"Newest" Moms Hangout... take 2!

Have you tried soothing him back to sleep in the middle of the night without feeding him? How long are his naps during the day? Do you have blackout shades in his room, so he doens't know if the sun is out or not?

His naps are between 30min to 2 hrs.
He doesn't want to be soothed just his bottle at night. He has totally given up on his passy.
He has a window air conditioner in his room so black out curtains won't work.

I am just sick right now. This woman was in my library with her 3 little boys. They were about 5, 3 and maybe 2 months old. The older 2 were running and yelling all over the library (including playing in the elevator). I approached the mom and asked her to get them to stop running and she said, "they won't listen to me. Maybe they'll listen to you." So I walked over and told them that they needed to walk in the library, that it is one of the rules of the library and they need to follow the library rules. They only ran once or twice after that.

The thing I'm sick about was the baby. The mom had been ignoring him screaming for at least 20 minutes. I couldn't take it anymore so I grabbed some books to shelve so I could go near the baby with an excuse and the poor thing was tipped head up in his carrier. He was PURPLE! I said, "excuse me, but did you intend for the baby to be tipped on his head like this?!" She said, "Oh what HAHA, Emmitt?" She actually laughed. She finally walked over to the baby (BTW she hadn't even looked at the child in at least 15 minutes). I walked away and heard her very slightly chastise the oldest boy (he had tipped the poor baby that way). She left the screaming baby in the carrier and they finally left. She didn't take him out and hug him or anything.

I'm upset that I didn't react sooner to the baby's cries. I just wanted to slap that woman and hold the baby.

I try not to judge & to look at things in the kindest possible light.....

In the situation you described, I would be thinking that that mom is feeling completely overwhelmed w/ her 3 kids, that it's probably worse at home. I would also be wondering about PPD.... not responding to, or even looking at baby, when that little a baby cries would be a big red flag to me..... I just see a mom that could use some help......

I was going to say this too, about not feeding him in the middle of the night and maybe he is just overtired and wants to sleep... Carys wakes up a couple times during the night just wanting her pacifier back in or needing to be reswaddled. Is his room too hot or too cold? I know that Carys will fuss if she is too cold. Do you have a white noise machine? Carys likes the sound of her humidifier and that soothes her.

Carys had her 4 month check up today. I have mentioned the fact that she favors one side over my past several visits and was told that it was probably nothing. Now I have been referred to someone for torticollis. And they will come out to my house to evaluate her. Weird! I feel like this could have been addressed earlier and now I've waited to long and what if she can't be helped. I'm scared now. Plus they asked me a lot of questions, like is she smiling, reaching for toys, laughing and cooing. I said yes and then they asked if she was rolling over but it wasn't even like it was a question, but just assumed and I said no. I hope that's not a problem either. Being a mom is a full time worrying job!

Any tips for tummy time and how your babies do it? Are they just on the floor, do you put anything under their chest to boost them up? Do you use the boppy? Just looking for any tips.

I FINALLY got to come home last night! I can't tell you how good it felt to sleep in my own bed! I hope everyone is doing well and has a great holiday weekend!

Well last night we got DS to bed at 8 which is an hour earlier the usualy. He woke up at 8:15 crying but fell back asleep 3 min later without us having to go in. That was a first for him to do that. He still woke up at his usual midnight and 3am. I think he just still needs that extra food in the middle of the night as he showed he can put himself back to sleep. I figure once he is ready he will sleep thru the night. Until then less sleep for DH and I.

At least your DH is losing sleep too. My DH doesn't wake up at all during the night. Maybe your son is growing through a growth spurt and just wants the extra food. Or maybe he just wants to see your face in the middle of the night :goodvibes Sometimes Carys will cry out and I will go in to her and she is fine but she gives me a big huge smile. I tell her it's not play time, it's sleep time!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

We're doing the twins birthday party / BBQ today. Just family mainly -- still about 2 dozen peple. Still have a bit to do, but babies are napping & I'm taking the time to pump.

I am on my 3rd kid and still waiting for my husband to get up once with them!

Holy cow, we were on page 5!! Hope everyone is doing good!!!

Eeeek!! We are putting our house up for sale on Thursday!! And also putting an offer in on a house as well!! Plus, poor E has been clingy, so it has been hard for me to get things cleaned up and cleaned out. Hopefully things all go smoothly, and we can be in a new house soon!!

Hope everyone is doing well. It's been quiet 'round here, maybe everyone is out having some summer fun, instead of putzing around on the computer. :surfweb:

We had the twins 1 year check up today. Dylan is a chunky monkey. :goodvibes He's weighing in at 23 lbs 13.5 oz (approx 50-75%) & 29 1/4" tall (approx 25%) with a head circumference of 18.5" (75%)

Katie on the other hand is pretty long & lean. Weight 20 lbs 4 oz (25-50%) --30" tall (approx 75%) & a head circum of 17.75" (50%)

How did the birthday party go Valerie??

It was OK, we just did a July 4th BBQ birthday. Just family mainly -- about 2 dozen people. Very tiring, since the twins had been having some baaaaad nights.

Babies got a bunch of new clothes & toys. :) We got a cake for my older DS too, as his birthday "do-over" -- since he was really sick for his b-day 2 weeks before. He had gotten a stomache bug -- the first day of summer vacation & got so dehydrated he ended up in the ER for IV fluids, poor kid. He also had an RX for zofran, to keep the nausea at bay so he could eat & drink. Anyways, he's better now, but has some lingering lactose intolerance issues that he didn't have before getting ill. Been keeping lactaid milk in the house for him.

lol I don't have much to talk about I guess.

Too bad Patsy won't come back and liven this place up.

I feel like I am telling the news to an empty room, but yesterday, Sarah crawled for the first time and we learned that she is going to have a little brother.

Woohoo!!!! Awesome news on the crawling?? How old is Sarah now??

And yippee for little boys!!! How has Cathy been feeling?
