Thanks Mrs D!!!! You always give great info!!
Ok, after many a search, I did the 2 rm thing and have aprox prices...very helpful and it wasn't too bad, it was cheaper than doing the one suite at ASM which was sort of surprising to me!
Now, I know that they say you can "request" connecting rooms and they won't nec confirm them......but if they know you have a young child do u think you have a better chance of getting them?? Really think I'm gonna do the 2 rooms but since my youngest is 5...will be six in Nov....I do NOT want he and my trip time 12 yr old (11 now) ALONE in a room that has no door connected to our room. Def not.
My other question....about the promos......does anyone know if they should happen to offer say the free meal plan and the stay x nights get x nights free....is there any way you can do BOTH of them?? Or will they only honor one promo?? Also, how do you get "codes" and what exactly are they? Can they be used with other promos??? Clueless here and would appreciate some direction! Thanks!
All for now! Tara in CT
You have 2 adults and 2 children for this trip right? I have read some people saying the only way they'll guarantee a connecting room is if there would be no adult in a room with a child/children. In your situation you technically could stay in one room with one son while your husband could stay in the other room with your other son. I'm betting this is not what you were planning for though.

I only have experience with requesting connecting rooms once. I received it. Actually, when we checked in we were put in a 50's building at Pop with connecting rooms, and I asked if they had anything available in a 60's building. It took a few minutes for them to look it up, but we were able to get connecting rooms there as well. So they had at least 2 pairs of connecting rooms for me to choose from.
If it was me, I'd roll the dice knowing if I didn't get connecting upon check in that I could ask them to look for connecting rooms (and maybe to pay to upgrade to a preferred rooms if needed). I would also know that the connecting rooms would be my top priority and which building or view would be less important. And depending on if you are going at a busy time versus a slower time could impact getting your request. I *think* Pop has more connecting rooms than the All Stars, but you could verify that over on the
Resorts board.
However if you don't feel comfortable taking the chance that you won't get connecting rooms, I'd recommend the family suite.
Regarding the discounts, you may only use 1 discount. Disney doesn't allow double dipping. You could sign up for the
Mousesavers newsletter and they sometime send out emails notifying of discounts being released. You should also closely watch the
Codes & Rates board. I've learned of every code I've ever used from there! Be sure to read the stickys at the top of the page to learn all about codes and free dining, etc.
About how to get codes; unless you received an email or postcard from Disney you will likely be using a 'public offer' code, meaning this is the type of code listed on Disney's
Special Offers page from their booking website that anyone can use.
I'm so glad to be of help! I love Disney and love helping others plan their trips too!
