NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

Hi! I've been planning my vacation to the Wilderness Lodge in August, and have read many of your posts. You have been asking the same questions that I needed answers to also!:D Have a great trip, and please post a trip report when you return. The transportation info would be great from someone who has just been there.

Have a wonderful time!

What a wealth of information this thread is! This is my first post but my family stayed at WL 2 years ago in September for our first WDW trip. Cannot imagine staying anywhere else. In fact, my husband has said he won't go back to WDW if we aren't at the WL! Yesterday I booked two rooms (trying to convince my parents to come with us - it would be their 1st time) for October 2 thru 9. I booked courtyard rooms and requested them connecting. I didn't realize that the rooms looking over the Villas and that pool are also considered courtyard. Does anyone have opinions about this? Is the view as nice? We like to be in the midst of activity (I may be in the minority, but I love the noise - happy kids, pool water splashing, etc.) Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

999ghsts,

Thanks for your reply. Your opinion is so valuable. I'm going to request an inner courtyard view in the wings. I just know whatever room we end up in will be fabulous! I can hardly wait. :Pinkbounc

I thought I saw mentioned somewhere that you could get a massage at WL. Can't find it now. Can you?

wld~

Ooooooooooooh, a massage would be wonderful! I never heard that was offered there but it sure would be nice!

I have a question for someone that's been there before. How long of a walk is it over to Ft. Wilderness?

Thanks--

Julie

:D I started posting here a couple of weeks ago, but things have been busy with the end of the school year (I teach 1st grade) and I haven't been able to get back since.....the thread has grown and I'm enjoying reading all of the wonderful questions and answers!

Only 23 more days til we arrive at the WL!! We can't wait! I have a question about self-parking. We will have our own car as we'll be driving down from NJ. My guess is we'll self park most nights. A question for those of you who have been there...is the self-park well lit? Is it quite a hike from the lobby? Not that a "hike" matters, but just curious.

Have my PS all arranged and tickets for Cirque and Hoop Dee Do reserved....getting so excited now!

...a fellow NJ teacher driving to WDW??? Coincidence? I think not!!!!! Don't tell me you are going the end of July, too??!!??!!

Countdown to WDW:
1 month - 12 days - 2 hours - 45 minutes - WOOHOO!!

(ps - just 4 more days for corvair!! Have a great time!!!)

Kimmar, good morning, where have you been??? I will be at disney on Tuesday!!!! Staying at PO-FQ until Sunday, and then over to check in WL for 4 nights... I will post everything there is to say about WL. These boards have helped me alot. See ya,,,,corvair

A massage is available thru Sturdy Branches Health Club, located in the villas. Massages are by appt. (inquire at the Health Club), and you will need to purchase either a one day or length of stay membership for the club.

Regarding the self-park - I never noticed it to be a hike even though I've read that in various places. It is a "walk", and you need to walk up some steps..but it still isn't as far to walk (IMHO) as it is to walk to some of the bus stops at other resorts! I guess it all depends on how long of a day you had at the parks and how tired you are. If you're like me - somedays - "any" walk is TOO long! Plus, the walkway is of course, nicely themed. Remember to look down! :D

Have a wonderful vacation!

It has been a few years, but I seem to remember it being 15 to 20 minutes or so over to Fort Wilderness. We did the walk the afternoon we got there (we weren't hitting the parks until the next day) and weren't in any particular hurry. I remember it being a quite pleasant walk.

Kimmar -
Thanks for the input re: bunks, one queen, mom & 2 kids at WL when we go in August. I've decided to stay put with my ressies, pay up before we go and forget it until I fax a room request a few days before!
This thread has been helpful and has got me rarin' to go to WL. I know some of your names from the posts and can't wait to read trip reports from corvair & you, kimmar!
Chances Mom, if you're out there - when are you staying at WL? We are starting 6 days on 8/12! See you there!!
Tho I mostly lurk and read here voraciously, I've been on DIS a year now and couldn't live without my "fiX" between visits!
Pixiedust Blessings Upon you Alll!

We'll be arriving at the WL on August 11!!!! We will be there at the same time. I'm going to get a lime green ribbon to tie on my back pack. I'll be the one chasing a 6 year old boy. I have stayed at the ASMo for the past 3 trips and am really looking forward a Deluxe!
:D

Looks like you have your room situation figured out. I, too, tend to spend a lot of time lurking, reading, and learning from these boards!

Can't wait to read the trip reports from the people going in the next few weeks.
Read KeithThomas's trip report if you get a chance--it really makes me excited to go!

See you at the Lodge:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Chance's Mom -
And I will be the one chasing around a 5 year old girl who will turn 6 on 8/14 and her 10 year old brother who often acts like 6!

Off to add lime green ribbon to my packing list!!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Just had to tell you--my DS will be turning 6 on 7/28--They are very nearly the same age:D
The summer of 1996 was long and hot!

I love this thread since we will be staying there over Thanksgiving!

Dear Moderator -

Isn't there a way to "stick" this thread at the top of the resorts board to avoid "bump" threads being added?

Boy!!! It's taken me a while to get back to thank ya'll for the welcome and help... but I do... thank you.

999ghts

Thanks so much for the room info (and ALL the other posts with info that you do).

wld and domiii..... We're gonna have FUN!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

I've got a few ps's made..... and just signed up for the Backstage Safari tour... I was a biology major and loooove animals so this should be great.

As far as Pin Trading... I have a lanyard and a few pins... haven't had time to get really serious about it, but i easily could!

BTW.... what's this about a lime green ribbon I keep reading about?

I am getting seriously excited about this trip... this board is great for tips on things I had no idea exisited at DW, AND I got the Spring edition of the Disney magazine and it had all those tips by CM's in it... just in time!

ooops.. the real Iago is sitting on my shoulder telling me he's hungry, so gotta go feed this parrot before he get's too rambunctious!

Take care all...

Sandra

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread so please forgive me if this was answered in an earlier post. I just don't have the patience to read through all 32 pages of this thread!

Is there a link somewhere that has a WL resort map that shows room numbers? All I can find is the generic one.

Thanks!

...sorry, there isn't a map that contains rooms #'s. You see mods and values like that because they have different buildings, and really, the buildings are numbered, not the rooms (well, the rooms DO have numbers; I mean, you don't see them on a resort map!). If you are thinking of a specific location at WL, present your question to 999ghsts. I'm sure she will be more than happy to aid you. The only other thing I can think of is to read posts of other DIS'ers who have stayed at WL and ask them what their room number was....hope this helps!

Thanks, Kimmar. We stayed at BC last year and there was a map available that showed room numbers - probably just a fluke or an industrious BC fan who had a map and scanned it. I just thought that one might be available for WL - the DIS people are the most industrious people I know!
