I have to say, I have been reading the Dis Boards for over a year and finally could not resist. I have been camping at the Fort since 2006 and fell MADLY :goofy: in love with it since. I frequent the Fort at least 4 times a year, loop 800 for most part. I have so many majic memories of the Fort. This is where my kids had thier first camfire, first bike ride, first golf cart ride, first looping ride, and the list goes on. A great place for the family and a great Dis Boards Community to share information.

I want to thank everyone from Tri-circle-D, des1954, stacktester, DaveInTN, Shan-man, Born 2 Fish, ftwildernessguy, Dis Camper, and the rest of the gang. You all have been so helpful and full of great information. :thanks:

On a diffrent note, this will be the first Halloween (Oct 29th-Nov-2) that I will be at the Fort, from what I have heard on Dis Boards and recently read in Trailer Life it is LOTS of fun for the kids and the adults as well.

I am sure their are lots of people going to be at the Fort that weekend, my questions are:

1.Do we expect many outsiders/non-guests in the Fort this year, especially after they have moved the gate post?

2.Are the park crowds heavy during this time?

Any help on this would be much appreciated. :disrocks:

Last year was our first time during Halloween it was crazy. It was like the whole Fort was a party. Cool to see the fort hoping but we most likely won't return that time of year. Welcome to the Dis. I lurked about 6 months at first then I had to post.

Welcome to the merry band of madness known as the Camping Board! I'm glad you came forward out of "lurkdom" and decided to reveal yourself.

I'm tired & didn't want to retype stuff I had posted on another thread, so I just copied it. I think it will more than answer your questions. If not,,, ask more!! :rotfl2:

"I'm here to tell you right now...there was a continuous wave of kids and adults trick-or-treating from about 6pm to about 8:30pm last year. I have never seen anything like it - and I've been at the Fort over Halloween each year since 2002. One other Fiend and I decided early Halloween day that we might need to supplement our supply of candy we each brought, so we went to Sam's and bought an additional 35lbs of candy. I already had about 5-7lbs with me. We figured between us we had 50lbs of candy. It was gone in less than an hour!!

We've opted not to go to the Fort this year over Halloween. We've seen the trick or treat trend getting more and more out of hand as the years pass. Because there were sooooooo many people trick or treating last year, I'm certain that word got out to the other resorts and to the general public that the digs are good at the Fort. Even if each cabin had their allowed 6 people per cabin and each site had their allowed 10 people per site, that still would not have added up to the amount of trick or treater's that were there last year. It was utter madness!!

The other thing that got out of hand were people going wild with their golf carts. I know of one little girl that was pinned under the golf cart when another cart (going the wrong way on a loop with no headlights) crashed into the cart the dad & little girl were in, causing it to flip. It was very sad.

I don't want to scare you, but rather, prepare you for what might occur. Because Halloween is on a Sunday this year, it might not be so bad. Last year it was on a Saturday.

I just hope Fort security closes off the parking lot to people who are actually staying at the Fort and verifies reservations for people who say they are coming in for the HDDR. On major holidays they need to step up the security and limit access to only those people who have a valid reason to be there."

That's what I said!!

That's what I wanted to say but it was to much to type. The police were there for hours about the cart crash.

Thanks for the information. I hope the Fort is not as krazy as last year. From the looks of things I should be prepared with lots of candy just in case.
