We are going to beach club from sept 10-17. Was thinking of making a change at one point & every resort was booked! What happened to low crowds?'is that not true of September anymore?

That's during Free Dining offer period to lure folks to stay on site. That does not translate to high crowds because on site guests are such a small % of overall guests in the parks.

Crowd calendars have during that week 3/10 and the weekend before and after at 4/10.

We have been going in Sept for the last 12 years. Ever since the start of free dining it gets more and more crowded. This used to be a low crowd time as it is still hurricane season but that doesn't seem to bother anyone. I am also surprised at the number of children that are there considering school just started not that long ago. Also they moved the F&W festival up to start Sept 19 which is about a week earlier than it used to be. There are still "low" crowds compared to other times, but I don't think there are any slow times at Disney anymore.

I seriously doubt that "every resort is booked"…for example I just checked the Wilderness lodge for your days 10-17…. a beautiful comparable location to Beach club and with only ten days left for the dining plan booking they still have plenty off availability for courtyard view and other rooms as well. My guess is so do all the other resorts. You are exaggerating a little.

Not sure which crowd calendars you are quoting but "touring plan" and "easywdw" show the week before as a 1 to 5 and the week after as to 2 to 5.. no 10 in sight in September..sorry its September the slowest season of the year overall.

There may be plenty of rooms available, but not at the discount rate you have. The room I wanted wasn't available under the Florida resident rate, but it was with the Passholder rate. It was the same price, so it didn't matter to me. I'm just happy to be staying at Disney for a few days--yes, we live an hour away, but there is something about actually staying there that is still magical.

Tim, I think the poster means its 3 out of a possible 10 and 4 out of 10.

A HA there ya go..that makes sense then! Whew had me scared thought there were 10 crowds in September now!!!!! eeekkks

As someone who has been travelling in Sept since 2011, I can safely say that crowds and prices have been slowly increasing.

In 2011, we went for hotel, dining plan with photo book, 5 day ph tickets, 1 day of mnsshp AND flight for $880 each. This year we're paying $1326 for our trip (and thats with no free dining)....granted around $100 of that is flight alone, but hey....

I've also noticed an increase in crows since 2011, but nothing crazy, in 2012 we also did all the am emh so I know that has something to do with it.

As for op's post, try checking out a different hotel, or different discounts, sometimes something won't show up under my AP discount but will if I unselect that.

I have not been to DW in Sept in a long time, we always go in Nov, but we have noticed larger crowds in Nov over the past 10 years, we were there in 2001, which due to the 9/11 tragedy the place was very low crowds, and every year since it has become more of a popular time.

Just a note to add...when checking packages for next August, it appears that they moved value season back a couple of weeks, I don't think value starts until about the 18th. Used to be the first week in August was value season. Doubt FD will start until late Sept next year. It is getting more crowded...all the guides and touring plans still listed middle of August as mid-level crowds, anywhere between 3 and 6, now they can probably project 6-8 for early August and dropping to 4-7 by mid-Sept. Yes, crowd level 7's in early Sept.

I do not think there is any "slow" time at Disney, especially with the economy picking up.

It will be busier than in past years, but September still had comparable low crowds. Everyone panicked last year and there were a bunch of threads showing that most rides were walk on to short waits. The traditionally busy ones are always a little longer, but there should be plenty of FP+ for those.

As I think someone said, the rooms for that specific discount are probably gone. A standard room or a different discount should show availability.

Good luck.

We've been going to Disney every year in September for about 4-5 yrs. Yes it does seem to be more crowded each year. It sucks but it's still not as bad as the holidays or the summer crowds. If it starts to get that bad, we'll stop going.

the crowds will be much lower than they will be any other time of year.

However, the days when September was completely dead and every attraction was a total walk-on and you could just wander into restaurants when you felt like it are over.

Just because the Disney resorts are booked doesn't mean it will be less crowded. You have to factor in more than just Disney resort guests. And a lot of those were drawn in by free dining.

that resort is undergoing a major refurb and the main pool is closed from September 3 to November 28. Guests may be avoiding it for that reason.

From what I have been reading, many people who were booked at WL have been moving to the Epcot resort area because of the construction.

We only go in September bc of the crowds so hopefully nothing changes... Still cant see it being that bad compared to the summer and holidays

I've been twice in September over the last 3 years and was shocked at how crowded it was. Definitely 6/10--at least.

September is my favorite time of year to go (when I am able to travel anyway...would love to go in November and December during low crowd times but as I work retail it's not in the cards).

I definitely think that even though September has gotten more crowded over the years...it's still MUCH slower than other months of the year. My family used to travel in October because it was slow...but boy that has REALLY changed over the years and September feels SO much slower compared to October or when I went in April last year.

There really aren't slow times like there used to be...but September compared to everything else has much lower crowds.

We are going this year Sep 8-14. We have been in May, June, Spring Break, Christmas, and the last 3 trips, over the 4th of July. We are looking forward to any crowd level under 9/10.

I know the crowd calendar says it won't be bad. When I called disney about changing resorts the 3 I asked for were not available at any rate, even full price. The cm said attendance is definitely up & sept is busy. That being said, it's still not as bad as holidays. Not exaggerating just sharing what I was told.

There are more than 30,000 on-site hotel rooms at Disney World. You were given bad information. Not the first time that's happened.

Unless possibly you were looking for a very specific, rare room category (i.e. disabled-access room with connecting door, water view).
