Hi. Can't sleep so I will update my saga. No AF today (!) so after work I went and bought some OTC tests. I bought a 3 pack which I thought might be overdoing it since I should only need one. Came home, took test number one. Don't want to be too graphic, but I didn't hold it in a good spot and missed most of what I was aiming to catch. Tossed that one. Drank a lot of water so I could try again. This time I had lots available but I apparently drowned the strip and got an error message. Drats. Drank a lot of water so I could hurry up and try again. Negative. Got ready to go out to dinner, etc..

Anyway, it kept bugging me so I had to get home and investigate online. I guess I should have done that before I wasted my money on a 3 pack of tests. Hold for five seconds, put flat on counter, wait. Sounds so easy, why do I need to read the instruction sheet inside. :sad2:

I tested three times in one hour, in the evening, after drinking A LOT of water. Of course, that is the exact opposite of what I was supposed to do apparently. Now I wonder if it's really negative or am I just a ding dong and can't do a simple test correctly. I also used all of the tests and have none to use in the morning.

I will see what happens with AF tomorrow and buy more tests to hopefully try on Friday morning. I think I will buy two boxes of tests next time because I seem to require remedial help for this. :rotfl:

Happy New Year everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. - Thanks for the advice - he will be getting checked also FOR SURE if I have to have that stinky tube test. After doing a little reading about it, I am NOT looking forward to it, but will of course have it if the doctor says it's important.

Chloe-You probably dilluted your urine too much if you are pregnant. Go to the dollar store and buy some tests there. Those are pee in a cup tests, but that might be simpler, and they are way cheaper! If you look them up, they are also among the most sensitive of tests, so that's good. Good luck.

I don't blame you for not looking forward to the HSG. If you have to have it, you have to have it, but I had a horrid experience with it. Ask them for pain pills to take before hand. Something better than tylenol with codeine, which is what they gave me. It just made me stupid, did nothing for the pain. The only thing that relieved it was a hot bath. (and lots more tylenol)

I hate to admit, but the idea of going through an HSG is definitely playing a part in my trying to decide whether to continue with infertility treatments.

I had such a terrible time with the sonohystogram I had a few months ago that I can't bear to think of doing it again! :scared1:

Stinky news. AF arrived today so I guess it wasn't just my poor technique that caused the negative result. So Happy New Year to me, my test is scheduled for Monday. :sad2: I just want to get it over and done with. I was REALLY hoping that this month would work out and I could avoid the test.

There aren't any Dollar stores around here unfortunately. The store brands are less expensive - do you think they would be okay?

Hope you all had a good New Years! I think this will be a lucky year for all of us on the DisBoards!!!!!!!!!!!!

That does stink!!!! :headache:
Good luck on Monday though! Hang in there Chloe!!!!

We're here for you whatever you decide. :grouphug:

Hi! Well, the test was a total misery but at least the results were all good. I really think they should give a sedative, geez. No man would put up with that wide awake. :lmao:

Since all the tests have come back with good results the doctor said we could keep trying au natural or start meds if I wanted. So, this month I am taking clomid and if it doesn't work out he said I can move up to injectables next month. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to do. In the end I figured the meds can't really lessen our chances so I would give them a try. WWYD?

Hope you are all well. I'm waiting to hear some good news here!!!

Chloe that stinks that AF came. I haven't reached the point of meds yet, so I can't comment yet.

I did call my Dr. and I'm waiting to get a call back. He mentioned he might want to test me for a thyroid problem, but we'll see! Good luck to everyone else!

I took meds for a while years ago.
The first round (3x) didn't work. :guilty:
Next round did. My son is now 6.
Since then though....NOTHING! :sad1:

Sorry your AF came, Chloe.

I am feeling a bit uncomfortable, not really crampy per se, but the way I normally do the few days before AF, so I am guessing DH & I did not make a Xmas baby. I guess I'll know for sure by the end of the weekend.

Chloe, I feel for you, girl. That test was quite possibly the worst pain I've ever been in (of course, mine was done twice due to equipment failure, so that may have added to it). I'm glad you're feeling good about the outcome. I never thought I would consider doing any drugs, and here I am on injectables (well, not this month since I had cysts). I'm even considering IUI, and the potential for more down the road when we could afford it if it got to that point.

Hi all. Went for day 10 U/S today. I'm not sure if the clomid has made much of a difference. I had two follicles on the left and one on the right - all 8-12mm. I probably could have just waited till Monday since I took the clomid day 5-9 but I was really curious what was going on in there. :rotfl:

I was hoping for a little better response but I am feeling okay with those numbers. Now I just want the follies to grow, grow, grow over the next few days.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!!!!

Good luck growing your follies!!!!

Geez, you took it days 5-9 and had a day 10 u/s? No wonder there wasn't much growth! That seems early. When I was doing just Femara (basically like clomid), they switched me from days 5-9 to 3-7 and then I did the u/s on day 12. It seems like on day 10 there wouldn't be much to see yet! I did a day 10 last cycle, but I had been doing injectables, too, so there was a good bit more to see.

Are you triggering ovulation, or letting it happen? Did they think you had a "risk" (that's what it's called in my office-I call it a chance or a hope, because we'd love to have twins) of multiples?

Oh, and I forgot to say, I'm still losing weight! The biggest change I've made to my diet is that I don't drink regular sodas or sweet tea. The only liquid sugars I consume come from the occasional Starbucks, but I do those with the light base, which helps (with whipped cream, which doesn't). I've been eating some potatoes, although that's still what I really want, all the time. I've really been focusing on cutting back on carbs, and adding in whole wheat versions of pastas and breads. Overall, not so horrible and I'm basically down 3 sizes. I was a little bigger than the size I was wearing (we all know what that's like, right?), and now I'm a little bigger than 3 sizes down, although I do have a pair of pants that size that I wore to church today. I told DH that if I'm not knocked up (my way of saying it to keep from getting emotional because it sounds so silly) by this summer and I get a little smaller, he better get prepared for a skimpy summer wardrobe because I'm showing it off!

I'm a few days out from going for a baseline ultrasound, hopefully. If the cysts are gone, it will be another medicated cycle for me, with the injectables and the works. If it doesn't work, I think the next attempt would be IUI, but I'm not sure we can afford that, yet. We want to build our savings a little more first, especially since my insurance won't cover any of the office visits or meds if I'm doing IUI.

:lmao: You go girl!!!!! My motto is.. If you can't be pregant, then flaunt what ya got to make the preggos jealous too. Not very nice, I know, but it sure feels good sometimes.

LOL! I TOTALLY feel the same way! I lost 23 pounds last summer...wore a swimsuit for the first time since before I was pregnant! (My DS is 5.5 years old!). I also spent the summer wearing skirts and cute tank tops! LOVED IT! Of course, I've gained a lot of that back after going through a rough patch with feeling all doom and gloom. But DH and I are both working our way back to losing weight! It's nice to focus on something other than TTC!

I think it was early also, but since the doctor said to come on day 10 I just went ahead and made the appointment. :confused3 He did mention several times that there was an increased chance of multiples on the medication (plus an increased risk because of my age) and seemed to think that was a negative. Like you, we would be happy with twins. :lovestruc

I think I will be getting the shot to trigger ovulation although he hasn't said that for sure. I don't think it hurts anything and it might help, so I'm all for it.

I've put on ten pounds in the last six months that I know is from baby anxiety. A couple of cupcakes is a little pick me up after a BFN. :sad2: I think you have a great idea working together to get back in shape and focusing on something positive as a couple. :) I want to start but I am not there yet.
