a week or two ago i seen on here someone posted watch dick clarks new years eve special for a disney announcment, "something special for all to enjoy in 2012." but i cant seem to find the thread anymore. couple responses on the thread said maybe theyll anounce grand floridian being dvc now, or an advertisement for the expansion project. in the past ive never seen commercials about specific attractions or resorts, its just been deals. my disney gut thinks it will be the first commercial for a discount of some sort for 2012. anyone else have info on this?

Check the Rumors board - I wouldn't be surprised if it moved there.

i checked the rumor boards and came up empty. guess we'll wait and see. would make sense since dick clark is on abc (disney owned).

There's a couple threads about it. Here's one of them:

Everything is just speculation, no one knows for sure. IMO, it would have to be an announcement to appeal to the general public - so probably some kind of promo. Other things I've heard which I'm not buying:

-DVC at GF - I doubt they would use such a public forum of Dick Clark's NYE to announce this. Most people don't care, frankly. And most people probably don't know what DVC or GF even is.
-Avatarland - this has already been publicly announced and is still several years out.
-Fantasyland expansion info - I'd venture to say this is meaningless to the general public. Not enough to make people feel like they should go visit, especially those who wouldn't normally consider a Disney vacation.
-XPass - again, meaningless. This won't make sense to people unfamiliar with Disney.
-MK open 24 hours on leap day - this is a possibility because its a unique year and they are using NYE to make the announcement, but considering most people plan vacations months out, it's no good for the general public. Would probably only appeal to people in driving distance.
-new theme for 2012 - maybe but that's very boring. I for one don't care about the themes unless a promo comes with it. I don't think they would be hyping an announcement that is just about a theme, and they have never used NYE as an outlet to announce a theme before. Why start now, unless a good promo is coming with it.

Just my 2 cents ;)

I agree with all that - I'm not buying it either.

I think the promo has to be something big - like free dining or buy 4 get 3 was when those came out. They should want to put something out there to make the fence sitters call and book a vacation.

I loved the buy 4 get 3 deal. It was better than the AP discounts that year, so I ended up booking two trips that way. I remember getting a tremendous rate for BLT opening day - even the CM who booked it couldn't believe what a great deal it was.

I'm really hoping for some kind of resort deal, as I'm tentatively planning four WDW trips next year and can use a break . . .

I would be very surprised if it is a large promo. Disney is really trying to cut back on their discounts. There were a few weeks in October that were blacked out for free dining this year and there was no GP room only discount offered for that month. I don't think we will see the buy 4/get 3 offered again unless the economy starts to tailspin.

I think it'll most likely be an announcement about the 2012 theme and/or the FLE. WE know all about the FLE, but most people probably do not. In the past Disney has built up excitement about "big announcements" that haven't lived up to they hype. (Or at least not the speculation that the Dis fan community can come up with.:goodvibes)

I posted this a few weeks ago....

Just got an email from Disney Destinations. Here is what it says.....I hope it is a huge discount promo! I will be watching!

Big announcement on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest!
Here's something else to look forward to! Tune in to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, December 31, 2011, starting at 8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. CST on ABC and watch for a very exciting Disney Parks announcement for you to enjoy in 2012.

THe thread was titled something like "Big Announcement on New Year's Eve".
It may just be WDW announcing the new resort for 2012 or the FL expansion.....but you never know! I remember a few year's ago Universal announced free tickets to the first couple hundred people who called during the superbowl, so all I know, is I WILL BE WATCHING! Good luck to everyone!! A 4/3 or FD deal would be fantastic!!

Keywords: disney day, disneyland day, disney world day, disneyland one day, disney world one day, get a disney day, one more disney day, share disney day, one more day, one more day disney Title: One More Disney Day | Share Your Disney Day | Disney Parks

If you look at the source code to disney's teaser website, you see the above keywords hidden for the search engines.

Based on this I predict disney will be offering a FREE DAY added to any magic your way package OR a additional free day on a hotel stay. Although, if this is gonna be on new years rocking eve and its for the general public I would think that the ticket idea is the one that the general public would be interested in. As they have already offered free extra days at resorts.

This HAS to be something they have never done before.

The clocks indicate one thing "more time to enjoy during leap year". This must mean a free day added to the ticket.

A free day at a hotel would be great, but an add on day to the ticket would only be worth a few dollars. I'm sure there would be a minimum length of ticket to get the free day. Of course, those who are unfamiliar with ticket prices will be excited b/c it sounds like a good deal.

when you go to the link and right click on "view source" you get:

"Share memories of your favorite Disney days by submitting one more of your Disney day vacation photos, videos and stories on the Disney Parks website"

so it could be as boring as another year of 'memories' and getting guests to load up their own holiday snaps.

I can see it being adding an extra day to a ticket but doubt it will be any real discounts

No. It smacks promotion with the way it is being introd. I'd guess a package with a free hotel night and a free extra day on your ticket. I don't think they have done that specific promo before (not a 4/3, probably a 4/1).

Since the theme seems to be "another Disney day" I'm guessing it's just that... another day. Not a free night at a hotel, but another day of admission. Most people who are not huge Disney fans don't realize that adding a day to a ticket can be worth as little as a few dollars. I've always thought the big announcement is going to be the theme for the next year and since the theme seems to be about another day of memories, I'm guessing they may add another day to each ticket purchased. For those of us on this board, it's not going to be a huge deal. Heck, if they give me a free day, I'll buy a 9 day hopper instead of a 10 and save myself a few bucks. The rest of the world will think it's an amazingly generous thing Disney is doing.

hmmm. I wonder if it will only be a day on the tickets. I say this because during the parade on Christmas day, one of the commercials mentioned something about "What would YOU do with another day?" "Would you relax at the pool (or something like that), head to the parks....blah, blah blah.

If the promo is only for another day at the parks, it wouldn't be good for relaxing at the resort???

Maybe I'm completely wrong with what I heard (I was sooooo sick with a horrible virus on X-mas day), but I swear that's what I remember.

Hi all. Just watched the video clip from the link someone posted. Seems to me it's definately about more time. And it looks like more time at a park.
I'm hoping for a free dining in August and September. That's one way DH and I could spend more time at Disney. :goodvibes

I saw the same commercial and thought along the same lines. Not just another park ticket for the day, but another whole day, i.e. hotel, dining plan (if applicable), and park ticket. Like a 4/1 or 5/1 like someone else mentioned.

I have been trying to find the commercial online to post, but no one has uploaded it yet
