Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

It's okay Kellie!! You sound like you're doing great. Just get done what you can, and let the rest go! (I know, easy for me to say--I have no idea what you're going through!)

Best wishes to everyone in the homestretch!! (and everyone else too!)

I found out my friend from work and I are due the same day!! Isn't that cool?!

nesting is WAY too mild of a word for what is happening at my house!!!
yesterday I started hauling stuff back into my closet ... we are in the middle of a remodel and I just snapped. all this JUNK is in my room and the babys room b/c there is nowhere else for it to go...as they are in the middle of doing the BASEMENT too.. needless to say, I have been spending a lot of time in my 6 year olds room ;)
so I told my husband ENOUGH and that I couldnt give a #% that he had not taped and mudded the sheetrock in the closet. he could take everything back out when he gets around to that...which he isnt planning on doing til the basement is ready to be taped and mudded.
our tile on the new bath was done a week ago and he STILL hasnt sealed it...c'mon .....
he is 80% finished painting the babys room ...so cute w/ tone on tone stripes on a light lavender ... did alternating matte then high gloss so its all the same color but looks so cool b/c of the contrasting finish. Now he is pouting b/c I hate the rug I had to have for her 4 months ago...mmmmm, just take it back for me, please????
i have a trundle bed in there right now b/c it was the guest room...we gave DD the double bed from in there and swapped. Now w/out the basement done we dont have a guest room and we are constantly revolving company so I want to keep a bed in there as long as possible. This is making him nuts. I figure the baby will be in our room for 4 months so who cares, right?
Does anyone else keep the baby w/ them?
We use the pack and play bassinet next to our bed, or did, seemed to make life easier and I felt like i could check them whenever i wanted to...
LABOR SNACKS? holy guacamole, I better start thinking about LABOR?
ack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so in denial....and for some reason this feels like I have never done this before...(hmmm, could it be that my youngest is about the turn FOUR!)
:rotfl2: I am so in trouble here...freakin out a little....lisa, keep me calm.........

:rotfl: Thank God for you Kellie! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time (and boy did I need it!). Your DH sounds like mine, with 20 different projects waiting to be finished. ;)

Your nursery walls sound awesome! I would love to see a picture...and then I can hit my DH AGAIN for all this stinking male sperm he keeps giving me.:lmao:

We also keep baby with us for quite a while. So much easier that way. We just moved our two boys in to the same room (and same bed, by their choice...it's so cute) and turned the other bedroom into a playroom. I'm hoping to have at least 4-6 months before I have to decide how to reconfigure.

I'm just hoping right now that I don't forget anything while shopping today. Why do we get the mindset that it all has to be at once?!:confused3 :rotfl:

I plan on walking a lot today....got to get that head down!!!:thumbsup2

Oops, forgot to multi-quote.

How exciting to have someone you know due on the same day! With my last pregnancy, my DSis and I were due a little over 4 weeks apart. It was so much fun!

I can't believe I am in the homestretch already! OMG, my baby is due in 3 1/2 weeks!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Kellie, at least you HAVE a nursery! This baby will be in our room for the 1st year at least! We'll have to get bunkbeds for dd9's room eventually-no room for 2 beds, or even for a double bed. Her room is about 9x10, and with the closet taking up one wall, there is just no room! Dd9 wanted a girl so bad, now she is stressing over sharing! I warned them! Ds11's room stays so neat-it wouldn't have been nearly the problem fitting in the baby (their rooms are the same size). The main problem I guess is the age difference-doesn't seem fair to stick a baby in with a pre-teen. This house is tiny, but free with dh's job. Who knows where we'll be in a year, so I'm trying not to worry about it.

Yes! I kept saying how weird it was that I didn't know anyone else that was pregnant. My BF is trying and we have high hopes that she'll succeed soon, so that she won't be too far behind me.

I really wish we hadn't told them yet. I think we've put even more pressure on them to get pregnant. They are our best friends in the world and I think we're both concerned about being at different places in our lives. It would have been really hard to hide from just them though.

Anyway, we saw them for NYE and their like, "it's a girl, right?" and I'm like, "actually, I think so, but we don't know." And their like "good, cuz we need to have the boy, cuz if we had a daughter, she'd be too tall for a son of yours!" That sounds way harsher than it was! :lmao: DH and I are short and our friends are both really tall. It's always been a big joke with us. Anyway, she thought she was pregnant this month, bust turned out not to be. And it's been hard on her.

Anyway, I've rattled on enough!

its tough on other when you are pregnant and they are not. My BFF and I were always going to have kids together and Caleb is now 3mos old and she is still not pregnant yet. I hope things work out for your friend

Thanks. They've been 'trying' a lot longer than we have. Not super seriously, though. The husband was a little reluctant, but that all changed when we told them. Now their both really into it and I'm trying to teach them about charting and stuff--it's funny. Nothing will change for me and DH with them, but I felt right away, that they are very concerned about what'll happen if they keep having problems.

sarah, we could not get pregnant for a super long time w/ our first...what finally worked was using a ovulation kit from walgreens that tells you when you are ovulating - we got pregnant right away! we had tried everything and were beyond frustrated at that point. my husbands brother had announced their pregnancy and I took that really hard...then voila, we ended up only six weeks behind them!!!! they had a hard time too, and used the ovulation kit...I remember my sister in law saying she called her husband who was in another state for work and said "get home now. next plane. it says i am ovulating" and, voila!, just like that they were prego!
maybe trying it would be worthwhile for your friend?

here is lisa ... walking to get things started and I am sitting on the couch w/ my legs crossed praying for more time!!!! this is hilarious. My friend just dropped off my groceries and did a Target run...I seriously WILL NOT WALK because whenever I do the contractions start...DH is in New York for work next week....and has military obligations 4 hours away that weekend ..soooooooo....I need at LEAST 11 more days out of this baby...

I'll suggest them to her. I think it's a great idea. She has such a tough work schedule and its hard to take her temp at the same time everyday--I bet the ovulation kits could really help.
I think I'll email her now before I forget!
Thanks! And I'll keep everything crossed for you for at least 11 more days! :teeth:

Ugh... I am right there with freaking out about the babies coming!! My last appointment the dr, was like... 9 more weeks and we get these babies out! She was all excited, and I was like... WHAT???? Omg. 9 weeks. I dont even have a crib! Or ANYTHING!!! So we went through and cleaned out our room today, got the bassinet cleaned out and all scrubbed up.. In case they come we at least have SOME PLACE for them to sleep. :lmao: No clothes, diapers, or car seats... But a bassinet. :lmao:

We arent doing a nursery either... I am going to side car a crib onto our bed for them for a while.. That way I can nurse, and have them where I can reach them. Who knows when i will kick them out to their own room... My youngest slept with me until she was 2 and a half. :rolleyes1 But my husband works nights.. and almost every night, so not a huge deal for us.

Anyhow... Im hungry, again. :rotfl2:

Eeek!

I'm an obsessive planner and am going to go buy nursery paint tonight.... I have the next two weekends off and then CLASSES start, eek!

However... we just got the house so I'm on a mix of excitement for baby and excitement to get the house done. That might be helping me a bit!

I'm getting frustrated with my company. I've talked to FIVE people in HR and no one can tell me my "Recognized Service" (you have to have 2yrs to get the full 12 weeks of fully paid maternity leave!) or tell me whether or not I'm elgible.

Seems a little crazy when you're own HR department can't figure out their policies!!

It is hard, on both ends. She'll feel jealous and you'll feel guilty, whether you want to feel it or not. It can take up to one year for most normal couples to conceive, just stay positive for her.

We also have matchmaking plans for DH's BF's kids. We have the boys, they are pregnant with girl #2, so I keep telling them they only need to produce one more future daughter-in-law for me!;)

Well, I did my walking. At times it was painful, at others, I wasn't even waddling. As long as there is progress when I get checked on Tuesday. The more I dilate now, the less I have to later!:thumbsup2

Ooohhh, you better keep that baby in until DH is home!!!:scared1:

Got diapers, a humidifier, baby wash and lotion, and an outfit. Still need a baby book. Feels like I'm forgetting something.

That made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants.:rotfl:

Too bad we all don't live close...we could get one house done a week with all of this nesting going on!

:lmao: My appetite has gone through the ROOF lately. I eat a full meal, and two hours later Im starving. I look at my husband.. Im hungry. He looks at me... I know. :rotfl2: I have gained like 15 pounds in the past 6 weeks. :scared1: Its not THAT bad, considering thats ALL the weight Ive gained this pregnancy. But still... DANG thats a lotta poundage in a short time!:rotfl2:

I have more respect for women who have multiples than anyone else in this world!:worship: I've gained somewhere in the 40 lb range:rolleyes1 ...if I had two babies in here, oh man!:scared1: SERIOUS RESPECT!

:lmao: When I went to my last appointment, I had gotten NO sleep the night before, both babies were bouncing their big heads off my bladder... and you guessed it... I was hungry. :rotfl2: Anyhow, the nurse was walking with me back to the room, and she was telling me that she had always wanted twins... Until she started working there. Now she sees how much pain most of the women seem to be in al the time, and she so does NOT want twins! :lmao:

My best friend and I are in totally different places in our lives. She's single, doesn't have a serious boyfriend and doesn't plan to have children ever. Another good friend of mine is in a similar situation. I wish they could both find Mr. Right, at least. :(

My (basically, but not legally) sister-in-law announced she is pregnant today...

Seems common to see multiple pregnancies.

oy... After months of denial, and having my head buried in the sand.. I am FINALLY getting ready for the babies!:lmao: I talked to my mom last night, and she wanted a list of what I dont have. I dont have ANYTHING yet. Seriously. I have some odd and end clothes I have picked up here and there.. Some folks have sent me some stuff.. But as far as baby hardware? Nothing. :scared1: I know. Its crazy.

So I send her a list of what I was looking at as far as a crib... car seats, stroller and the like. I get an e-mail from my Aunt this morning.. She got me the car seats, and the stroller!!! OMG. I was BAWLING when I read that! THOSE were going to be what cost us the most. It isnt easy finding a stroller that will take two infant carseats, plus be tall enough, and comfortable for my tall husband to be able to push. I am just shocked! Honestly, I was just hoping for a package of diapers if anyone wanted to get us a gift!

THEN my mom calls... She got me the crib, and crib mattress. WHAT???? I wasnt expecting ANY of this. I have been a sobbing puddle of goo all morning. I couldnt stop blubbering on the phone long enough with my mom to really get anything out..

I have been feeling really overwhelmed lately, with everything happening so fast.. This is just taking off a ton of stress.
