In fact we could have done with a couple more. My kids are 2,4 and 6 so we took most days slow, going early, back to the hotel then back to the parks late afternoon. A couple of days we did open - close, but hours were short during the week so it was still only ten hours. We took things slow, but had a plan for most days too, trying to minimize wait times. We did just about every single thing in the parks, including the live acts (Billie Hill, Dapper Dans etc) as well as riding the Lilly Belle and i did the Walk in Wakts Footsteps tour too, which we've never made time for in the past. We visited all our fave attractions a few times, hitting up RSR every day we were in DCA. We had to make use of Parent Swap quite a bit, which forced us to slow down too, but worked very well. The only thing I think we would have done different, would be to have a no parks day after day four or five. I know it's common to do this at WDW, but we didn't think we'd need it at DL, which in hindsight would have helped energy and patience levels.

So if any of you Aussies or Kiwis are trying to decide whether a ten day ticket is too much, I'd go ahead and get it. It allows a lot more freedom :)

I agree with you! Our first family trip we stayed 10 days and the second 14 days. Broken up with day trips to LA, Universal, Knotts, las Vegas, shopping and the beach. We didn't feel like it was too much at all, especially last September when it was very hot and quite crowded, we didn't have to rush around so much to fit everything in.

If I could get my DH to change his thinking, then I'd stay at the resort for our whole 11 night trip, instead of going to Vegas for a few nights. But I feel like I have to do that to make him happy. His DD is over from Perth for a week from today, so I will try and figure out what she wants from a trip, and then get the discussion happening.

Totally agree - I'm worried about the 7 days we will be there this trip (though the other important stuff like shopping will be done the previous week)

Well 5ofus you are a better family than I.
Whilst I will do a fortnight at WDW I have only lasted 5 days at DLR. I would go and stay in other parts of LA or SolCal. I do appreciate stopping in one place and taking time rather than moving every second night

I would agree with that if you have small children :thumbsup2

Last time we went we had 6 day passes, which was a pretty amount for us, as a young couple, at a very quiet time of year when there were a lot of attractions down for maintenance and DCA was undergoing massive renovations. 6 days was good for us too as we stayed in a timeshare so had to do a week at a time. We did have one day where we went to Universal Studios, and one day that we did a tour of Newport Beach etc (but we still went to DLR that night).

Personally I could have done with another week :rotfl: I think it was best for our relationship to take off before DH got sick of it though

Now I'm trying to decide what to do for our next trip. I'm pretty sure 5 days won't be enough, and thinking that if the 10 day ticket doesn't cost a lot more than the 5 day one, may as well just get that so we've at least got the flexibility there to go if we want, even if we might lose a couple of days.

I'm at a place now where I can go to DLR for as short or as long a time as I have available. Which is a great place to be, as DH would prefer to just do 1 day there these days :rolleyes2

Luckily I plan the trips :rotfl: Annual Passes all round!! :cheer2:
