My wife wants to do laundry on our upcoming 2-week WDW trip. I say pack enough underwear for 14 days, air out everything else if needed, and move on. Laundry is work, and there's no room for work at WDW. Spend time having fun and making family memories, not separating lights from darks. Who's with me???:cheer2:

Not me! I actually prefer to do laundry for a couple of reasons.

1. We can carry less in our luggage this way (Also good for more room for souvies)

2. We can bring home clean clothes and don't have to worry about it when we return.

This upcoming trip we have the washer and dryer in our room, which makes it that much more convienent.

No Laundry!

My mom used to pack for 4 people for a 3 week road trip and managed to fit it all in a chevy caprice classic and never did laundry on a trip! Amazed....I always was!

I would agree with you, unless you have a recently potty-trained pre-schooler in your group. Under those circumstances, we have found that doing laundry is inevitable.

I'm in the DO LAUNDRY camp--for trips over five days! *LOL*

A bit less luggage (although we visit WDW in December, so we have to deal with trans-seasonal wardrobes) and clean clothes when I arrive home! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I don't agree.

I go for 14 nights also and I do laundry twice. Now with the baggage fees on the airlines we only pack one bag each.

I have a few days that we don't go to the parks and those are the laundry days. It does take some time, but the laundry areas are near the pools so you can throw a load or two on and then swim and come back to flip it.

I don't think I have seperated lights from darks in ages! I live alone so I load up the washer instead of doing two smaller loads. I haven't had anything ruined.

We're DVC so laundry is no big deal. Packing light RULES:earsboy:

7 Days is the limit for us. Anything over that- we're doing laundry.

Who is going to be in their DVC unit with washer and dryer during my vacation time period? I would sooo love to be able to do laundry there. The facility at WL is tiny and I'm dreading having to laundry there.

I'll bring chocolate. :flower3:

It helps a lot with the post-Disney blues to already have your laundry mostly done when you come home. We did laundry on a 7-day trip, and it was much nicer to have 3 loads of wash going at once while I relaxed by the resort pool for an hour than wait til I got home and have a full day of laundry ahead of me.

Nope--not me. Especially if you're going in the summer. You sweat enough and get grimy enough that there's no amount of "airing out" that will work. You can get some seriously funky clothes--and I don't mean funky in the good James Brown/Sly & The Family Stone way. ;)

So you either bring at least 14 sets of clothes (probably more like 28 sets of clothes, since it's tough to put back on those smelly clothes after the afternoon break), or plan on doing wash.

And from one husband (who's done wash at WDW) to another: it's OK for the guys to do the wash, especially at WDW. Gets you major brownie points with the DW, if you know what I mean.

I'm with you OP!! We, too, are going for 14 days and NOT doing laundry. There's 3 of us, so yep, that's about 54 total pairs of undies! (With a few extras thrown in.) We fly SWA, so luggage is not an issue. And I can never understand people wanting to have freshly laundered clothes to arrive back home with. Sure, no laundry to do when you get home, but I would still feel the need to wash them, if anything, just to get the packed up wrinkles out of them. Plus, with flying, chances are the TSA has pilfered through my suitcase (I found leaves in it the last time) therefore needing to wash it anyway.

No laundry on vacation!!!:banana::banana:

About 2-3 years ago I went on a 2 week road trip hitting several theme parks and cities and we ended up spending one night doing laundry at a Courtyard outside Boston while swimming in their indoor pool which was conveniently right next to the laundry room. Two weeks of clothes is a lot, makes sense to do laundry.

2 weeks worth of sweaty, wet clothes and shoes in a room is not gonna happen!

I was of the opnion that I didn't want to do laundry on our trip in 2008. I couldn't stand it. The clothes were just gross, airing out doesn't work well in the humidity and things take forever to dry.

For a 2 week trip, I would plan on doing laundry on days 4 and 8 and only bringing enough stuff for that many days. For me, that would be 8-10 outfits because we change clothes after our mid-day break/swim.

I am on the "DO" list. One week is pushing it, but 14 days  I usually do a load or two while my family takes a break at the resort pool. They normally change their tops twice a day. Packing so much would be hellish for us if we can't do laundry.

NO WAY was I coming home to HOURS of laundry after a two week vacation. That's a minimum of 8 loads!!! And could you imagine the SMELL that clothes would have as it piled up in the room for 14 days. YUCK! Two times during our 2 week trip, we took one hour to sit by the pool while the clothes washed and dried in multiple machines. Much quicker and easier in my opinion.

Here's my line to dh when he says, "don't do laundry: we're on vacation!"

"When we get home do you plan on emptying your suitcase into the hamper in our bedroom and letting our laundry elves tote it downstairs, sort it, wash it, dry it, fold it, carry it back upstairs & put it away?" To which the answer is always "yes" though he never says yes, he just remains silent. To which I then say (into the silence.)

"Guess what? We don't have any laundry elves. We have me. And I would rather come back at 3 o'clock on our last day & use multiple washing machines & dryers at the resort in a nice relaxed environment while you watch the kids at the pool & I read by myself in the sun and then fold the clothes while chatting to another smart Disney fan mom about her trip and then be taken out to a relaxing dinner at Epcot followed by Illuminations than do those same loads one load at a time in my dungeon of a basement with a toddler hanging on my leg while vacuuming & making Kraft mac & cheese followed by reading 10 books to said toddler for my nighttime entertainment."

To which he always replies, "I'll get the mesh laundry bags at Dollar Tree and a roll of quarters at the bank." :laundy::laundy::laundy:

Air-out everything else???? :faint:
ummm... just do the laundry. It won't take too much time and everyone you encounter will appreciate it, if ya know what I mean. ;)

Sorry I agree with you wife. A load of laundry doesn't hurt. Many of the laundry mats are at the pools so you can just throw a load in a go swim throw in the dryer when needed then take to room when done. I would rather pack less and do a few loads.

And who wants to put sweaty clothes on yuck. Airing out only will get you so far.
