Hi everyone!!

I'm new to the board and I have a few questions. If you've heard them before and you can point me in the direction of a thread that would be awesome. Or here is good to0 ;)

  • When you are initially looking into a Disney World wedding what kind of process do you go through?
  • If I call them and ask them to hold a specific day do I have to immediately put money down? Or do I have to travel there first to set a day?
  • Does money exchange hands right away or does Disney wait for a lump sum at the end?

How has your experience with the coordinator's been going?

I'm really eager to start this planning process so if anyone could offer up some advice/answers I'd really appreciate it ^.^

Hello, welcome, and congratulations!!!

To answer your questions:
Most people initially go to the Disney weddings website which can give you some brief information and pictures to give you an idea. http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/
After that, there is a contact phone number you can call, and somebody will take your name and phone number and ask you very generic questions, like what date are you looking at, and how many people. The first phone call is very brief, and then you play the waiting game and wait for a consultant to call you back.

You do not have to put money down immediately, and you do not have to travel; you can do everything by phone if you need to. Once you pick a date, depending on how far out you are, you can sign a contract at 12 months or 8 months out, depending on if you want a Wishes wedding or Escape wedding. Once you can sign your contract, they require a $2000 deposit. Then you go through all the fun planning and once it comes to 90 days before the wedding, they require you to pay your minimum expenditure (at least for a Wishes wedding, I'm not sure about Escape). Your final bill is due 30 days before the wedding.

My experience with my consultant and planner and florist have been wonderful! They have been so helpful and kind.

Hope this info helps, but the best thing to do is to call them! Good luck!

One of the best resources available is Carrie Hayward's PassPorter Disney Weddings book. You can purchase and download it here:

It has information on packages, costs, minimum expenditures, things you can add ... I would've been lost without it!

PartofDisney'sWorld pretty much covered everything I just wanted to add that for an escape wedding your initial deposit is much lower than $2,000. I can't remember exactly but I think it's in the region of $800.

Happy planning! :wizard:

Welcome to the boards!

I second this recommendation above. I downloaded the ebook and it has been a fantastic help and answered most of my questions before I needed to ask them :thumbsup2
