Hi all, needed some clarification on the passes I just bought to WDW. I know I could have asked Disney, but I thought I'd get a little more objective reply from you all. I'm sorry if this gets a little wordy and confusing, but here I go.
There are five of us going in the first of June. I have four hopper passes left from 2001 with one day left on each. Back then as you probably know, the hoppers never expired. A privelige Disney now charges us for. We're planning four days at the disney parks, maybe five, hopping on one or two of those days. When I went to buy the tickets I discovered that I could get four 5 or even 6 day base tickets for about 150 bucks less than 4 day hopper passes. Even without the no experation option. Always wanting to save a few bucks I bought four 6 day base passes. OK, I got a little hasty. When I got my email confirmation I read the terms a little closer, (yeah I know). That's when I see "tickets can only be used by the same person each and all days."
Does that mean that once one of us uses a pass the first time, no one else can use it? And more importantly, can I use a pass for Animal Kingdom and go to MGM on the same day, using two days off the pass? Which is what I had hoped. See what I mean? 6 day base pass for four days, hopping twice. Can I do it? Thanks for any help you give me. Carl

Oh Carl, you shoulda asked these questions before purchasing! Quick, call back Disney and ask if you can make changes. LOL

You can't go to two parks in one day on the same pass unless it's a park hopper. And more than one person cannot use the same pass because you have to use the biometric finger reader, so the ticket gets assigned to that person.

I'd contact Disney and see what you can do. Or you can upgrade them when you go to the park. Your best bet might be to upgrade what you have when you get to the park to hoppers and save the old tickets for another trip, since those wont expire.

No, you can't do any of the things you want to do.

Tickets are non-transferrable. They always have been. Since all tickets now have a biometric scan attached to them, Disney now has a way to enforce this.

No, you cannot use multiple days off a non-park hopping ticket to turn it into a park hopper. The tickets will not work at the second park. Disney was smart enough to figure out people would try to do this. You actually have to have a park hopper to park hop.

Sorry, you bought the wrong tickets.

Thanks for the replies. So are you saying I can upgrade the passes to 4 day hoppers when I get there? Really I guess we can do it all without hopping, as we were only going to hop once anyway. That's why I didn't think it was worth the extra money.
Another question though. One of us can use the four hopper passes from 2001 right? Even though they were used by diferent people then? I don't recall a finger skanner back then. I realized going in that I might end up buying a one day pass when we got there if we go disney five of the days. Thanks again.

Thanks ZuZugal, That link was excelent. I don't feel to bad really, I think we'll be OK, but I'll sure be more carefull next time.
As a postscript....The last time we went, we were there on 9/11. yeah, that 9/11. That's why we have the extra day on our old passes. first of all, Sept. is a terrible month to be in Florida, but you all know that. We were being lazy that day and hadn't even gotten in a park yet when we found out about the attack. We were on our way and stopped at a store to buy water. We were so stuck by the news that we just drove back to our rented house in Kissimee. We resumed trying to have fun the next day but as you can imagine, a dark cloud seemed to hang over. Figuratively and phisicaly (remember, it was Sept.). As if that wasn't bad enough, a tropical storm hit on Friday which kept us at the house until afternoon. Then we had to deal with the airport on Saturday. When we walked up to the ticket area for NW Airlines the line was a mile long. I didn't think we were going to make our flight. As it was, our connecting flight was canceled. It took us three diferent flights and 13 hrs to get back to Seattle. THAT is why we're sooooo looking forward to our return. I would have went sooner in the year, but our son-in-law is going and graduates from the University of Washington on the 10th of June. we leave at 11:55 that night. Carl
