newbie - magical express

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting, although I have been reading for a few weeks now and have gotten a lot of info...thanks.

Just wanted to let you know what I was just told regarding the Magical express and how annoyed I am. We are arriving for my first ever visit on May 5th and I didn't get my vouchers or luggage tags yet. I called and after a CM put me on hold for a while, said "they are doing their best to get my stuff out to me, HOWEVER, if it doesn't arrive on time, just go to the airport, look for a CM and they'll help you" Well, never having gone to Disney or this airport before, that makes me a little nervous. Just look for a CM in the central part of the airport?? and she said to just use my regular luggage tags? Wondering if anyone else was told this or any suggestions. Thanks so much.

According to some posts in other threads about ME, people who will be traveling during the first few days of the ME service should get their tags this week. If you don't have them by Friday, call them and let them know. There will still be time for them to get your tags to you via Fed Ex before you leave.

Worst case is that you don't get them in time and have to go get your own bags at baggage claim and have to find the ME bus. Somewhere on the web I read that Disney will have CMs at the airport to direct people to the buses, but there was no mention of exactly where those CMs would be. So you'll have to keep a look out for them. I expect they will be holding signs saying "Disney Magical Express" or something similar.

My best guess is that there will be a CM somewhere near the exit doors to "Ground Transportation" at the airport. So worst case, go get your bags from baggage claim and head for "Ground Transportation".

Absolute worst worst case scenario is that you never find a CM and cannot find any ME bus. Then go to the Mears desk at buy yourself a one-way ticket to whichever resort you're going to, but I really doubt it will come to that!

After you get off your plane you'll be walking to a monorail that'll take you to the main terminal. All passengers will be in one of 4 locations and those locations are paired off.

I'd expect to see signs and CM's right after you leave the secure area and enter the main terminal. SPEAK UP if you luggage went out without ME tags. You don't want to be on the bus going to your resort while your luggage goes round and round.

I was told the same thing by my travel agent at AAA who I used to book my trip (for May 5).

I just heard from her today - since I booked through her, Disney is sending my ME stuff to her and then she will send it to me.

She said they just started receiving ME stuff from Disney today. But if for some reason I do not have mine, then see a CM at the airport.

Do you at least have a written confirmation of your Magical Express reservation?

If the luggage tags don't arrive on time, you can always check your luggage the normal way and wait at the Orlando Airport carousel, then take the luggage to the Magical Express bus area yourslef (some Disboards folks say this is not kosher but common sense should override that)

Someone said the Magical Express buses load only on the A side (Orlando Airport's main terminal is a rectangle where A is one long side and B is the other long side, but to get from the B carousels to the A side you have to go up two flights of stairs, cross over through either the hotel atrium or the shopping area, and go down again to ground transportation on the A side.

Just a follow up to my post above....

My TA sent me this via e-mail: "If you don't get the ME packet in time, there will be Disney reps at the baggage claim area to assist you with the handling of your luggage on arrival. Look for them there before you get any of your luggage."

Thank you everyone for your help...I knew I asked the right people Even though I feel it is plenty of time for them to fed x me...they said they can't guarantee and that is why they told me about looking for a CM. My reservation with my hotel and dining plan does have the ME listed so I guess I won't worry and everything will work out for the best at the airport. I guess I just wanted everything to go super smooth!!! But, hey I'm still going in 9 days!!!
