No Buy April- come join us!

You are going to eat for an entire month on $25? WOW!!!

Haha, as I said, we just seriously stocked up. =) We only have to buy perishables this month. I also usually have lunch at school with an already paid for dining account. This is sort of an experiment, so we'll see how well it goes! =)

Still impressive. Like I said, we spend $25 easy a month in milk alone. Fruit and veggies easily another $100, no probably more then that alone. THAT would be interesting for me, to see what I spend on produce but I know I would never break down a receipt like that but I would love to know.

Good for you! I was going to ask if you have kids but I don't see any listed so go for it now, save while you can. Kids are the most wonderul, amazing little wallet drainers! :lmao:

Well, I did it. I am very happy with my day today. I successfully coupon shopped and saved almost as much as I spent thanks to BarginDiva.com, Frugalcouponliving.com, and Happyhomemakercindy.com... Wow great sites.. Check em out if you guys haven't. What are your favorites?

Hello everyone, I'm new! We definitely need to make this basically a no-buy month since we have to save $500/month to be able to go to WDW in September! That is quite a bit of savings for us so we're going to have to cut back tremendously.

My planned spending for April aside from bills includes:

$425 Groceries (this is a HUGE cut, we usually spend over $600/month!!)
$200 Gas
$150 Summer Clothing for the kids (hopefully I can manage to spend much less than this on the clothing.)
$75 Household (cleaning supplies, diapers, etc.)

That is IT. No eating out, no extra stuff at Target (I'm bad about that) and no mall trips!

We have tons of children's consignment sales here in NC. I go to consignmentmommies.com and type in my zip code. It gives me a list of all the churches & clothing exchanges within a 50 mile radius. I have never looked, but I assume it's including all towns over the U.S.(I hope it was o.k. to post this site, so sorry if it wasn't, please delete if you need to) This REALLY helps me strech my daughter's clothing budget!!! Some of the clothes are still new with tags:thumbsup2

Gas/Car- $50
Entertainment/Eating Out- $75
Misc/Emergency- $75

Total- $450/ $405.00 Left

0/15 No Buy Days

4/1- $45.00 Groceries

This is my first "No Buy" month so I'm going to start small and have a goal of 5 No Buy days. April should be a pretty easy starter month for me, not too much going on except for my nieces' birthdays. Though the last month the boys have been either growing out of or wearing out everything.

I want to cut down on my recreational shopping and eating out for lunch. I work in the center of our downtown shopping/restaurant area and after spending lots of time cooking at home, I'm always looking to go out and get something to eat instead.

I also want to cut down on in between visits to the grocery. I make a ton of lists for grocery or other trips yet it never fails that I get home and find out that someone just ate the last of something a few days later.

Of course my first day was a bust when I walked out of the house this morning and forgot my lunch. Got everyone else's ready and forgot mine!

Budget: $75 every two weeks for Groceries (In March I did a major stock pile of non perishables and filled our freezer)
$25 every two weeks for eating out

April 1st-$5.73 Lunch

ARG!!!!!! I made it all the way to 4:30 and forgot that I had to pick up some meds for the dog at the vet. Hopefully this will be a one time purchase, but I sure wanted to start my first no buy month off with a zero. GRRRRRRRR

4/1 - $17.55 for doggie meds :(

Ok, today wasn't a $0 day, and tomorrow probably won't be either! UGH my first No Buy month isn't starting out too great!

4/1- $2- baking supplies, $20- DS's youth club fee (year), $40- DH's dues for work(year)
= $62

April 1-Today didn't start as a $0 day but I knew that going in. The kids' school had their annual fundraiser at Chuck E Cheese. How can you not go to when it is CEC filled to the brim with all their friends? I used piles of coupons and fed our family of 5 dinner and got 149 tokens (half of which we put away for next time) for $19.06. Not too shabby. On the way home I stopped for New Moon DVD for $1 (using the $16 coupon!) and new socks for all 3 kids for their Easter baskets and DH needed a case of popcorn (for resale). Total was $20.36 (minus $5.40 for the popcorn.)
Total- $39.42 paid out

4/1 $65 at walmart, however I did save $6.25 in coupons. I had to stock up on T.P., paper towels, razors, and get stuff to finish the easter baskets. Not how I wanted to start the month but I made a list and stuck to it and didn't even go near the kids clothes or clearance section which is a big step for me.

All the ones within a 30 mile radius just ended!! Just my luck :P I do already have quite a bit of clothing for the summer so the $150 just needs to cover 4 outfits , 2 pairs of shoes, and swimwear for both of them.

Spent $68 at Target today :( I bought sandals for DD, shoes for DS, a shirt for DS, diapers, wipes, and bread/milk.
