Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

For boy I think he will be Owen and for a girl Avery (although I am not sure about using a unisex name but I think it is very pretty and unique)
Now the fight on what middle names begin!

I love Avery, I think it is real cute for a girl and very unique. Which I love.
Owen is sweet too. Good job so far future Momma!!

Just a quick PSA... If for some reason you are pretty much exclusively pumping like I am.. Make SURE you dont pass out before you do that last pump at bed time.. :scared1: :scared1: YOWZERS! I woke up at 3am this morning CONVINCED that my nipples were going to blow through the wall into the other room. :lmao: :lmao:

On a more positive note.. Just one short week after giving birth to TWO babies.. I am back in my normal clothes!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I am a little more jiggly then before, but I am okay with that.. I did have almost 14 pounds of baby in there. :woohoo:

The babies are so wonderful!! :lovestruc They eat tons, and are actually awake for about an hour or so at a time.. Just long enough for everyone in the family to give them tons of kisses and hugs. My husband is a little scared of them. He gets really tense when he holds them... and that makes them cry. Everytime. He is a big guy.. and they are SOOO tiny. He is afraid their little heads are going to snap off and roll away. :lmao: :lmao:

Twins are the BEST!!

I love the updates!!

My DH doesn't like when the babies are first new born either. So I laughed at your story.

Target is ok only if you have a gift receipt. If you don't have a receipt, they only let you return 2 items PER YEAR with your driver's license. Luckily, I only got a few things that werent on my registry so I really didn't return much, but I do have to say that this was annoying especially because I wasn't looking to get cash back, I just wanted to exchange it for something else! Who needs 3 rubber duckies anyways? (That is one of the things I tried to return)

I hated this policy when DS was born. I got so mad when I had to return shower gifts. I said never again.

Hello girls. I am back from Disney. We got in last night. Just wanted to let you know, all is well in the World. The weather was great!!! Castmembers were wonderful. I was surprised that I didn't get tired. That shocked me because I was 24 weeks along and it didn't slow me down.

The BEST thing happend while we were there. My husband got to feel the Natatlie move for the first time. It was really kind of magical. We got her some really cute outfits and a baby Minnie Mouse while we were there.

Looks like things were busy while I was gone...
Welcome home!! I'll be leaving for WDW on Thursday, can't wait! :goodvibes I'll only be about 16 weeks, but with two in there, I fee & look bigger than that. If I'm not up for all the walking, I'll rent a scooter on an as needed basis. I'll be on the lookout for baby stuff too, but since I don't know sexes yet, don't know how much I'll actually be able to get yet.:upsidedow

I'm all about saving money...if it weren't for 3 massive showers--we'd totally be using Craigslist.
Heheh, DH & I were just joking that since I got rid of so much of DS's stuff, these 2 are the Craigslist kids. :thumbsup2 So much less precious about stuff the second time around. We still have his crib & dresser (need to get him a new dresser) but after vacation I'l be watching Craigslist for a second crib that's a decent color match to our existing light maple stuff.

Oh and on my front, still nothing is happening. A few random contractions here and there, but nothing STRONG! Argh- this little girl seems like she is never going to come out.

I'm tellin' ya, my money's still riding on Sunday night. She'll be out soon, I just know it. :goodvibes

Good to hear your update! How is the pumping going? Do you have a hospital grade pump? If you think you may be pumping for the long haul, you want to get yourself a hospital grade pump, probably a rental, as they are several hundred bucks to purchase. I exclusively pumped for my son for 2 weeks shy of 2 years, so if you need any help or tips, just give a shoutout!

When the babies are older and your supply is well established, you should be able to drop the overnight pumps. I remember how I did it too. I pumped before bed & then again whenever my b00bs woke me. :rotfl: Eventually you should be able to make it to the morning. First AM pump was always *a lot* of milk.

Wow!:worship: I nursed my kids for a year each and thought I was doing well. Good for you! I may have a ton of pumping ?'s in July. I was too "lazy" to deal with a pumping schedule with my other kids and just kept them with me. Since my youngest was about two, I've been carving out a nice little niche for myself as a museum professional/grant writer. I can still write grants from home (my plan for after the baby), but you still have to take meetings with clients in person here and there and I would love to eventually go back to my museum a day or two a week to help them out-which means I really need to get over my nervousness and use a pump.

Boys names were a huge challenge for us each time we were pregnant. With DS we finally agreed on Luke James after many discussions, which I love. So I have to say I like Lucas as well!

DH like Dylan, which I did not like at all with our last name.
Ann

We struggled with girl names. I will probably call Lucas Luke most of the time BUT Luke sounds abrupt with our last name. Lucas flows better and I love Lucas, too so it works out alright.

We eventually decided on Cassidy for a girl about 2 days before the ultrasound announcing Lucas' upcoming arrival. :rotfl:

Sarah, all the girls around you lately could be a sign of a boy to come.
I know when we were about to find out, I was studying the list to check out my odds!:lmao:

I should have looked at it before I went, when I got back from the ultrasound and looked at the numbers my boy made it 50/50!! :rotfl:

And listen to her Sarah... thats how it went for me! :rotfl:

piecey, were all your disney toys from the cereal boxes in a separate bag?

Yeah, they've all been seperate.
DH has banned me from buying anymore cereal until the two boxes I thought I had hidden in my closet in the bedroom have room in the kitchen. :rotfl:

I think I might try Wal Mart and BRU? I have been trying to make a list of things you need for baby. If anyone has a list that would be great.

I did WalMart and so far it's worked well. My Aunt in South Carolina already called to tell me "Thank You" for doing my registry at WalMart. They have free shipping to their store for me to go and get her gift, so she bought me a little more than she was going to if she'd had to pay shipping, too.

I actually ended up getting the box FedEx on my front porch with the "Site to Store" stickers all over it. :confused3

I used this list:
http://www.walmart.com/giftregistry/gr_baby_checklist.do
I weeded through what I already had, thought was ridiculous or didn't think it was appropriate to register for.

(We don't have a Target or a BRU, though, so around these parts you're pretty much stuck with Wally World or online for a LOT of stuff... )

Count me in as another on who hates WalMart. I really don't like shopping there at all.

I don't think I am going to register anywhere. I don't want a shower. I have a thing about throwing a party for myself and making people by me something. With the economy the way it is, I wouldn't want someone to have to make a choice, by me something for the baby or pay a bill. My mom thinks I should register anyway that way if someone wants to get me something, they will at least have an idea where to look and what I want. Most of my family lives out of state so they would do their shopping on-line anyway. I don't know. What do you guys think.

I didn't like the idea of a registry either but my mother pretty much insisted. I don't have a lot of expensive stuff on there. I even put a bottle brush for $2.97 but mom said some people would be thrilled to be getting me something I *need* vs. just a shot in the dark.
The most expensive thing on my registry is the Pack'N'Play and only because DH's coworkers are chipping in to buy it and wanted to know what I wanted. Easiest way was to stick it on the registry. Then I've got a playmat (like $40 or $50 I think?) and then the rest is all under $15.

I've bought all the big stuff already, though.

Good grief.

Looking at that post, I use the :rotfl: smiley far too much. It's making me dizzy!

Will your mom throw you a shower? I dont' think I'd throw myself one either, but if you dont' have one and a friend or family member find out in time, I'm sure one of them will step up...
You can still register, for the fun of it...because after the baby is born, they give you a discount on the things on your registry not purchased :)

I hope you are right!!! We will be going to do more walking this afternoon when the weather warms up! I am just worried that the longer she stays in there, the bigger the baby I have to push out!

No problem, I feel like an old pumping pro. By contrast though, I'm a total BF newbie. My son never did learn to BF, looking back it's really not surprising. He had oral motor coordination issues that made any kind of feeding difficult for more than 2 years. I've already spoken w/ a LLL Leader that is in my local MOMS Club & will probably go to at least a couple of meetings before the babies come to meet some women & hopefully line up some help if I have difficulty with latch or anything in the beginning.

I'm hoping that these two aren't so early that they have difficulty nursing & just take to it like babies are supposed to! The biggest hurdle to pumping is getting the right pump, for exclusive pumpers I always reccomend a hospital grade rental pump. For pumpers that will continue to nurse p/t, the Medela Pump in Style (PIS) line or the Ameda Purely Yours are the best out there. Some women manage with a hand pump, but I can't imagine doing that if you'll be pumping on any kind or regular basis. For a mom that primarily nurses, but may need the random occassional bottle for when she'll be out on a given date, a hand pump will suffice.

I have already turned down 3 offers for a shower, so finding someone to give it isn't the problem. That is a great idea about registering so I can get the discount for the things not purchased. Isn't it Baby's R Us that does that?

I get to go over to the other house and finish our nursery for carpet to go in Tuesday... then I get to ASSEMBLE FURNITURE!! :cheer2:

I might beg the carpet people to do the nursery first so I can assemble the crib while they do the other rooms. :rotfl:

Yeah, Babies R Us does :)

I turned down showers this go-around, cuz, well..it's my 4th kid, and I just had one last year...lol
But, people at my work have been giving me gifts and gift cards...so sweet, but it does make me feel bad!!! (Guess the good part about it is....I didn't work here with my last baby, so it's like a first for them...lol)

Baby Elizabeth Nicole was born quite unexpectedly on Thursday, March 12th at 4:38am (water broke, or rather trickled at 2:25am -- so we are talking quick!)

There was no time for c-section, epidural or drugs...I got to the hospital and was already 9cm dilated and near Rim. Took 3 nurses to triple-check b/c they didn't believe it could go that quickly ... but Surprise!

Baby and I are fine. I'll post more with photo later but she is napping and I should be too.

Elizabeth Nicole
3/12/09 @ 4:38am
8 lb, 4 oz (same wgt as DD3 which is funny)
20 and 3/4 inches
Brownish hair, blue eyes

I loved the Avent Isis hand pump with my other kids, but if I'm going to stick to any kind of professional working schedule (even a part-time one) with this baby, I think something more heavy-duty is in order. I'm thinking pretty hard about the Medela Pump In Style line.

As far as nursing goes, each of my kids presented one kind of latch challenge or another so I do feel pretty well-versed in dealing with those kind of questions. (I even debated becoming a lactation consultant, but sadly I'm better at writing grants and organizing museum artifacts). So maybe we can exchange information when our babies come.
