I was wondering if anyone is doing 30 day Shred? I started today. What were your results? Thanks.

I've heard great things. I have this DVD and I've been wanting to start it. Maybe if I can get my rear in gear I'll do it with you.

Are you starting with level 1? Not sure what your fitness level is?

I've been doing 30 day shred for about 3.5 weeks. Since I started I've lost about 5 pounds. I've also been watching my diet but not super obsessively. I'm taking it slow. I'm still doing level 1. Next week I think I'll start level 2 since I can do almost everything in level 1 without much problem. The biggest changes have been in my thighs and arms. My DH says he can tell in my stomach but I think he may just be humoring me. Anyway, it really kicks my butt but I feel good after I do it.

Good Luck!

I started today on level 1. I got through it but it did kick my butt. I stopped working out over the winter and put on 10 lbs. My fitness level isn't that great right now. I heard some people will do this and something else but I don't think I can add more cardio at this point.

I can't believe I am saying this but I'm excited to do it again tomorrow.

Are you doing just the 30 day shred? Are you doing it everyday?

ETA...forgot to say. Good Job on the 5 lbs!!!!!!

Ok- I'm going to try to make myself (heck its only 20 minutes - right?) do it tonight.

I'm going to do beginner too - I've lost all the strength I used to have.

WooHoo! My first reply!

I've tried the 30 day shred. Absolutely kills me! I have no upper body strength and the push-ups always do me in. Maybe someone else having success with it, will get me started again.

Hey Foodie - Welcome to the DIS :)
:welcome:

For push ups - to help you build strength. Try doing as many as you can and adding 1 or 2 every day till you build up your strength.

Thanks so much! I have been lurking for some time, looking for inspiration. I have got to lose about 50 lbs. Hoping to lose them before our next trip to WDW.

I tried to do it everyday but I ended up so sore I cut back to 3 to 4 times a week. On Jillian's podcast she usually says to do it no more than 5 times a week. Techniquely you can do it everyday but I was not enjoying it when I did it that way. I also try to do some cardio with it. It doesn't always happen but I usually do some other kind of cardio 2 or 3 times a week.

Thanks BTW. I'm pretty excited about the weight loss.

You did cardio but not on the days you did Shred? I could do that. I don't think I could do Shred and cardio on the same day yet.

I'm on day 13....did level 1 for 10 days, 2 days of level 2, then 2 days off, then level 2 again. I'm totally AMAZED that on day 1 I could do ZERO girly pushups. Now on day 13 I can do REAL ones!! The only level 2 move I have real trouble with is the double jump ropes as I have a rebuilt ankle. Haven't lost a thing, but I can sure tell it in my body size! VERY pleased!! Most days I also do a WATP DVD for added cardio or take the husky for a long walk.

You can do it. Good luck!!:thumbsup2

Some days I do a lighter cardio with it if I'm really motivated. Like today I did a dance video I have. I would never do anything super intense with it though.

Ok -I did level one of the 30day shred. I've had shoulder pain for over a year - it's why I stopped exercising in the first place. It was hurting tonight. I am going to call my Dr. tomorrow and tell them I want to go to a PT. I'll continue and just do this slowly. One day at a time.

I stopped in the last section, but I almost didn't do anything so at least I did something.

Just ordered the dvd I will let you all know when I start how it goes. Great job everybody!

Me too...well ordered it fron Netflix to try and see if I can even do it. I need to lose 20 pounds by end of June (a reunion) then another 10 before my trip in August cause I really really really want to wear a bikini this year in the pool

Did my 2nd day of shred yesterday.Boy was I feeling it. I can't do 2 days in a row. So I have decide to do BL yoga on my off days. Do I need to add cardio? Any suggestions?

I didn't do it yesterday either. I needed to give my body a break. My shoulder was hurting. Now what felt good was the DOMS in my BICEPs. I had used a 5lb weight for Bicep curls.

I still have to call the DR about a PT. I just hate calling the DR.

I love the pain of the good kind of weight lifting pains - I just hate the ones that I know are cronic and aren't supposed to happen in WL.

I started the 30 day shred on Friday, April 3. I have done it 13 times since then (so 13 times in the past 20 days). I have been concentrating on trying to do it at least 5 days a week lately. A few times I have done it twice (once in the morning and once in the evening), but only a few times. My average would probably be higher, but we have been away for a few days and I did other exercise while we were gone.

Here is a link to what I posted after my first attempt to do level 1 of the 30 day shred...... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2139186

I am still totally at level 1. I can't manage ANY real push-ups and the best I have done is about 12 girlie push-ups in the first round and maybe 3 in the second round. It just doesn't seem to be getting any better in that area.

I really struggle with the side lunges/anterior raises. I have 3 lb. hand weights and I can barely get through both sets (legs are okay though).

I also have trouble with the crunches. I hurt my neck a few years ago and it is what I consider fully healed, but I struggle not to strain my neck while doing crunches. I know she says that "the neck is not invited to this party", but I can't figure out how to do crunches without some neck involvement.

I do GREAT with the squats and biceps curls and can definitely see improvement with those. I can do both sets going all the way down in the squat. I am considering getting heavier hand weights for that portion. And I do okay with the cardio portion. I have been doing cardio fairly regularly for about 15 months now (nothing extreme, just some walking, wogging, elliptical), so not surprising.

Anyhow, after 20 days, I am still not even considering moving on to level 2. I haven't even looked at it yet. Maybe I will take a peek at it later and see how bad it looks!

I love that we have a mini "30 day shred support group" going on here!

Has anyone found anything similar that they like? I am pretty sick of hearing JM's voice! .....................P

Today will be day 16 for me....day 6 of level 2. When I started level 2 I backed off from 3 lb weights to 2 lb weights. NO upper arm strength. It is getting better, though!
