Yesterday in our local paper in a small article it stated disney had new offering stating Jan.2,2005. They said for $35 dollar addons for making passes park hopper for up to 14 days. The article also said they were offering a dining program for $35 for adults and $10 child a day. I was wondering if anyone had more info and it said two meals a day and a snack. I can,t believe this is for two sitdowns it has to be counter service thanks for any info :earboy2: :earboy2:

That is NOT a ticket add-on.

If you want the dining, you must purchase a package. The dining option is then an add-on. It must be purchased for EVERYBODY that is on the package reservation, and must be purchased for all the days of your package. It is $35 per adult/junior per night, and $10 per child per day. For that, you will get 1 sit down meal, 1 counter service meal, and 1 snack.

I thought too that it is a flat $35 to make the basic ticket a hopper. Didn't realize it went up to 14 days...thought it was 10... but I know details are still coming out.

The dining package includes one sitdown, one counter service meal, and one snack per day. Signature restaurants like California Grill and Citricos count for 2 sitdown meals.

THe dining package sounds like good value to me but we have APs so it will do us no good as far as I know!

I think a number of numbers are being mixed up. MYW tickets expire after 14 days unless you add the no-expiry option (cost varies depending on the number of days). It is $35 flat fee to add park hopping to a MYW ticket. The longest MYW ticket that has been priced is for 10 days.

MouseSavers has a good description at http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwticketprices.html#myw

I think it stinks that you have to buy a package to add the dining option! What about all the AP holders and DVC owners. It is like they are being penalized for coming often!

....Carrieberry, I love yer avatar!! Cu-u-u-u-te!

Just curious... how does the dining option work... do you receive vouchers? For our next trip it may be worth it if character meals are included.

I think the only ones who would know that would be the cast members. Since it is a package add on, and therefore you'll need a room, it might just be tied to your room key as well.

You will get 1 sit down meal, 1 counter service meal, and 1 snack per person, per day.

If you choose, I believe that you can use 2 sit down meals in order to go to a character breakfast - and also the reason that I think it might be tied to your room.

Logistically, I'm not sure how it will work, but I do know that you will be able to enjoy a character meal - you'll just have to use 2 sit down credits instead of 1.

You don't need to use 2 sit downs for 1 character meal. The only time you need 2 sit downs for 1 meal are HDDR, Luau, and signature restaurants.

I've read that the meals are encoded on the room keys. You hand the room keys for all members of your party to the CM and they swipe them to pay for the meal.

You can see a list of the restaurants here.

I'm more curious about the "snacks". Could you use a "snack" to buy a breakfast roll at the POP food court? Using your refillable mug (which we can't live without) you could then concievably have 3 meals a day.

So you must eat all your meals during the length of stay at the resort?

No, a snack is ice cream (from a cart), a small popcorn (not the souviner bucket), soda (bottled) or milk.

shafke: Yes these are going to be tied to your room card like the current wishes are for the Gold/Silver plan.

Beaches and Cream, the bakery in France, and several other restaurants are included in the list of places you can use the snack option. Since these places don't offer popcorn or the small ice creams, will you be able to purchase some of the other desserts using the plan?

Depends on what you mean by resort. You don't have to eat the meals at the resort where you're staying, they just have to be on Disney property at one of the locations on the list of restaurants.

OK, here's the next question. We will be with my parents who are FL residents with an AP. If we go to a restaurant with them, how does this work? Does everybody eating have to be on a package or is the bill adjusted?

Also, are you limited to one of each option per day? For example, can you use the dining package for a character breakfast in the morning and then for a sit down dinner at say, Epcot? Or how about getting two snacks at the same time (soda and a popcorn)?

Your payment will be deducted from the bill via your room key, and taken from your dining add-on. The balance will be what your parents will owe. Then you can pay for it with a credit card (or bill it to your room), or they can pay for it. The only exception to this would be if THEY are on your package reservation. If they are, then they will also MUST have the dining plan. The only way to get around that is to book their own reservation.

I'm not certain, but I believe that there is a good degree of flexibility in how you use those dining options. If you have a 5 day stay, then you'd get 5 sit downs, 5 counters, and 5 snacks - and I believe you can use that as you chose to.

None of that is fact, it's strictly my best guess.

The way that they told us was that it will be like the wishes, where you have an alotted amount based on the length of your stay and that they will be pooled together. So basically you will have a counter service "bank of points" a table service "bank of points" and a "snack bank of points"... You can use as many as you want on any given day you just would be short or over on another day.

Disneyjunkie, that is interesting, I have not seen the list you are referring to... what I posted was what we were told in the class, perhaps they are tweeking that...

It sounds like you have to pay full price for the room to get the meal plan. Packages always seem to include the rack rate for the room. That's why I have never purchased one. The past few years I have used the discount codes for my room, saving at least $75 or more per night. It doesn't seem like a good deal to buy a package to get the meal plan, Am I missing something? Is it possible to get a discounted room rate on a package?
