I finally did it...I went to the Gap and bought some non-mom jeans. You all would be so proud of me. For those who don't remember the thread, here is the link. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1017381&page=1&pp=15

I went into the Gap and when the young, hip, African American clerk asked me if I needed help I told him that I needed some non-Mom jeans. He looked at me, the frumpy mom and probably wanted to laugh, but he kept his composure nicely. :teeth:

I tried on several pairs before I found a pair that I was happy enough with. Happy enough meaning that I need to lose a good 10 pounds, but I wasn't leaving without a pair of jeans and I didn't have time to stay there while I lost the 10 pounds. I had to update everyone because I knew that you all were losing sleep wondering if I'd gotten some new jeans. yet ;) :rotfl2:

Yay for me!!! :cool1:

Congratulations! Does that mean while you are wearing the non-mom jeans the kids disappear?

My college DD asked if I'm trying to deny that I'm a mom... :rotfl: There's no denying that I'm a mom with my hips! :rotfl2:

I need all the luck in the world on losing weight, BUT one side effect of the new migraine meds on on is weight lose. Normally I have the opposite side effects of most people, but I sure am hoping that I have this one. :cool1:

Now I need to buy some non-mom undies...my briefs won't look good with these jeans. :crazy2:

Are you taking Topamax?

Congrats on the non mom jeans. I have some too. :) LOL.
Good luck on the weight loss too. Topamax didn't do it for me :(

icebrat001, yep, it's Topamax.

crz4mm2, were you were on it for migraines? I was on it one other time for migraines, but it seemed to give me cold sores (had 4 cold sores in 3 weeks) so I came off of it). It could have been a fluke, so I'm trying it again. I hope it helps without the cold sores.

I am on it for migraine suppression. It works very well for me. I have been on it for several months. I started off on 25 mg. Now am on 25mg BID (twice a day). I haven't had a problem with cold sores from it that I have noticed. I do get them pretty often with or without Topamax. I would take the cold sores over migraines any day though. (I meant it didn't work for weight loss for me :))

Good luck. Migraines are horrid.

I wore them yesterday!!!

Exciting, huh?

The funny thing is that I didn't say anything to my kids and the 10yo girl that I take care of before/after school told me that my jeans made me look younger, but that my fleece made me look older. Of course I quickly took the fleece off and asker her about my Mickey tye-die t-shirt and she told me that it made me look younger, so I tossed the fleece on the floor. I froze after that, but who cares? :rotfl2: Oh, and my 15yo son told me that he liked my jeans. :cool1:

My DH still thinks that I'm a kook! :teeth:

GOOD FOR YOU! :thumbsup2

I *hate* Mom-Jeans.... I dont care how old you are, what size you are, or anything - there's NO reason to have jeans with waists right below your rib-cage! NONE!

There's no going back now.... next thing you know, you'll be crimping your hair, and getting your belly button pierced! :lmao:

Im proud of you - for real! :woohoo:

Good for you for letting go of the mom jeans!!!! Now the next step is to DITCH THE FLEECE. Listen to your children.

FLEECE is the most unflattering material out there. Its not hiding anything; its assentuating it. I HATE FLEECE!!!!

Congrats to you.

T&B--

The underwear are a problem with the new non-mom jeans, aren't they?

For years, I've been wearing Jockey French Cuts (they are high cut in the thigh but come up around the hip bone). I think they are actually quite sexy but they look HORRIBLE sticking out of the lower-rise jeans.

So I've had to buy these hip hugger underwear and I just HATE them.

I agree - FLEECE is for bed. I have a wonderful, fuzzy FLEECE Winnie the Pooh Robe I got in Disneyworld YEARRRRRS ago - zips right up the front and has pockets too. It's for house use only!!! Well, sometimes Ill run to my car in it - but Im zippity quick!!! :hyper:

NO FLEECE - unless you wanna look like a stuffed animal.

I agree. I've never, ever embraced the force-feeding of fleece by Old Navy. My God, will those people STOP with the fleece already? :crazy2:

LOL on the belly button. I'd have some explaining to do with my DD since I've told her that she'd better not get her's pierced while I was supporting her. :rotfl2: Wouldn't she have a field day with me! That could be pretty funny.

Cindy's Mom, how will I stay warm? OK, I just took a shower and I put my jeans and a Mardi Gras t-shirt on. So far, so good. But what do I put on when I get cold (in my house, I'm talking about)? I'll go broke on my heating bill if I keep it too warm and I'm the type that gets cold easily. Do I need to go get some cute little (not so little LOL) hoodies that my DD wears?

I think I need clothes shopping/wearing 101 for the 40 something woman....do they have that course? :scratchin

The thing that I hate about fleece is that we have pets and lots of them and fleece is a pet hair magnet. The hairs weave their way into the material and it's very hard to get it out. A clothes brush does little to help.

Also, the tendency is to buy the fleece oversized and it makes a person look every larger. Just what I don't need!

Now you didn't say you wanted to be warm also :rotfl2: boy oh boy you wat it all don't you. Let me tell you my favorite quote - it is Billy Crystal while immating Fernando Lamas; "Its better to look good, than to feel good".

Now I have two suggestions 1) you may wear fleece, but ONLY IN THE HOUSE or 2) Layers, get some long sleeve T-shirts and put them under your short sleeve T-shirts - its looks as cute as heck, no matter what the size. Remember the first step is admitting you have a problem and I can see you are on the road to recovery.:thumbsup2

Next step with the low rise non-mom jeans is sporting the thong, thong, thong, thong!
