Newest Free Dining Pin - details?

I've been reading the different threads that discuss free dining pins. But, I'm confused! So, for the newest FD pin that was released on Mar 1st, what are the details of it? I've seen some say that it's QSDP for Values, and Reg. free dining plan for Mods and Deluxes. But, I also saw some posts say it was QSDP for both Values and Mods, and the Reg dining plan was only for Deluxes. Are there really different versions of the newest FD plan that was just released on the 1st? That kinda stinks if they've gone to the free quick service plan for Mods, and why the different versions if that is what they've done. But, so far no pins here for free dining anyway.

Well, today, I got the mail and saw something from Disney Destinations and was all excited! Good new, opened it and it was a Pin! Bad news, it was only for 10% off for the Sun - thu's in May. Argh. That's really nothing, less than the tax they charge you. Now, my trip with my daughter isn't until Dec. so that doesn't help us there anway. She is actually going with her boyfriend(his first trip, her first w/o me ) in May, but the room only deal they already have on the site is like 30% off so much better than the pin. Oh well, they've sent one, maybe they'll send something else!

I just got the same one but I didn't notice the PIN number on it. Maybe I missed it. I guess each year the FD is less and less. 2007 all resorts and tips included, 2008 no tips included, 2009 same, 2010 no tips, Values quick serve, 2011 DDp free only for the deluxe. Probably not really worth it unless 4 adults in the room (adults for food not actual adults otherwise the extra cost) Found the PIN number it's on the very bottom

The fd pin we received was for free QS dining for values and mods, regular ddp for deluxes. The interesting thing to me was booking w the free dining pin opened up resorts that were "booked" when I tried to book w the 40% off deal.

INteresting that you brought this up. I was booked at CR for garden wing and the garden wings have been gone for some time. So, when i called to add my new FD pin, CR had no more availability for the FD except in CL rooms, despite the fact that i already had gw rooms booked and had the email pin. But i could switch to Poly GW and get the free dining, plus add another night and still save money. Ok, works for me! I was thinking, 'hmm, someone will now be able to book GW at CR now. ' But not with the FD at this point. Still, since the GWs always go first, that will be good news for someone else.

Sounds like it worked out!!! We have stayed at both and both resorts are great. But, your story goes to show that having a room booked in advance does not mean that you will automatically be able to apply a new discount when it comes out.

Quick question...if we are booked using DVC points and get a FD pin, can we just add the FD to our reservation?

I'm guessing probably not, but I thought I would ask.

Anyone else have any other experiences? I know I read some where they said they were offered the regular dining plan at the Mods, not the qsdp that was offered at the Value levels. Thanks for responses!

The one DisneyFan55 posted is the current pin. It is QSDP for Values AND Mods. Only DDP for Deluxes.

I figured it would be Free Reg DDP for moderates.............Quick service was kind of a bummer but I bit anyway and upgraded to Reg DDP for about $180.

I'm hoping another offer comes out for free reg DDP for moderates - I want that $180 back.

Wonder what the chances of this happening are?

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay per night with the discount? I tried to price it out but garden wing was sold out right away. I assumed it was not even offered with the discount, kept getting MK Tower which was a fortune. We have free dining at POR which we booked last August. Great deal but the Contemporary would have been nice.

I called and asked if I had the pin. She said I did and it was for FD and included a TS, CS and snack for a moderate. So we got that, but it only deducted 250, so maybe that was the cost with it upgraded?

I received the email PIN this week - had booked the night before online. I called to see if it was a better deal to finally upgrade to a deluxe but it was still more than we wanted to spend. We were already booked at CBR with regular dining plan. I said we would just use the PIN for CBR and downgrade to the Quick Service plan - thinking I would just pay for 2 character meals on top of it. CM offered to apply the PIN and then upgrade the dining & we just paid the price difference between the 2 plans. Shaved like $900 off our 9 day trip - YAY!! I was hoping they could do & was going to ask but she offered before I could ask.

I'm not sure which discount you mean. When I was booked at CR I did not have any discount - neither room discount nor FD. It was rack rate. I think it was just about $400 per night, which is kind of shocking, so I try to block that out.

The last two years for summer, Tower has been approximately $100 more per night. I remember because last year I upgraded after I was booked and it was an additional $600 to move to tower for 5-6 nights. That was a $600 that I decided to spend elsewhere this year. For one thing, I have a toddler so high balconies cause me more anxiety than pleasure.

Not sure how true this is since some CMs are misinformed, but last year I was calling for Kids Stay, Play & Eat free at All Star Movies. It was sold out, so I asked what the chances were that I could snag a cancelled reservation before our trip. He said that when I trip is cancelled that was booked with a promo (PIN or otherwise,) it goes back into the 'general pool' of non-discounted rooms. So once a room type or resort is all booked up for a promo, there is no possibility of it opening back up.

Does anyone know if this is actually true?
