Also, it really irritates how much Disney/Pixar marketed this movie as "what if the asteroid never hit the earth" as if it was some important plot of the movie. It was basically a gigantic political campaign to make sure everyone knows they don't believe in creation and that humans didn't exist at the same time as dinosaurs. I'm not making an argument for either belief, but this is just something that was completely unnecessary and was not even subtle about what it was trying to do. If the movie took place in modern day where dinosaurs still existed, maybe it would make sense. But it literally had nothing to do with the movie.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but the I think what happened was the original plot of the movie was more dependent on this...with Dinosaurs having become more industrialized (though I hear there's some implication of that in the movie) and more of a representation of humans. When they were having trouble finding the right story while this movie was delayed several years, I think the story shifted to the one that was there - which is still having the humans be present, but both in a more primitive role.

I still want to see the movie, but I don't have high hopes for it. Too bad after Inside Out was sooo good.

Ok but still I've never seen AK marketed as a Zoo and I still think it's the best theme park in WDW especially once these new things are done.

It's never been marketed at as a zoo...

But when you have large animals from other continents behind barricades the human brain automatically equates it to a zoo. And many people have aversions to zoos - which is why they are almost always public enterprises.

Disney lost and continues to lose that PR angle...
It's a zoo...own it.

Ok it may be a zoo but I see it as much more than that. It definitely isn't the typical zoo either.

It's basically a copy/response to Busch Gardens Tampa. BGT as far as I know never felt the need to either acknowledge or deny that it's a zoo so I don't know why Disney felt the need.

But it's not like I could think of a better campaign. I think the main point they tried to convey to the public was, "Hey we've got a theme park with animals and rides so go ahead and get the 7-day Magic Your Way and don't bother renting a car to visit Tampa".

Truth be told, I like both AK and BGT a lot. The only major shortcoming of BGT is that it I wish it was closer to Orlando, and the only major shortcoming of AK is that it needs at least 3 more high quality rides (on top of Avatar Land) before I can take it seriously as a complete park.
