new ticket prices and dining package

Yes it is. I'm not an expert on this, but many times the room only codes come out, there's a comparable code for packages. We went last year on the 7 for 5 deal, and it also extended to a package of room and length of stay passes. That said, don't think it's clear what impact MYW will have on discounts in general.

It sounds like you have to pay full price for the room to get the meal plan. Packages always seem to include the rack rate for the room. That's why I have never purchased one. The past few years I have used the discount codes for my room, saving at least $75 or more per night. It doesn't seem like a good deal to buy a package to get the meal plan, Am I missing something? Is it possible to get a discounted room rate on a package?

Yes, as the poster above said, there have been discounts on the packages in the past. Only the room portion of the package was discounted, however, not the passes, or add-ons (with the exception of the Fairytale, and 5 Plus 2 packages, where passes were, indeed, discounted).

From what I have been told (but realize there is nothing substantial backing this up just yet), you WILL be able to take your BDP room-only, or discounted Winter Dream Maker package for next year, and upgrade to the new MYW package while keeping the room discount. I sure hope this is the case.

I know that, in the past, if you had, say, the BDP room-only discount, you could still upgrade to the Dream Maker package while keeping the discount, even if it had expired already. The CM would just have to go to Guest Services to have them open the room up in the Travel co. system. But, it could be done. Hope this helps!!! :D

I think I'll try my question again. Say you're at the YC for 5 days and the CR for 5 days, so at the World a total of 10. Let's say you buy a package with the meal add ons only for the 1st 5 days when you're at the YC. Do you have to use up all your meals during the time you're registerd at the YC, or can you use them later in the week, when you're at the CR with a room only reservation?

I don't know for sure but I would imagine you would have to eat them in your first 5 days since the package is on the first part - except if you do until midnight of your check-out day - you could then have that first day at CR covered.

I hope that makes sense. I'm assuming that part of the package works the same way that the wishes did on the Silver, etc...

We used the meal plan at DL (California) this past summer. The one at DW may or may not work like that. I can tell you we reveiced vouchers (DW has said theirs will be electronic) for 1 Sit down meal (including characters), up to X dollars for a second meal (enough to cover most counter service or help pay for a sit down), and up to X dollas as a "snack". Snacks included soda, ice cream bars, popcorn, cotton candy, or the money could be used as credit to help pay for a larger snack at some vendors (you paid the difference). If you had a counter service meal that exceeded the max then you also paid the difference. We like the plan a lot. I hopr the DW works the same way (we also had to stay on property and purchased the vouchers as part of a package).

The biggest hastle was keeping track of the papers. A CM mentioned they were possibly going electronic in California in 2005 but who knows.

In actuality, if you are willing to use up extra meals on your dining plan, you could also pay for your parents meals with the plan. All of the meals are encoded on all of the cards in the reservation, so you only have to show one resort ID to pay for meals. Unless you tell the server specifically that your parents will need to be on a separate check, when you hand them the resort ID, all of the meals will be subtracted from the meal plan.

As a matter of fact on an older Dining Disney Style plan where I had x dollars per night for meals and snacks, I asked about ordering a drink on my resort ID, but NOT charging it to the dining plan, I was told that all food and beverages would be charged to the dining plan first until the funds were exhausted, then any remaining amount would be charged to my room account. I pulled out my regular credit card to pay for the drink so I wouldn't subtract from our dining plan as my friend and myself were saving that for our shared meals.

The points for the food portion are linked to the reservation. They will only be avalaible for you to use up until midnight on the date the reservation checks out. At midnight on the date of check out the Charging privledges and dining portion of the package will be locked out. If you have tickets with no expiration they will still work as those are through a different system, but you would no longer have access to the dining part.
