Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Staley, it's bizarre to me to make that decision at this age, too.

However.. we know I CANNOT handle birth control. They can undo Vasectomy's now, can't they?
If DH did it now we'd be 32/37 when it could be undone. I think it's 10 years?

21 is a hard age to decide if you're going to have more kids or not.. I think I want 2! $$ is just such a scare. :(

Have you thought about an IUD? Because thats what Im going to do. It is WAY expensive to have those surgeries undone.. and not always 100% that it will work. If your insurance doesnt cover an IUD, Planned Parenthood has a sliding scale.

I cant handle BC either. I go NUTS. It just messes up my whole system. But from what I here, Mirena is a good way to go. it lasts 5 years, and then if you want to take it out early and try for a baby, you can. Almost all the women on my twin boards seem to be getting Mirena... so I am totally jumping on that boat!:rotfl2:

oh ann! not you ... the OB office and having to see the high risk dr. b/c i am 35!! i dont mind it from other MOMS!!!

SO sorry, should have phrased that better.

frankly, after a baby, any baby, i feel old!!

lisa- are you up for starting a new mommy thread so we all can continue our chats after the babies come? i will miss chatting w/ y'all.

Piecey, I'd opt for an IUD at your age, too. Reversals aren't 100%. I did alot of research on the Mirena, and was all for it if I hadn't gotten pregnant before the end of the year. I thought I was through in my 20s, but obviously I changed my mind. With the IUD, you can always have it removed.

I'm afraid the IUD might screw me up like traditional birth control, too.

Does it use different chemicals to control pregnancy? I'm not exactly sure how all that works.

I thought any sort of permanent birth control at our age was crazy but I CANNOT handle it..
We're about 98% sure we want more kids (I think three is DH's max) but it's hard to say.

It will NOT effect you like the pill. The hormone levels are really low. They also have a hormone free IUD, Paraguard. it is just a copper IUD. It lasts up to 10 years.

I have also been on the ring, and it didnt effect me at all.. Where the pill... any pill... just sends me all haywire!

Here is the site for Mirena..

Here is the Paragard.

Check them out.

Hmmm... OB/GYNs are good to talk to about this stuff, right?

My regular doctor is "Out of Network" on my new insurance and so I need to find a new one... curse her for not offering this up instead of just constantly writing prescriptions for PILLS after PILLS...

Are these considered "prescription"? I can check online to see what prescriptions are covered... Sounds like a good bet.

I'll have to research them further, thanks!

I'm trying to decide what I want to do after the baby's here for birth control. I'll probably do the pill again for a while, but it would be nice to have something I don't have to think about every day. The pill never gave me issues, though. Triphasil and Seasonique worked great for me. But IUDs are definitely a possibility I want to explore.

Yes. An OBGYN is exactly who you would want to talk to about it. I guess even a Family Practice Dr. If that was how you were going to see for paps and whatnot. There are a few different things out there besides just the pill.. Check out what would be the easiest!

I think it would be a prescription. I have no idea!

On top of going bonkers when I went on the pill.. I could never remember to take it! Just ask the almost 7yo boy sitting on my couch watching Spiderman right now. :rotfl2:

Lauren, I am right there with you. I worry about having the two if I am going to be able to keep up. DH will be 48 and I will be 40 when this one comes.
Somedays are harder than others. Can I ask how old you are? I have assumed we around the same age. If that is to forward you can pm nosey me!!! :rotfl2:

You are doing good with keeping that sugar in line. Keep it up

Ann

Ann, I am 38...your question was not too forward at all...you probably know more about me than my own sisters from chatting on the What's for Dinner Thread.

My sugar has been a bit funky today. It actually went as low as 66 which was too low and then I was at 117 which is a couple too high...I think its because I was busy today helping Tom tile the shower and did not eat my regular 6 meals.

*************
I would be interested in hearing what the tubal will be like after a ******l delivery. Off to go Google!!!

Okay. Good deal.
My doctor was an "internist" which somehow made her qualified to do everything? :confused3
When she first got out of med school, I was referred to her with a BAD case of mono-- my blood was all screwed up. She was in an office with a bunch of OB/GYN's and they could draw blood, test it and get back to me all there (which I think is why I got sent to her)

When her DH graduated med school, she left them and opened their own practice. She still does all my "well-woman" stuff and her husband is 'family medicine' if I just feel icky or something I can usually squeeze in to see him, but she's my "Dr."...

I don't really know the difference between all the Dr.'s out there.. :upsidedow

Hi Ladies!
So, it looks like baby Tessa is all cozy and content and not planning her departure anytime soom!
My OB asked me if she could PLEASE check me today b/c the baby is soooooooooo low they were all nervous that I was 5cm or something...turns out I am only one...and nothing is going on ... she is just exceptionally super duper low..
All bets are that she will stay hibernating til her due date or beyond- just like her sisters did!!
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!
Has anyone used the Eddie Bauer travel bed? A friend dropped one off for me today ...does not seem super comfy - but is miniscule compared to cartinga pack-n-play around ....so we might give it a whirl as the babies use the pack-n-play in our room for 4 months it would be nice to not take it apart when we are going somewhere...
Happy Monday:cheer2:
sorry, had to use a smily face somewhere!!!

Wow!! You guys have been busy here!!

I loved the necessities discussion!! And I love it when you all recommend your favorite things! You're all Oprah! I started a file with all the product recs and tips.

So anyone have anymore?

My mom said the swing was her big necessity for me. It was the only place i would sleep. But as an adult, I am a horrible sleeper. I have a very hard time falling asleep. So I'm not sure I want to depend on a swing too much.

Ok, girls. I'm really nervous right now. I feel like crap anyway-started vomiting last night, took dd9 to the orthodontist this morning and had to pull over to vomit on the way home. My sinuses are in a mess, and I don't know what I can take. I'm planning to ask the dr. tomorrow.

When we got home, dd9 went out to play with her dog in her pen. The dogs are in a pen inside our fenced in yard. The gate to our yard broke last night, so we can't shut it. Bell got past her and ran out into the park (we live in the city park). She came running in screaming hysterically (this is her 2nd dog-the 1st one she found dead in the pen so I was scared Bell had died when she came running in). Dh was getting his shoes on, so I ran out to try and catch her. I caught up with Bell on the walking track, but when I bent down to get her she ran and knocked me down. I caught myself on my hands first, but then fell on my stomach. My hands are killing me, and my stomach isn't, but I'm still nervous. I'm glad I go to the dr. tomorrow, but I know I'll be worried about this for awhile.

december- Hope all is well with you and your baby. How far along are you again? Hopefully you will start to feel better soon. Good luck at the doc's.

december--sounds like your hands took the worst of it. I'm so glad you're going to the Dr tomorrow, so you can know right away that everything is fine.

My Dr gave me a list of all the stuff I can take and I was surprised at some of the stuff on there, so I'm sure you'll be able to get some sinus relief. I had a really bad cold a while back and didn't use anything besides Vics and it was terrible. Then Dr told me there was a bunch of things I could of tried. Every Dr seems to have a different list, but mine said that regular Sudafed is fine and a bunch of others I can't think of right now...

My sister said the same thing....and 4 different swings later, my boy NEVER liked the swing. We tried front to back, side to side, Amby, and Newborn Soothing Center....not so much on any of them. He prefers to be still to sleep.... I swear I thought something was wrong because so many babies liked the swing. I kept 2 of them and will try again when this one gets here, but not all babies like the swing...but I think most do....LOL

I'll be 23 wks tomorrow. I'm sure I'm fine, but nervous. And I'm still vomiting every time I eat. I can't blame it on the fall, though. I started doing it last night. I had a ton of stuff due for my grad class, and lots of grading for my classes at school, so I think I'm just exhausted.

I get to pick my baby's birthday on Wed...or rather take my first attempt at it. I'm a scheduled csection, so we're looking at the week of 4/27.

But..I could go earlier if this one is huge like my 2 year old. I'm hoping she's going to send me for an ultrasound soon, they are going to keep a closer eye on him. With my 2 year old I was measuring 7-8 lbs at 32 weeks and they said, no way, that has to be off. It was dead on, as he was 11 lbs born at 38.5 weeks.

It's my 24 week check on wed (but I'll be almost 25 weeks) last ultrasound was at 18 weeks. I get to go for another 3 hour glucose. I passed about 6 weeks ago when they did it early. Oh boy...let the fun begin :)
