No clocks in rooms?!

Plus, even still, your non-smartphone phone has a clock anyway.

I can see taking out clocks as they stop working, but taking them out completely all at once, just seems like a waste. I like to look over at a clock instead of pulling out a phone to check the time as well. (My phone does show time, no alarm though). I won't be staying at any WDW resorts anytime soon, so I guess I'm OK.

I suspect the number of people unplugging them and moving them to get the outlet became a housekeeping issue. Even if you let it be during a stay, every room turnover then includes plugging it in and setting it. Again.

I'm hoping I can still request one when we go next month. I hadn't thought about doing so in February but not having a clock was pretty annoying. Yes, I have my phone but I don't keep it on me (rarely have pockets) so I found it a pain to have to find it and check the time repeatedly while getting ready or while taking our afternoon break. I tend to glance at the clock quite a bit and during the night as well.

Yep - and daylight savings time may impact some as well. Some clocks change on their own, not sure if those did.

Another thought I had was guest complaints/questions - I've failed at using an alarm clock I'm not familiar with, resulting in no alarm going off. I've also had the alarm go off unexpectedly at 6am because the previous guest (and housekeeping) never turned it off.

That's stupid, I rely on the alarm clock radios to wake up in the morning. I don't trust wake up calls.

Hmmm..... Gave up our land line phone about 4 months ago and don't miss that a bit. I swear we only used it to answer marketing calls. Guess I can try unplugging my night stand clock now as well!

I didn't think about it really until I was actually there in Feb. Not having a clock in my room at AKL drove me crazy. Granted I was only there for a few hours each day so I didn't bother to call the front desk and ask for one, but I was shocked to realize how often I found myself checking the time.

If you do not have a smart phone that has an alarm on it, then you can buy a travel alarm clock from many different retailers. And as mentioned, you can always request an alarm clock from the front desk.

I know but why should I have to lug around an alarm clock (those travel clocks are useless). I guess I'm just used to having a clock in my room.

I bought a small digital clock with an alarm & a light at Walmart--I think it was $6. I think some were as low as $3 but I splurged. It's going into the Owner's Locker on our next trip.

I always bring my own alarm clock whenever I travel, so this won't really be an issue for me. I know it's strange, but I don't really like the clocks they have in the room. Kind of humbug trying to figure out how to use it, not to mention, I set my time several minutes early (well, 15-20 minutes early...I know, I'm odd ). I also use the wake up call feature from the hotel phone to get the rest of my family up. I wake up at least an hour or more before everyone else.

I agree with the above poster, I always travel with my own small travel alarm clock. We set it on the night stand and it stays there the whole trip, it's small, foldable and easy to throw in a bag. I guess most people use their cell phones, I keep mine facedown on my nightstand, but I don't want to have to look at it at night unless it's an emergency. I do keep a clock in my bedroom at home, it's good to be able to glance at it and kmow the time, but on vacation if I need to take my own I can. As far as needing to unplug a light or clock in order to plug in my electronics I just take a power strip and it's got plenty of space to plug in a bunch of stuff.

This is horrible news! Of course, if the clocks are available by request, it will still satisfy my OCD need to have a wake-up call, phone alarm, AND clock alarm set...just in case

We requested a clock in February at the Grand Floridian and it was brought very quickly.
Agreed it seems silly to remove the clocks just to free up a single outlet. The rooms already have so many outlets in my opinion and they've even added power strips.
Many overseas hotels don't have clocks in the rooms but I prefer one.
Our culture is already too reliant on having a phone in one's face.

I do still wear a watch actually. It's part of my daily jewelry. My nicer ones don't light up though so I can't see them at night.

They had a clock in both areas of the Cars Suite in June. It was a pain because my 2 year olds liked to mess with it. So even I had to unplug them and hide them.
