News Round Up 2016

Someone on a different thread reported that they were offered a payment plan and they are not a Florida resident. Is this now available for everyone?

This was the rumor that interested me the most. Can you tell me which thread you heard that rumor? Living 18 hours away another month may or may not be helpful.

Hi! Just happened in here to see the last page of this thread, really never come in here, lol. But, just so happens that I think the poster mentioning this was talking about me, lol! I was in the 'AP price increase?' thread that was discussing what might be coming (which turned out to be the 13 month AP and 20% discounts). Anyway, I was saying that when I called to buy my AP a couple weeks ago, (argh, missed that extra 13th month!), she asked me if I wanted to pay with the payment plan paying over 12 months with automatic bank withdrawals, and still being able to use the card during that time. We chatted about that for a minute as I was surprised there was a payment plan, which I did say. And, I said I was surprised you could use it while paying, but she never referenced it was only if you were a FL resident. But, I had gift cards I was planning to use for them so just wanted to pay in full. I really don't remember if she knew I did not live in Florida or not. I mean she had pulled up my account by that time I think, but maybe she hadn't realized I live in Illinois, not Florida!

So it looks like DVC members are getting the 20% merchandise discount, but NOT getting the dining discount that is being offered with the AP (though we already get quite a few 10% dining discounts).

Hopefully he works on cleaning Space Mountain - in the "lights on" video recently posted you can clearly hear Pete say "It's filthy!"

Darn, I was hoping this was a video of someone actually riding space mountain with the lights on. I have been on CoP and seen space mountain with the lights on like this myself, I secretly hope to see this every time I go on CoP. However ,I have no idea what the rider is talking about about when he says "it's filthy" I really didn't see anything filthy there. And though this is a dark ride, WDW is pretty much against anything being dirty.

What freaks me out whenever I see the lights on is how tight the tracks are. I haven't ridden space mountain in a while (don't know if the ride has gotten rougher or my body has gotten more susceptible to not enjoying this kind of ride, I think it is the former as I still enjoy BTM , EE and RnR) but after seeing the lights on I pretty much never put my hands up and unconsciously find myself ducking throughout the ride.

Well I'm glad you decided to find your way over here. While I still have questions about the payment plan for anyone except FL residents, I guess the answer is to just call in and see what can be done. I'm not sure if the CM you talked to was mistaken or things are changing. The wife did some research (google) when I told her about this and she reported to me that she read the FL payment plan was a test to see if there was a market for people wanting to make a payment plan instead of the bulk payment.
I would think most people would want to do a payment plan, what really intrigues me about your post is the statement from the CM that you could make payments but still go to the park even before the payment plan was complete???!!!???
Seems like people could take advantage of that and (1) sign up for the payment plan and then (2) go to the park and then (3) stop making payments.
Like I said thanks for the info but I guess I will have to see for myself if it is possible by calling in. I had assumed Oct. 1st would be a price increase and almost rushed into buying some, but I think we will wait it out as we still have 150 days to go....ugh 150

I just saw Minniekins' answer and yes, she was the poster I was referring to. I will be callinglater to see if it is available and I'll post the result.

I assume you mean People Mover not CoP right?

I haven't been able to witness it in person but have watched on YouTube videos of people riding Space Mountain with the lights on and it looked much scarier as everything is so compact and it did feel like you had to duck to not get hit at points (obviously you don't really have to but it looked like that)
