News Round Up 2016

It was great, but if your plan is to escape winter-forget it.

If I want to learn culture from a society that's thousands of years older than ours and we can learn a lot from...
...it ain't in Orlando.

And they have better taste in food than chef mickeys.

Will go back to Tahoe one day though.

Just wanted to say Tahoe is my favorite place in the world. Unfortunately it is less affordable than Disney World.

I'll go to Disney as much as I can, but if you're only traveling to Florida for vacation.....

True, that's why we went. But a trip or 2 every year to France/Paris? Nah. Summers are too good up here (we wait all winter for it) to leave when its good there.

In Lyon there was an old structure that had "30" on it. I asked what that meant, yep as in the year 30. I looked further for a "JC Was Here" in case it was a few years older by chance.

Here's a new wrinkle in Disney's ever increasing prices - premium parking charges coming to the theme park parking lots. Want to park near the entrance? Pay an extra $20 to $25.

While recognizing that everyone is different, the only time I might even consider paying an up-charge for the parking is if I'm there in August (which so far has been never) and Disney has covered parking! Though we are usually rope-drop people, I (and my family) love riding the tram!

ETA: Though, I will say it's another example of nickel and dime you...

1550ish, but I'm splitting hairs :).
I think international travel is important, and we as Americans tend not to engage in nearly enough of it.
If it can be afforded, you should go explore the big blue world and see things you've never seen before.

Don't forget that just puts you on the plane, you have to pay like $15 for a seat (which is not included in that price), etc. (back to the hidden fees and why people hate them).

They aren't that bad. You don't have to pay for a seat - you pay to reserve one. If you are willing to be in the back or middle depending on when you check in $19 will absolutely get you and a backpack from STL to ORL.

We actually did their all in upgrade for $60 which gave us 2 bags, premium seats, and early boarding along with refund. They were still cheaper with the add on and everything went smooth. So I owe them to say ours went well.

I have considered just taking my luck with seats. We were going to have to pay to reserve seats from the US to Frankfurt. DH and I thought it might be a nice break from our son, if we didn't get seated together:rotfl2: However, I am sure the flight attendants would have found a way to seat at least one of us with him:rolleyes:

Every trip I go to many countries around the world, take a safari in Africa, ride a boat down the worlds largest rivers (they go on for niles and niles), escape to far away planets, and even spend some time in historical places like the old Wild West or the Caribbean with pirates. We usually end our trips with some time in a fanciful medieval era.

We are very well rounded Americans thank you very much! :D

I swear it was Frontier that did this to my wife (maybe another budget line though). Basically the charged you a minimum of $15 for a seat no matter where in the plane, then more depending on where the seat was. But I definitely remember going through this and being mad that they would actually charge for the seat after the ticket. But I'm far from an expert on all of this (I don't fly).
