No Holiday Wishes 12/30

i just got a voicemail from Disney asking us to call and reschedule our Holiday Wishes FP+ for 12/30. The CM said they are showing the NYE fireworks instead. I knew they were doing those, but thought it was in addition to the regular fireworks. :(

They offered an additional FP selection for our trouble.
 
Weird. On NYE 2012, I think they did Holiday Wishes earlier and then the NYE fireworks later. I might be remembering wrong though. I know the NYE fireworks were that night but i thought we saw Holiday Wishes too.
 
I really don't get this. I called back and the number they gave me went straight to a mailbox, so I haven't been able to talk to anyone about it.

They sold Dessert Party tickets for this fireworks showing And put them up just a few weeks ago. If this is true, there are going to be some angry people. I'm a bit concerned, because we have a reservation for the party on 12/31 for Holiday Wishes. We cancelled another ADR to make that reservation, and the chances of picking up another ADR for NYE in MK are slim.

I'm hoping the fireworks are going on as planned, and that they just decided to nix the FP area because of crowd concerns. But, the voicemail clearly said they were not showing Wishes and instead there would be the NYE fireworks.
 
During disneyparks blog holiday paracde podcast they announced that the NYE fireworks would be live online. I wonder if this ties into that. they are getting a lot better at their live events and the last couple have been more than just the event they are showing.
 

Bumping this back up to see if anyone else got the call.

I have called back twice and left a message, still no call back from Disney. Wishes fastpasses are still showing in MDE (Standby only), and the ADR reservation system still shows the dessert party as happening.
 
Maybe they aren't making enough money with all those extra visitors in the park to be able to afford two fireworks shows that night?
 
I do have FPP for that evening and have not received a phone call. Is it a possibility that FPP area overbooked?

Who knows. I finally got a call tonight and they gave me an extra "any attraction" fast pass. I had changed my fastpasses on 12/30 to DHS, so she offered it for either 12/30 at DHS or 12/31 at MK (I have FP booked there that day).
 
I just looked at MDE, and it's saying I can use the FP for the parades and fireworks viewing too. I can't believe that's the case, but okay. Maybe we'll do the Christmas parade!
 
Maybe they're still having it but using the FP space for a private party?
 
I got the same phone call regarding Holiday Wishes on 12/30, and tried calling several times, but no one returned my call. The Holiday Wishes FP+ still shows up "normal" in MDE, my itinerary, etc. I just chatted with a CM online, who told me:

"So I did a bit of research on any cancellations for the fireworks that evening, it seems like you may have received that message because it is no longer the usual Wishes™ nighttime spectacular, but it is now Holiday Wishes - Celebrate the Spirit of the Season which is our holiday fireworks."

and

"I am not seeing any information online that you would need to cancel or change your FastPass+ Selection."

and

"My suggestion would be that you just continue to keep an eye on your itinerary as we lead up to that day, but I see no reason that you should need to take any action on your FastPass+ experiences."

So, I guess I'm just going to keep my FP+ for Holiday Wishes on 12/30 unless I hear otherwise...
 
I got this same call about 10 days ago and someone left a message on our voicemail. We called back twice and left a message both times, but no one called us back until yesterday (over a week after we left the voice mail). The woman on the phone said that Holiday Wishes will not be happening on Dec. 30th. She replaced our Wishes FP with another FP and gave us an extra one. She apologized for the inconvenience.

If you have a FP booked on Dec. 30th, it sounds like you will get a call. It took a while for someone to return our call, but they finally did yesterday. Good luck!
 
I can't believe how painfully slow they were at responding to this. I mean, it worked out in the end for us, but what terrible customer service. It took them 8 days to call back. All the while, everything still says Holiday Wishes is happening online. Plus, my "anytime" fastpass is showing in MDE that I can use it for Wishes. How confusing.
 
I don't know why they wouldn't do both, maybe it's just a time change

As a replacement, we have made a new selection for you at Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid from 8:55 PM to 9:55 PM on 12/30/2015.

I must say, I'm pretty disappointed about this. And replacing it with the Little Mermaid? Umm, no thanks, not an attraction that would appeal to my 2 sons.

But whatever, sorry for whining....being back at WDW will be fabulous no matter what, especially since this will be our first time there over the holidays.

Good attitude! :) Definitely try to change your Mermaid fast pass to something else. I was able to book Thunder Mountain. Have a great trip!
