Forgive me if this has been answered before, but I've never done online check in before. Would like to try it this time. Our trip is August 21-26 staying at AofA. Would like to request a suite near the food court and buses and was told this was the best way to do this. When is online check in available for my dates? And if I do it, what happens then? Do we bypass the front desk area altogether? When would we be given the room number? Thanks!

You could make your request anytime to be noted on your reservation. You can call and have the request added to your reservation.
You do online check in and if the system is working correctly they will text you your room number when it is ready and you can bypass the lobby. We haven't been since they started doing this, so we have always had to make a stop at the front desk. At that time, you typically receive your welcome pack and your room assignment.
I believe online check in is at 10 days but if you log into your MDE ap then it will tell you the number of days until you can do online checkin.
Fingers crossed that I can do the text message for our July trip's check in.

Actually you can do online check in at 60 days out.
