No Laundry On Vacation!

I am in the "do laundry" camp, especially since we bought DVC! Love throwing a load in every morning on our way out and transferring it when we get back! Doesn't feel like I am really doing laundry, but I only have to pack for maybe four days of our 10 day vacations!

My wife wants to do laundry on our upcoming 2-week WDW trip. I say pack enough underwear for 14 days, air out everything else if needed, and move on. Laundry is work, and there's no room for work at WDW. Spend time having fun and making family memories, not separating lights from darks. Who's with me???:cheer2:

I say since it's your wife who wants to do the laundry, she has her reasons which have probably already been mentioned by the other posters. For you it may be work, but for her it's probably peace of mind and a way to get ahead of the workload she'll have when she gets home.

Do laundry camp

wear one, pack 4. Winter trips everyone gets a backpack as a carry on.

The trip we just came back from, I packed the 3 boys in DS14's duffel, I packed myself and DD in a backpack. DH took his own bag.

DH actually does laundry at Disney. I sit with the kids, check up on TV and email and DH grabs a book and a snack and hits the laundry room.

We were at WDW in June and I could almost wring the sweat out of my clothes by lunch. No way would airing clothes out be enough! YUCK!

We rented a townhome, so washing was no big deal. I threw a load in whenever I felt like it, maybe three loads for 10 days. Everything was nice and fresh when we got home, and I didn't have to do anything but put the clothes in our dressers/closets.

We're DVC so laundry is no big deal. Packing light RULES:earsboy:
Same here! Anytime I have a 1 or 2 bedroom I do laundry several times, throw it in washer before we hit the parks and then in the dryer when we get home. No trouble at all and then I only have to pack a few outfits and I don't have to worry about it when I get home because honestly when I get home from Disney I am BEYOND exhausted and just want to sleep and rest. This year I will only have a studio so it's going to be more troublesome as I'll have to stick around the hotel to get it done, so I'll do it once (for a 2 week trip) maybe twice (if I do it really late at night) but will not be bringing home all clean clothes, I'll have to wait until I'm home for that.

It sounds horrible, but the chores I HATE at home are the very same I don't mind so much on vacation- doing laundry, running the dishwasher, whatever :) Just being away from home makes it all better :)

except packing and lugging that amount of clothing is work. besides, who do you think is gonna do the laundry when you get back home? ;)

personally i couldn't imagine letting the laundry stew in the room for weeks. ewww:scared1:

Since laundry is done at the resorts and not the parks, I'm going to move this to our resort board.

And from one husband (who's done wash at WDW) to another: it's OK for the guys to do the wash, especially at WDW. Gets you major brownie points with the DW, if you know what I mean.

Not sure about the lovey stuff, after all, DS is on our vacations with us, but I know I really appreciated it when DH did the laundry during a longer trip to DLR! I'm like bama fan's wife, and just need more sleep than hubby, so it was lovely when he went out to do that laundry.

And could you imagine the SMELL that clothes would have as it piled up in the room for 14 days. YUCK!

Ewwwwwwww.

Here's my line to dh when he says, "don't do laundry: we're on vacation!"

"When we get home do you plan on emptying your suitcase into the hamper in our bedroom and letting our laundry elves tote it downstairs, sort it, wash it, dry it, fold it, carry it back upstairs & put it away?" To which the answer is always "yes" though he never says yes, he just remains silent. To which I then say (into the silence.)

"Guess what? We don't have any laundry elves. We have me. And I would rather come back at 3 o'clock on our last day & use multiple washing machines & dryers at the resort in a nice relaxed environment while you watch the kids at the pool & I read by myself in the sun and then fold the clothes while chatting to another smart Disney fan mom about her trip and then be taken out to a relaxing dinner at Epcot followed by Illuminations than do those same loads one load at a time in my dungeon of a basement with a toddler hanging on my leg while vacuuming & making Kraft mac & cheese followed by reading 10 books to said toddler for my nighttime entertainment."

To which he always replies, "I'll get the mesh laundry bags at Dollar Tree and a roll of quarters at the bank." :laundy::laundy::laundy:

:thumbsup2

We do about the same. I don't have enough luggage to take enough clothes for two weeks.

I don't have enough CLOTHES to not do laundry for even a WEEK! DH does, but not any longer. DS does, but he gets things messy and changes clothes even at home...

:rotfl2: it's a good point, it just struck me as funny. could you imagine someone lugging their laundry into MK then approaching a CM "excuse me, where's the laundromat?"

or going to Epcot and washing their clothes in the FW fountains.

Don't the hotels have laundry service? Why not utilize that? That way you can pack light and not do chores on vacation.

We do laundry if we're on vacation for longer than 7 days. I just throw in a couple loads and sit by the pool. Doesn't take long and gives DS a chance to play in the pool. For us, 14 days is far too long to go without laundry. And the last time we went to Disneyworld we dealt with rain and mud so it was neccessary! Plus DS and I are stain prone. We spill stuff on our shirts, sit in stuff on benches... If there's a way to get dirty, we'll find it, or it'll find us :lmao:

I don't do laundry, but my husband does. I leave that decision up to him. If he wants to do laundry, I'll kill time and lay by the pool while I wait for him to get done. Since we are DVC members laundry is free for us. I have no problem packing enough clothes and I do have to say when we go to WDW in January 2012, we plan to stay a month, so I'm pretty certain my husband will have to do a little laundry during that trip.

Ew. We do laundry on every vacation. I pack a lot less clothes and [now] I budget for the washer & dryer. We used to rent a house, so the washer and dryer were there, but we find it very convenient to do the laundry. No biggie and DH and I do it at night after the kiddies are asleep. I just found out that Gain and a couple of other brands are doing a 3-in-1 kinda detergent. Love it!

I haven't read thru the posts but I did laundry ONCE at Disney and will never do it again. It was our longest trip, 14days and I figured do laundry half way through. I ended up in the laundry room for hours one night while DH and the kids got much needed sleep. I'll never do it again. I'd rather pay for extra luggage if need be. We colour match clothing so I've even bought more matching clothes so I don't have to wash. We rewear shorts and if needed, I'll wash those by hand.

Ditto! I don't have a washer/dryer in my apartment at home so it almost feels like a luxury to be able to do laundry in the evening while DH is sleeping. It gives us the freedom to pack light and not have to bother with laundry when we get home.
