Iago's Mom and WLD;

We'll be at WL June 23 to 27 .... glad to know we'll be in good company!!! We loved to trade pins, so we'll be the ones with landyards around our necks!! Us and 4 billion others! LOL. See you in 12 days!! CAN'T WAIT.

999ghsts,

I can sure tell how much you love Disney. That has to be so neat to go to the Disney Parks overseas!

It sounds as if you bring a lot of "magic" to people everyday. You sure helped so much here by answering all of our questions on WL. We all are looking forward to our stay there and we are now much more knowledgeable about the resort thanks to you!

I will look for you while I'm there so I can personally thank you for all of your help and great tips!

Julie
WL July 23-28 2002

We were there from June 1-8th.

Woods View, Bunk beds, Lobby room #5082. The view of MK fireworks was awesome. The noise from Whispering Canyon was not, but I think it only bothered my wife and I since the kids were so tired every night.

Roaring Forks is great for what it is. Good counter service type food and snacks. You can also get it to go and take it to your room or poolside. We also bought the large refillable mug for $10. Good deal if you use it even 3 or 4 times!

Transportation was great. Only had one really bad bus experience, but one out of a lot of bus trips isn't something to complain about. The front desk was misinformed about the transportation to early PS's at MK. They told me that the correct bus to take would be the one marked "Character Breakfast". It is NOT! From the WL you must take the TTC bus and transfer to the monorail for PS's. If in doubt, just aske the first driver that comes along! Same thing for FW. My brother-in-law's family was camping there and were told they could be picked up by van/car for early PS's. When no one showed up they very nearly missed out on our CRT ressie. They were nearly an hour late, but other CMs had made calls to the restaurant to hold their table! I had also alerted CM's that they would be there.

We used Tiffany Towncar. They were great. Ask for David if you are using them, as we liked him a lot. He is actually an independent driver that subcontracts with Tiffany using his own car. In fact, whenever we go back I may just look him up and book with him direct!

We did eat at Whispering Canyon. The food was good, not great. Our server was really fun, but it was our first night there and we were really tired, so the humor wasn't as appreciated as it might have been later in the trip!

My opinion only, but if you're going with kids over aged 3...leave the strollers at home and don't bother with renting one either. My kids are 3 and 6 and they walked everywhere. No complaints either. I know we walked at least 3-4 miles per day for 7 straight days. We made sure we walked with the kids a couple of times a week for a month or so before the trip. Drink lots of water and let the kids have a good bit of say in what you do when (with the proper 'leading' questions of course! :-) )

THANKS, KEITHOMAS...

for your informative post!!! So glad to hear that you and your family had a great time!!

I noticed that you had dinner at Whispering Canyon. Did you have PS's for any other restaurants??

We actually didn't have a PS at Whispering Canyon when we ate there. We ate about 7:00 pm on a Saturday night and had about a 15 minute wait.

The only PS's we had arranged before our trip were Cindy's breakfast and Chef Mickey for dinner.

While we were there I called and made a dinner PS for Biergarten (8 people in the party) and a lunch PS for 50's prime time (again 8 people). I made both of these on the day that we were going to eat there with no problems and lots of times available.

We also did the Fantasmic dinner pkg and ate at Mama Melrose's. A great place to eat!!!

Thanks for the info KT :D
We are also bunkbeds request with a woods view. Maybe it will be the same room :D
Did you have any Krispy Kreme donuts at RF?

my wife and I are doing Weight Watchers. We didn't count points on our vacation at all, but we did try to eat right/light for breakfast so we'd have more room for snacks/dinners!

I had lost 23 lbs in 7 weeks and didn't want to blow it in a week at WDW! Our weigh-in is tonight, so I'll find out how I did. I'm guessing that I pretty much held my own, but a slight gain wouldn't surprise me. We tried to share entrees/meals whenever possible during the trip. We would eat a cheeseburger/fries, but we would just share one. Saved $ and points!

DizNEeyore and Plutospup,

Thank you so much, its a little cooler today but I need that ice cream. Think I'll bypass check in that morning!!

domiii,
I'll be the one with the Mickey Ears and subtracting 1 day off your counter for me.

999ghosts

Glad to here you enjoyed your vacation. We sure appreciate you helping us enjoy ours even more.

The lobby rooms with the great view of the fireworks sound great. I didn't want to request bunks though as it is just hubby and I and I think families with kids should enjoy them first!

Is there a boat to TTC from WL? Travelling with DGM86 (pins in hip) and DGM76 (left knee replaced) and thought the monorail to EPCOT would be best for them.

999ghts, may I go to Tokyo with you? We have always said if we win the lottery we would travel "around the world". Disneyland, Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris and finally WDW. Now that's what I call a trip around the world.

See below days and counting!!!

999 ghsts,

Thank you for all the wonderful information you have provided. It has been so much fun to plan and dream. I have read all the posts but still can't decide.
We have a courtyard view room booked for July 1-5 to celebrate my 50th birthday. If view is more important to me than convenience, which in your opinion is more magical: the view from a lobby room or one at the end of a wing facing the inner courtyard?

Thanks for any information that might help me decide. :D

999 Ghosts

Thank you so much for all of the value information you have provided. We have two standard rooms requested in August. I am going to request the lobby rooms. I can't wait to stay at the WL. We have never stayed at a deluxe before.

Unfortunately, no boat to TTC. You could take the boat to the Contemporary and then take the monorail from there. However, there is a bit of a walk from the boat dock to the Cont.'s main building, and then once you take the monorail to the TTC, you have to change to the Epcot monorail. You may find the direct buses more convenient. HTH!

999ghsts,

Just got done reading this thread, only took 2 hours :). You have been extremely helpful and should be comended by all, including your employer. As a former cast member, just a lonely MK for a while, I would say you are going above and beyond duty. Have a few questions that I dont think were already answered. I am heading down with two families of 3. We each are bringing little ones for there first disney experience. One will be 18mo. and one 2 1/2. I have reserved two connecting standard rooms in hopes this will help provide the parents time to relax while little ones sleep.

1. I am now thinking maybe getting one deluxe might be better. Are there any deluxe rooms that connect to standard rooms? If so what views or would you have specific room #'s?

2. In mid.late September how likely is a fax request for someone who booked a standard view to get upgraded to a woods or courtyard view? Are fax requests strictly just considered for requests within your reservation?

THANKS!

What a great thread.
I have stayed at WL twice and throguh this I am still learning more.
FYI-our last stay was in room 6005. Courtyard view. Non-smoking, 2 beds, great view of pool except that it was an enclosed balcony.
It is the very last room on the 6th floor, so its a long walk from elevator.
First trip was room 4010, woods view. 2 beds, non-smoking, a nice view of the lake for watching water parade at night and some fireworks over the trees.

HI Kimmar!:sunny:  Just stopped by for a second out of my day while in NY! I'll post again, and see you on the other thread too. Hope you're having a fun summer...and dreaming of the WL (& Dolphin too!). Always, DF99:D

999 ghosts:

Since you have been working for Disney quite sometime, I am hoping you can help me out. I first stayed at WL in 1994, the first year it was open. In the Merchantile they were selling totem poles that appeared to be replicas of one of the ones in the lobby, not the Mickey, Goofy, and Donald one right outside the Merchantile, but one of the "real" ones in the lobby. It was about 8 inches or 1 foot tall and cost around $25-$30 at the time. My mother fell in love with them and by the time she went to purchase one, they were sold out. They gave her an 800 number to call and order one. When she got her order in, they had sent her the one outside the Merchantile described above. She wasn't able to get the one in she wanted. Do you know of the item I'm speaking of or do you know of a way I can perhaps locate one? We've been back to WL each year since and have never seen it again. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

I just made a reservation for the WL on Monday. This will be the first time staying on site. I am SOOOO excited. The WL was my first choice.

My question is what floor are the king size bedroom on?

Thank you for the help, this is a great thread!

999ghts, good morning, thanks for all of your help. I am looking forward to a great stay at WL very soon. Thanks for of all your help.. Corvair
