NHL info

Yes NHL players figure for the most part that they need to get PAID as it would be and see that it could and should be on a comparative level with other pro sports. Untill they start getting the TV revenues for a season or 2 that the NBA NFL and MLB get it is not going to happen any time soon and honestly I love hockey and think of all sports hockey players have the toughest game to play and the most physically demanding with very high risks. BUT and this is a big BUT here they allready make more than the average city in most countries as a colective team and that is just ridiculous. A very good friend of mine grew up with Joe Thorton amd went out with him last summer to pick up hhis new truck./ He traded in his old Navigator for a new one and paid the almost 60K difference with his debit card. They then felt like going fishing and went to Kitchener and Joe bought a new boat cash 130K for that then he was about to hook it up to said new Navigator and the salesman told he he couldn't pull it with the new truck he needed a better vehicle to bull his new 28 foot boat home with. So off they went to TO and he picked up a new Hummer H2 again paying cash for this they get back to get the boat and head for home and fishing. Think about how far all that money would have gone if he say donated it to a charity or some other thing that cvould benefit his community silly if you ask me and if they are that foolish with the money and feel thay need more then maybe they need to get some help managing the money so the millions of dollars they make a year would last them longer than a few years when they are done playing.

End Rant LOL.....

FYI....

Here's an interesting web site: DearNHL.com

And an even more interesting article: Puck Stops with Bettman

I agree with DIZNYFAN that the players are over paid for the worth of the sport in North America (especially us dumb Americans who can't be bothered with watching a puck. Like a golf ball isn't hard to see on TV?). However, the NHL has way too many teams in too many places which would rather watch football and NASCAR. Not dissing those people (as I am one of them too) but to stay in business you need customers and the southern US is just not the place to be. And, Florida? Forget about it...move the Lightning to Winnepeg and disband the Panthers. And a few more teams while we are at it!

Bring back 10 inter-division games per season (if not more) and lets see some real rivalries develop and let the old ones return!

Cut the playing team rosters down to and eliminate the little used fourth lines. Yes, everyone learns to play defense and shot the puck in the net, cuts down the owners outlay and gives the fans more quality of play.

Just my 2 cents and mad about not being able to see the Maple Leafs play next month when I'm visiting Toronto! :p

Great Pictures! Especially of #4 Bobby Orr. I guess you can tell I'm from Boston. What a great player he was. The best in my opinion.

Remember this one? Bobby Orr, number 4, scoring the fourth goal, during the fourth period (overtime), of the fourth game of the 1972 Stanley Cup playoffs. This goal won the series. He was tripped by player number 4.

Yep Orr was one of the greatest and from a small town in Ontario Parry Sound population of about 15 thousnad I think.

Scott great articleabout Bettman and I honestly agree he was not the right person to be in charge of the league but who are we to say just the poor fans that pay for it.
