VDH Questions for Purchasing

i know the 200 isnt smart for me. My wife keeps bringing up that she wants to go to big bear and other places besides Disney. I wish she would stop.

Does buying more points keep you from being about to do non-Disney trips or can you do both? We plan to travel other places as well. And if we have "too many" trips in one year then we can always rent out DVC points and skip a year at DL or WDW.

YAAAASSS!!! :-). 1,000 points is in view.
Also, I hope you can get a 1 bedroom for your first visit - they are so lovely!
I actually think the hearing accessible room may be my fav.

Why is the hearing accessible room your favorite?

@Girlstar30 What I'm "hearing" you say is that you don't feel comfortable going above 150 points right now, even though you want more. Long term, it will cost more per point to do 150 now and add on more later, but 200 makes your gut reaction kick in and put on the brakes.

I can almost feel from here that vibration you're feeling between your head and heart disagreeing. Good luck deciding!

P.S. I know you have a post saying you decided, but you've posted one of those about 20 times in this thread.

@Girlstar30 Let us know how things finally work out. What ever you decide and do will be great for you and your family. We started with 250 BWV points in 1996. Stayed that way for many years. Played the bank and borrow game to get enough points. We could only afford to go every other year or so. Then when the grandkids got old enough to start going (and remember the trip) we decided 250 was just not enough. We now go 1 trip to DLR and 1 or 2 trips to WDW a year. So we started adding on. Now just over 1K points between AKV, BWV, BLT, VGC and VDH. Followed the buy where you want to stay advice a little too much :) We do split stays and it works out great! Last trip was 5 nights each at AKV, BWV and BLT. Worked out fantastic. Grandkids loved AKV the most I think. We have a split stay in DLR coming up. After that we will decide if we would like to consolidate VDH into VGC (sell VDH and buy VGC). So no matter what you do, enjoy it and see how it works for you. You can always change things up in the future.

And @ClaraOswald makes a great point. Dues become your major expense, outstripping the initial cost.

Why is the hearing accessible your favorite, maybe I request that one! Since we're flexible ill be fine with a one bedroom whenever they can get me in but im hoping June!

I know you already decided but one more data point in favor of MB: you get to brag to your friends and show them that Disney paid you to buy points their points (I still have the check and yes it has a picture of Mickey on it).
Well the member cruise was just announced so depending on how much it costs i am back to probably doing magical beginnings to fund that lol. Very conveniently out of Cali 🤩🤩🤩 Good time for me to be direct if only my guide would answer lol

More excitement for your direct purchase. We are getting the 2027 member cruise out of California! (San Diego…7 nighter). Booking February 28.

It kind of does because Disney keeps releasing stuff i want to do! 🤣🤣 Like next year in April is the member cruise and its also my wife's 40th Birthday so now im scheming how im going to convince her to drop Europe and go on the cruise and now I want to use my magical beginnings check to help fund this so yeah id say Disney has taken over my entire life and vacations 😆 Like you i want to go other places too but I want to do this cruise more than anything 🥰

I just changed my mind again about magical beginnings lol! The good news is im not wasting anyone's time because I am going to buy 🤣🤣 but this thread has been me processing outloud and I apologize for the roller coaster 🤣🤣 If its any consolation, i even annoy myself sometimes 🤣🤣

The dues for an extra 50 points is over $500 more per year.

And then how much more upfront cost would an extra 50 points be? 10k?
Yeah 50 points doesnt sound like a lot and then your like ugh lol. I just dont want to get in over my head and then be Disney poor and not even be able to go comfortably lollll. I love to shop and eat at all the good restaurants when we go!

This probability is right up there with death and taxes. 🤣

ETA: But much nicer :)
Well my guide is still ignoring my blocked calls so you will have to go on my emotional roller coaster a bit longer because now I'm freaking out, I have a member cruise to catch! She said she owns at aulani and now im worried she flew there and took my dreams with her

You own at all my favorite resorts haha. I have a feeling i will own Aulani down the line. Boardwalk memories since 1996 must be amazing 👏 its nice to hear from a member that has owned a long time and has no regrets and is still adding on (and also a little scary 🤣🤣)

That cruise looks good! I can’t get PTO that week unfortunately, but I will definitely take a 7-day “Mexican Riviera” cruise some day!

Hearing accessible one bedroom: of course I always give some grace for those who actually needed to book accessible. The reason I like it is I know exactly what room I’m going to get because there’s only one I think? And it’s on the monorail Pool side at a decent elevation/view.

I just hope its reasonably priced for Disney standards, this little club is becoming very expensive 🤣🤣 im glad they got rid of the you have to use your direct points requirement because I would have maybe been priced out!
