News about Treehouse Villas !! ??

Not sure how long it will take to demolish the 60 present structures and rebuild.. I'd guess about a year and a bit since all the plumbing and electrical entrances etc will carry over from the old structures.

If these aren't TOO expensive, I'd be so excited about this! Our family size has recently grown from 5 to 7 with the adoption of 2 children from Russia, and the diagram that was posted looks perfect if that sofa is indeed a sleeper. I would think they would be cheaper than a 2 bedroom DVC rental due to the location...but who knows (?). Thanks so much for the info!

I wish I could remember what we paid the last time we stayed at the THVs. I will go out on a limb...no pun intended....and say the will be along what a deluxe grand villa would cost. If you could rent one. I know when we stayed at the Poly, we had to rent 2 rooms. The villas were only slighty more expensive. We always rented lagoon view rooms. I don't know if that helps anyone figure out what they would cost....but ..that's all I can remember.

It looks as if all the rooms will be on 1 level...I wonder how cramped they will be?

Where are these TreeHouse Villas located in proximity of SSR? Are they across Sassaguola River from the Grandstand section?

From the water that separates SSR from PI, they are to the north and west. They are almost completely obscured by trees from any aerial photography. (Google Earth etc)

I had a link to the permit.. but it contains some banking information about the engineering firm that filed the permit and a closer review indicates that to access the permits, the South Florida Water District requires you to sign up to their site..

You can post a link and skip the signing up part, but given the banking information, I felt the better course was to remote the link.

And then just search under permits for Disney.

We were in Florida last week. We stayed at Port Orleans riverside and we took the boat to downtown. The captain told us the tree top village could not be torn down because they were on wetland so disney kept the treetops for foreign workers and students to use. I was very curious what the buildings were and he told us. I thought they were very interesting and took several pictures.

CanadianGuy, thank you for posting this. I think it's cool that Disney is going to keep a part of original WDW history alive. While the Polynesian holds my interest and probably will to the day I shuffle off this earth, I'm glad to see families will begin to enjoy those Tree House villas again. I saw them on my first trip to WDW in 1989 and thought they were really neat looking and wanted to stay there. That's until I rode the resort monorail later that day and saw the Poly for the first time. Then the rest was history

I'm so tired of Disney allowing certain things they have to just sit and decay, this was one of those things. Now if we can just convince Disney to do something great with River Country and finish the Legendary Years, maybe into family suites, and add some E ticket rides to every park, then I'll be a happy guy.

The South Florida Water Management District approved Disney's permit to rebuild the Treehouse Villas on Monday of this week. So your captain was telling you what was the truth at the time.

Anybody want to venture a guess on how much one night mihgt be if you compared them to current villas? I don't have a clue how much the villas go for, but I love the cabins.

My guess is that they would be a bit more than the current cabins at Fort Wilderness..

Since they are 3 bedrooms....I would guess they will be the same price as a grand villa.....or at least $800 a night. I just guessing of course, but that's my guess.

I dont think they'll be quite THAT much, as I don't think they include laundry facilities for example and ... my guess .. is that they won't be furnished as opulently as the grand villas.

Grand Villas sleep up to 12. The max occupancy of the treehouse is eight. Two per bedroom and one pull out sofa.

Not to mention, the Grand Villas include a lot more space than the Treehouse units allow for.

The Treehouses compare quite well with the Fort Wildnerness cabins and I suspect they'll be slightly more than the cabins are currently. Probably closer to the 400$ a night range.

Just my guess.
