Newest Free Dining Pin - details?

I just got back from the princess half marathon on the 1st and a couple days later dh got the FD PIN. We wont be using it :sad2: but this is the second time it has happened. Last year we went in June and when we got back dh had the "monster" PIN in the mail box. We did book that, but ended up having to cancel. I would love to be able to use one one of these days.
With that said I did get FD for the princess trip so I can't complain too much, but I probably still will. :lmao:

I have odered the DVD, which never came. Ordered from the Disneystore.com, which hasn't come yet. I have two saved trip on Disney site. I didn't get one but my two daughters both got one in the mail. Go figure.

I'm also wondering if you have to book 5 nights to use the FD pin?

You only have to stay a minimum of 3 nights.

And for those of you who are hoping to get it - have you tried calling WDW reservations yet to see if you have the pin attached to your name? I have seen a lot of people report here that they never received an email or letter and ended up calling to find out they had it.

DW called today and we have the FD PIN!! We have received nothing via email or snail mail. Makes you wonder what WDW is doing. How hard can it be to send emails to all those that they pick from the sorcerer's hat when picking those to give FD. Sometimes I think they just make it up...

We loved the FD we had for Thanksgiving 2009.

a pin for free quick service for value and mod resorts from 6/3-8/13 or free dining plan for deluxe resorts or villas from 7/17-8/13.
We were able to add the pin onto our package at a mod resort, keeping the dining plan we wanted but 600.00 was taking off the price. So we kept the disney dining plan that would have cost us 1229.00 and are now paying roughly half. We are very happy to save that amount. That is approx what are rental van is going to cost. LOL

The free dining pin offer requires a minimum of a three night stay at rack rates and like all discounts for Disney offers it has a limited quantity of rooms to be booked aside from the public options. Different discounts have different availability. There is a minimum two day base ticket requirement on this specific offer. Every single Disney offer has a scenario like the five day one on this offer that gives you a "lead in" or example of what the value of the offer could be with specific criteria. Most of the adds refer to two adults (18 or older), one junior (10-17), and one child (3-9). If your party is different the rates are not always realistic. Different dates, party mix, room, tickets, and so on equals a different price. Disney is like shopping at the grocery store. You pick your elements and you get a different "meal" with different ingredients. This offer will allow the quick service dining plan at Moderate and Value resorts and the regular dining plan (often mistaken for the "plus") at Deluxe resorts. You can get any plan you wish by upgrading and merely paying the difference between what is free for you and what you want. So if you are staying at the Disney's Beach Club Resort and you have the free regular dining and you upgrade to the Deluxe dining plan you are paying $30-something for a plan that is normally more like $80-something. I hope this helps.

This may have been asked but If someone could confirm I'd really appreciate it.

I booked a 5 night trip to the GF in May using the 40% Room Only pin. I was told by someone that at times you can call Disney when they release Free Dining codes and possibly stack the two, which I thought was impossible.

Can someone please clarify whether this, or anything similar involving a dining discount on top of my discounted room reservation would be possible? Thanks! :worship:

Excuse me for the term: No way in H-E-double-sippy-straws. No double dipping sadly.

So excited....just booked CSR for 8/6-12 with free dining. I told the CM that I had a postcard & she never asked for the pin. I was all ready to ask if we could upgrade to the DDP instead of the QSDP & she suggested it to me! Only downside is we are probably driving from MD b/c I know we will never get reasonable airfare w/the prices of gas! Now I need to get my dining planned!

Okay, I'm still slightly confused over the pin codes. Now, I have only been to WDW once 19 yrs ago and we stayed offsite. Will my name be in the system because I'm registered on the website? I'm not sure how else my name would be there to see if I've never stayed onsite before. Should I bother calling to see, or will they have no record of me even though I'm registered on their site? I feel so...so...new!

If you stayed 19 years ago, there's a chance they won't have you in their system. What I have seen a lot of people do is order the vacation planning dvd. Everyone I have seen order that DVD will have a pin code attached to their name within a couple of weeks. Sure, it doesn't happen 100% of the time, but I have seen it happen more times than not. Even if you are registered on the website, I would order a dvd and then call a couple of weeks later. Definitely doesn't hurt to try!!

I booked a moderate hotel using the PIN and thought I would share my experience:

When I called to book I asked to redeem the PIN with QSDP. The CM said that I had a choice between QSDP and Disney Dining Plan. This did not make sense to me so I asked are they both free? and she said yes. So I went for the Disney Dining Plan because the value was higher and I thought I was getting it completely free. No mention of an upgrade fee.

When she quoted the price to me it was higher than what I had calculated on my own and I asked again whether the Disney Dining was free and again she said yes. So I booked it.

I then double checked my calculations and I kept coming up with a lower amount than what I booked. I called back and found out that I was in fact charged an upgrade fee for the Disney Dining Plan.

It is only $110 but it just wasn't worth it to me, based on my calculations, so I had them change it back to Quick Service Dining Plan which is totally free.

The cast members were very friendly but they are still in sales and I was glad I had done the math on my own.

Don't know if this would be of interest to anyone, but when I booked my ressies with the pin I had them give me the price of CSR with the dining upgrade to reg. Dining and WL with free dining. WL was only $130 different for the trip (going 8/8-8/14) We decided to try our hand at a Deluxe resort since the price wasn't that much different.:cutie::cutie::cutie:

Quick question...if we are booked using DVC points and get a FD pin, can we just add the FD to our reservation?

I'm guessing probably not, but I thought I would ask.

For the time we are going in May, I was cheaper to not use my DVC points and use the kids stay/play free. Sometimes, you just need to look at all the situations. By the time I paid for tickets & DDP using my DVC, I could do the Kids Stay/Play, so since this is a quick add-on trip since I have to go to Orlando for a meeting, we are going the cheaper route this time.

But, I've found, you can't use any of the promos using your DVC. We have used our DVC for an Alaskan cruise in May. I had enough points for DH, DD and myself, but had to pay for my DS. They came out with the kids sail free promo for Alaska. I called to see if my son could be free, since I had paid for him, but since I used DVC, the answer was no.

We ended up canceling our first reservation and booking at POP with free QSDP. We are still eating at 2 sit down places during our trip, but we'll just pay oop for those.

Our original trip was for 6 days, and it was MUCH cheaper to stay at POP for 9 days instead.

Gotta love free food! :thumbsup2

does anyone remember the dates of the last free dining that was offered? I am looking for the start date of it, was it 8/19? I know its expired and I don't want to confuse anyone but we may have to modify our ressie and arrive a day earlier and I can't remember when the FD offer began.
