News Flash! I bought some non-mom jeans!!!

I was at "Heritage Night" at my son's school tonight and I noticed myself looking at the jeans of the other moms.

And? You see a lot of 'egg butts' ???

Ok, You can see that I'm forced to show this. I'm not happy about it but here you go. I'm not talking stilletos with jeans. These are the shoes I like to wear with jeans. I also have a lower heel brown pair. Because of my reconstructed left hip I can't wear heels much higher than this, but these are SO COMFY!!!

OK, I gotta go work the middle school book fair. Later.

bananiem, those do look nice and comfy. :teeth: Where did you get them?

BTW I wanted to clairfy that the "who are you trying to kid" look form the teenager I was talking about would be directed to me and not you. :teeth: No intention to insult anyone. Just wanted to be clear on it! ;)

LOL I like those shoes. I have some similar ones that have a back to them in black and ones in brown. I haven't worn the brown ones with my new jeans, but I did try them on and they look good. (I have to do things slowly, in stages ;) ).

I can't do heels at all. I would fall and embarrass myself for sure.

CathrynRose, I'm scared to ask and I could probably figure it out, but what's an egg butt?

DisneyPhD, I have a quick non-jean question. Well, 2 questions. What did you get your undergrad degree in and did you get your masters before getting a job or did you get a job and then work your way through the masters? My DD's major is social work and she's starting to think about some of these details.

Egg Butt.... like the jeans come up so far up their back, and if they have a cute little round butt - it fills the jeans out, goes up their back, into their waist thus shapping it much like an incredible, edible egg-butt. *shrug*

Try getting some Ugg-like boots (every company makes one now) http://www.shoes.com/product.asp?p=5019190~Womens~UGG&sc=WOMENS&variant_id=78659 Theyre OBNOXIOUSLY comfy - are very *in* right now....and look good w/ non-mom jeans.

My feet are so big that they'd probably look like oceanliners on my feet. :rotfl: Other than that problem they are cute. I want to get a pair of clogs, but I'm afraid my DH is going to take my credit cards away if I do any more shopping! :teeth:

How did I manage to miss this News Flash!

Congrats! :thumbsup2

I have no idea how you missed it!!! I'm shocked! I bet you wouldn't have missed an Olympics spoiler! :rotfl:

OK, all you experts...maybe I should post another thread, but you all are experts and should know this. Do they make non-dad jeans? When my DH needs jeans he tells me to go buy whatever is on sale. I tell him to come try them on, pick out what he likes, in the color he likes, style he likes, but he tells he doesn't care, that I am to buy whatever is the cheapest. So I follow orders and do that. They are not baggy in the teenage boy kind of baggy way--afterall, my DH wears a belt and would never let the waistband go too low, trust me on that one (I know because he tucks all his shirts in so I am quite aware of exactly where the waistband is). But the back end, between his tush and legs has extra material, which does not look the most attractive. I told him that he wears "dad jeans". So what do 40 something dads wear who want to be comfortable, but maybe a bit more stylish?

TO the poster that wanted to know where i got my shoes...I don't remember but probably Famous Footwear or Herbergers. The brand is Liz Claiborne Flex and I never pay more than $40 for shoes. Well, except tennis shoes.
I have no idea about the dad jean thing.

Psst...I actually missed yesterday's spoiler hub-bub. :rotfl2:

As for non-dad jeans, shop in the young mans section, or go to Gap or Old Navy.

Heals with Jeans? I think not. I may be only 5 fee talll, but I don't need heals...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sounds like me. I'm short but I just can't picture myself wearing heels with jeans. I always wear sneakers or flip flops. In the winter I wear LLBean boots, the short ones, or Dexter shoe/boots.

Actually, I call them tennis shoes, not sneakers. According to my daughter, I don't even get THOSE right. They're either too white or too chunky or not chunky enough.

I need to get DH some 'non-dad' jeans. He looks like he is suffering from noassatall disease in the ones he currently has.

This is funny because I was just ragging on my husband yesterday about his jeans. He has about 30 pair, (I'm not kidding), and they all look and fit EXACTLY the same. His sag in the rear because he doesn't really have a rear-end and he wears them low in the front because he has, how shall I put it, too much in the tummy area. I really think he could find better fitting jeans, but I honestly don't think he cares. The dress pants that he wears for work don't seem to sag like his jeans do. He told me he likes to have extra room in his jeans. :confused3

Same as my DH!!! :rotfl:

I like lands end all weather mocs in the winter. Love slip on and off. They have summer ones too (and I have a few pairs, but I tend to buy insoles to give them a little extra padding.)

Ok, off topic. As far as degrees go, I have a BSW and I stopped a few classes short of getting a BA in sign language studies too. Mostly because I had started grad school at the time and never went back. I might soon.

It can be very hard to find work with a BSW, or at least work I like to do. I worked for a few years as a preschool teacher, then went back for my masters.

At a major univeristy around here they have something called advance standing. That means if you have a BSW you can get your masters in 10 months, skipping your 1st year (as it was coved in your BSW.) It was a great program but VERY hard to get in. To this day I think I got in because I know ASL. It was my nitch.

Best of luck to your DD. Go for the masters, it is so worth it. (mostly because the BSW is useless with out it unfortanilty. :goodvibes

Now back on topic, what are we going to do with all these men with saggy rear ends? :lmao: :rotfl:

They have the same thing at several MD Universities. Her advisor told her that a student usually decides where they would want to work after they have their MSW and get the masters in that area. According to him, our county pays a LOT more, BUT (there's always a but, isn't there?) the cost of living is high here.

Speaking of butts, you have no idea how I want to kick myself in the butt for not finishing my BA way back when before having my babies (my major was also social work when I switched from elem ed). Bad, bad decision!

And as far as the saggy guy butts--it's a real problem. We need a new campaign for that, I think!

Frankly, I'm amazed at all of these "rules". I can see the bit about the Mom Jeans but as for the rest...?

Define the rules just for fun. What about sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets? Are tennis shoes bad?
