess, call me friend, heck call me sir like the CM did on FoP when I had a men's tshirt on and a ball cap. Well meaning, innocuous terms are just that IMO.

I can't get this out of my head...

Being offended is by and large a choice and both sides have become expert at it.

By the way, you do realize this was the same attitude they once carried about women wearing pants, right? Except replace unprofessional with unladylike. Same intent though
