"Newest" Moms Hangout... take 2!

Want to vent here cause I know it is not my place to say anything as it is not my child to raise but my neighbor has what looks to be a 1 yr old and she is constantly blasting her music while the kid is in the car. I can hear the base and music even when she has the windows closed. That poor child is going to grow up with some hearing problems.:sad2:

My cousin has hearing problems because his father listened to music too loud everywhere: care, house, backyard. My cousin, who is now in his 30's cannot EVER go to a concert, for fear of busting out his eardrums...such a shame :(

Anyone have any advice for plane trips? We will be traveling to visit my in-laws mid-August and I am starting to get nervous about the plane.
Definitely make sure that the little one is hitting the bottle or munching the paci during ascent and descent so her ears can equalize the pressure change without hurting. That's super important.

We packed a small carryon with just Sarah's toys and made sure to always have a bottle ready to give her. This helped curb her dissatisfaction somewhat.

Make sure that you pick out the best seats for your needs. Our trip had a connection in Chicago, so it was a short flight from Nashville to Chicago crammed into an RJ and then a large jet to Europe. On all flights, we picked seats toward the back of the plane. This (and preboarding) allowed us to get settled without inconveniencing too many other people and it put us closer to the all important restroom. (AA's 767s have changing tables in the rear restrooms.)

767s have three seats in the middle and two on the outside rows. On the flight from Chicago to London and Paris to Chicago, we reserved both aisle seats in the middle section. Our theory was that if the plane was super full, the last seats to be chosen would be single center non-aisle seats in the back of the plane.

Our plan worked perfectly on the outbound flight, giving us an extra seat that Sarah used to play and nap in. Unfortunately, our flight from Paris was four hours late and ended up going out completely full, so we didn't get the extra seat. (I swapped with the person who got assigned the middle seat.)

Since our flight was so delayed, we very nearly ran out of both diapers and formula. (We would have ran out of both had we not had to retrieve our bags to go through customs in Chicago.)

Not mush going on here. Lily is pretty close to walking and we're getting ready for her birthday party and the Disney trip. I'm dreading the drive so much! But can't wait for the trip.
We've taken lots of car trips of a few hours with Sarah. Typically, she gets sick of being on the road and has a meltdown or twenty. Generally, Cathy or I end up sitting next to her so we can keep her amused and realtively happy. Of course, this is kind of a pain for the driver who suddenly becomes a chauffeur.

Nighttime car trips are always a pain because Sarah really doesn't care for the dark that much. We end up keeping the light right above her door on, but that's not a perfect solution (and can be a big downer if you forget to turn it off when you arrive at your night's destination.)
OMG that is sooo cute!! Lily says mommy, daddy, hi and bye, but that's it so far. She does a lot of copying the words we say though, with like sounding baby babble. It's great to get an update!!
Sarah also babbly copies what we say. It's a good reminder for us to keep our verbiage rated G.

Her first word was 'hot dog' thanks to the hot dog song on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Beyond that, she'll babble dadadada all day long. and she will belt out MaMa! when she is upset.

Princess Wigglypants is under the weather.

She caught HFMD and has a painful sore in the back of her mouth and a secondary ear infection. She is pretty miserable.

Really important question here... What are the words to the "hotdog" song at the end when they are leaving the clubhouse? It goes something like... We're splittin the scene, we're full of ...?... so long for now it's Mickey Mouse. Sounds like they are saying we are full of beans. HELP it is driving me and DH nuts!:rotfl:

Allison had this a few weeks ago... It was horrible and took her almost a full week to feel totally better. She barely ate or drank for 2 days when the sores in her mouth were the worst.

hope your little one is feeling better soon!

Hot dog! (Hot dog)
Hot dog!

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Now we got ears, it's time for cheers

Hot dog, hot dog, the problem's solved
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

Grab my boots and a sandwich
Let's start a parade
Get the coconut drum kit
For Daisy to play

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
We're taking off, we're dancing now
Hot dog, leapfrog, and holy cow
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
It's a brand new day
Whatcha waiting for?
Get up, stretch out, stomp on the floor

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
We're splitting the scene
We're full of beans

So long for now from Mickey Mouse (That's me!)
And the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse"

Too funny! Lily LOVES that song. It's been my ringtone since before she was conceived, so I guess it runs in the family!

Oh no! Poor thing, that sounds horrible! Hope shes feeling better soon!

Beans!! :thumbsup2 No idea why they choose that rhyme, but you're right!

She has been miserable since night before last. She barely ate or drank anything until yesterday evening when Cathy was able to get her to eat and dring a little. I'm told that she is doing much better this morning.

Fingers crossed...

Can anyone give me any tips to get my 16 month old off of the bottle. She will drink water out of a sippy cup with straw but not milk. I must have spent mucho $$ on different cups and she just won't do it for milk. She did do it at daycare yesterday after some whining though last night and this morning was a screaming crying match which left me to end up giving in and giving her the bottle. our pedi said not to press the issue too much but wants her totally off by 2. I want her off by mid-fall the latest since I am expecting #2 in January and don't want to deal with it then.

any thoughts/tips are greatly appreciated!

Is Sarah doing better Steve?
She is. She's back to her old self. We'll continue with the antibiotics for teh ear infection until Sunday and hopefully have it all behind us (until next time).

Thanks for asking.

I plan on doing what my mom did with us when we we're babies having us throw away our bottle because we were big girls/boys now but the trick was she gave us a surprise for being such a big girl/boy she said it was like a little toy or candy! And when we asked for it she just said where'd it go and when we remembered it was in the trash she told us its no good now its trash!! It seemed to work so I'm gunna give that a shot with Logan!! Hope everything works out and when you do get her off please share how! :flower3:

I had to take one of my cats to the vet today and was met with the challenge of carrying the cat carrier and the car seat. My cat weighs as much as Carys!! Though I enjoy that the people standing around offered to get the door for me... oh wait, that didn't happen.

I got asked twice if Carys was a boy or a girl. What, the onesie with the flowers and butterflies didn't give it away? and if one more person tells me how "big" she is I might freak out! She actually was called chunky today and then the lady proceeded to grab her thighs and give them a squeeze and her cheeks too! So my question is, how big were your babies at 4 1/2 or 5 months? Here is a pic I took a couple days ago of Carys... does she look freakishly abnormal or something? :lmao:

Hello Everyone!! How is everyone doing? Well I hope!! We've been good just been very busy Logan started his first gymboree class yesterday!! He was alittle fussy but I hear thats normal sicne its all new to them. But we plan on going twice a week!! So that hes used to other babies and can play too.

We got some not very good news a couple weeks ago when my DH went to the drs he has kidney failure which we've been dealing with for about 2yrs now and he's not doing so good he said he feels fine but the pecentage of his working kidney is VERY low down to only 9% and they usually start you on dialysis at 10% but since he's feeling fine and has to symptoms of feeling bad so it's up to really when he starts so its just really a waiting game really. He's been really down and doesn't wanna talk about it but I just don't want him to have symptoms and not tell us or the dr. But on a happy note we're buying a house!! Which is because of him needing to be on dialysis since he's going to be doing it at home we need more room. Please keep us in your prayers that everything works out and he doesn't need dialysis and gets a transplant soon!! :flower3:

Your daughter is ADORABLE! People are crazy; she by no means looks 'big' or 'chunky' to me.... I think people have warped ideas of what size babies are suppose to be. She looks perfect to me!

And Sbell11: Thanks for all the plane ride tips!

I fear we're going to have the same problem and wish I had some wisdom to share! :grouphug:

Yay! That's good news! Hopefully she'll stay healthy for a long while!:goodvibes

I think she looks completely normal and totally adorable. I think the "big" thing is just something people say. It's part of our baby talk culture...just like "How is she sleeping?" "When are you due?" "holy crap, you're huge!" :lmao:

 My MIL had a kidney transplant in her 30s. My prayers are with you and I hope you find a great house!

So Lily is having her first nursing strike. She refuses to nurse during the day for the most part. She hasn't nursed since 8am and I had to go to work. :headache:

With Lucas I took 1 bottle away everyday. He only got a sippie cup for that feeding "time"... The last one I took away was the one at bedtime. I started only putting juice/water in the sippie cups, thinking he'd find them more appealing if they were something different and new. He never got juice in a bottle.

We had no issues. When he started to get his molars, we back slid a bit because I think the sucking on the bottle really helped him. Then I found some Nuby sippie cups that have a really soft top that he could suck on and within a week we were completely done with bottles. :thumbsup2 I wanted him done with them before Owen came, too.

He did find one of the Drop-In cases yesterday and walked into the kitchen holding it. I don't know if he was trying to tell me he wanted a bottle or just bringing it to me like it was treasure. He happily took a sippie cup, though, in exchange for it... :goodvibes
I tossed all the nipples at one point so I couldn't give him a bottle (unless I opened the ones I bought for Owen, I guess) and I think that helped me not give in to him.

He wasn't happy at first but happily takes them now, though he does have his favorite cups.

I'm not sure how long he's been off of bottles but it's been a few weeks at the very least. I started the transition when I started him on milk.

Just had to share my excitement! I just got the confirmation email from member's services that we are confirmed at Tree House Villas for Brynn's first trip in May! Now I only have 10 months to obsessively plan the trip! :rotfl:
