:p Yes, Kimmar, another fellow NJ teacher driving down to WDW, but I think I'm going a few days before you? Not sure...we'll be at WL July 7-13. Do you go right after me? I think I remember that to be the case. Anyway, that icon at the beginning of my post will be how I feel this Tuesday when the last day finally arrives! Do you have your room requests all figured out? I think we'll TRY for a woodsview room overlooking the otter pond, MK side.

Tesabat (did I get that right?) Thanks for the info. about the self-parking. I'll be sure to remember to look down!

999ghsts: I have a question about the otter pond. I don't see it mentioned on the map. Is it small? Are there lots of otters or a few? Just curious. I've seen you mention many times that this is one of your favorite locations, as you love otters...I do too! They are just so cute!

Have a great day everyone!

Iago's Mom

I, too, am curious about the lime green ribbons ... I think they are an ID for those of use using this board to spot each other. But we'd better let the experts tell us as just joined this wonderful site in April.

As for pins .... you bet you can get hooked! We got hooked really bad in Nov 1999. It is just a fantastic way to meet people. We found we kept running into the same people and compared landayrds to see what was new! (we have 500+ pins)

I have begun the "I can't sleep because I'm going to WDW" mode. Excitment doesn't cover it! Work is going to be most difficult this week! Anyone else feel the same?

999ghsts, can you (or anyone else who knows) tell me about the rooms that overlook the Villas and quiet pool? Are they considered courtyard rooms as well? What is your opinion of the view they offer? Are they just as good as the inner courtyard rooms? We are going in October and I have booked two courtyard rooms. Is the inner courtyard something I could request when time gets closer?

Another quick question - We will be going with my parents and my mom has a hard time walking long, continous distances. (I know, I know Disney is ALL walking!!) Are any of the courtyard rooms at the bottom of the "U" (facing the lake directly and opening up to the lobby) connecting? If I remember right, these are pretty close to the elevators.

Thanks so much for your help! I have just had time to quickly glance through this huge (awesome!) thread, and it appears your advice is invaluable. It is really nice to have a WL CM on this board. Do any of the other resort boards have a resident expert, or is this the only one? :D

Thanks for the help, 999ghsts! I just booked a room at WL for late Sept and this will be our first stay there. Actually, we've never even been to the resort before so I know very little about it other than the wonderful things that people here say about it and the photos that have been posted. I reserved a courtyard view and would love to have a quiet bunk bed room that has a view of the water parade each night. Distance from the lobby is not an issue for us - what's a few extra steps when you are already walking your legs off each day!

:D You've been very helpful! We're very early risers, so perhaps we'll have some luck at catching a glimpse at an otter or 2! I think that is where I'd like to request, even if I don't get to see any otters! I've seen you mention #5032 numerous times.....I don't suppose I can go as far as requesting a certain room #, right? ;) We'll be happy no matter where we are placed! :D

Have a good day all!

999Ghosts,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for answering all our questions!! I know I really appreciate your help.. I would like to know also will we see you at checkin??
We have a woodsview room, some people have suggested asking for a free or complimentary upgrade at checkin, my question is this if I was given one where would that me?? Better view?? All the rooms other than the villas are the same arent they?? They surly dont upgrade you to the villa's without paying more??? I am just clueless about requesting a certain floor or view. I would like to look out over the lobby and have a nice view from the balcony but dont care if I see the pool etc. Any suggestions??
Thank you for the suggestions re: the bunk bed rooms. My DD refuses to sleep with her brother so that means DH and DS would have to sleep together and they think the bunkbeds will work better.... we will see!! Thanks again.;)

999ghts;

Words cannot express my thanks to you and your advise to all who view this board. We will be arriving Sunday and look forward to all the WL has to offer. We will be faxing our room request soon.

Thanks to everyone else as well. A good Disney trip is an informed Disney trip!!!!

I have a question for 999ghsts or anyone else who may know.

We are considering taking a trip next summer to WDW, and would love to stay at WL again. This time, we plan on taking my husbands parents with us. My question is, which are the best room #'s for courtyard 6th floor facing MK side (I know that you can't see MK, but I remember that you might see the fireworks). Also, if we request woods view, where do we have the best chance of seeing MK and/or fireworks (if you have room numbers, that would be great)

Thanks for your help!

I read a few pages back that if you are using DU you can't fax your room request. Anyone know if this is true? I do know that our DU agent called WL about 10 days before our arrival. Sound good?
Thanks

I I request a lobby room can I still get a mk view

If I request the north wing will I be close to the lobby

I really would like a lobby room wht should I request
I have a woods view reservation
thanks

999ghsts, thank you for your patience and all of your help! I understand that requests are simply just that....a request! I'll be happy no matter where we end up! My DH and I just can't wait to get there!

I think I might have missed this somewhere, but does the balcolny include a table along with a couple of chairs? Or just chairs?

Thanks!

I like to be right in the middle of everything
would you choose a lobby room or a wing room
I like to be near the pool
what are your preferences are there any pros and cons to either

HELP I JUST CANT MAKE UP MY MIND

Beb,

I would chose a room that looks out over the pool. Even if you have a room next to the lobby, you still would have to be outside of your room to enjoy it. Plus, you would probably enjoy sitting on your balcony watching the pool area. You can also see out into the lagoon.

If you want to see the action in the lobby, just go find one of the many nice sitting areas on the main floor or on the upper levels and enjoy!

999ghsts,

I have been a lurker on this board for quite a while and now it is time to dive in. We leave for the Lodge in 5 weeks and cannot wait. We stayed there in June 2000 and of course, loved it.

You mentioned in an earlier post about "combination" courtyard/lobby rooms. Are these the rooms located in the base of the "U" of the hotel? Do you know the room numbers and if they have bunk beds? We have reservations for a courtyard view and my ds wants a bunk bed room badly. Thank you so very much for the info--you provide such a valuable service to us all!

On another thread JerseyJanice just wrote upon her return from WL:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"F.y.i. (and I'll put this in the FAQ), if you want a smoking optional room, do NOT pay for a woodsview or courtyard view. It won't matter. Only a certain section of rooms are smoking. All are technically woodsview, but could be called standard view because the view is pretty poor."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For our reservation in July, we have paid for a woodsview and requested a smoking option room. This has me concerned that I paid for a nice view and will only get a standard view.

What are your feelings on the smoking option rooms? Should I request a certain room number or area that has the smoking option and still a nice view? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for you help,

Julie

Thank you 999ghsts--

That's what I will do~ rq 5100 or higher. Thanks for the prompt response!

Julie

Kimmar--I've been meaning to post to ask how many teachers are taking part in this thread. Seems like several people have mentioned that they are teachers. We just can't resist searching for all of this knowledge!

Teacher roll call--

I teach grades 4-6 in a gifted program.

Any other teachers out there?;)

Donaldsduck -- I just got back from 8 nights at WL. We paid extra for a woodsview and we checked in early in the morning. The front desk said they had a room ready if we wanted it but it was smoking optional. It was room #5097, overlooking the lobby , on the villas side. When I first walked into the room I was really dissappointed with the view. The roof was right under our balcony. It didn't look like much of a woodsview to me. I was going to go and ask for another room but DH told me not to worry about it. Well, to make a long story shorter, I ended up really liking the room. It was very quiet and at night after the kids went to bed we sat on our balcony and it was very private. The rooms on the floor below us, however, probably could see very little over the roof. Next time, I don't think I'll pay extra for a woodsview. Have a great time!

Hi Chance's mom....I teach 1st grade. DH teaches music. School is finally out for us and we're excited about our upcoming trip! Only 15 days away!

Now, since this is our first time staying onsite, I have a question about charging things to your room. I know you can buy things at parks and have them deliver it to your room, however, I was wondering if you can charge things to your room while you're there (for example a dinner at Epcot or a purchase at a giftshop) and square off the bill at the end of your trip. Anyone know? Or is WDW just too big of a place to do this?

Thanks for your help!
